Hey there Chris! I'm not able to ask on Insta so I'll ask here: I have a 3.4 gallon tank with three goldfish - good working filter, clean water (water change every other week/ week and a half), strikingly blue pebbles (that I have come to dislike), some small rocks and shells, and fake plants. I don't want to kill these fish, as I've had them for a few months, but I'm afraid that they are living in terrible conditions! We take care of them to the best of our ability but I'm still not sure if they have enough space or have the best life. Do you have any advice on how to make sure I treat them the best I can? I feel terrible for keeping them in a tank like this in the first place...

@@thesalviniadude3882 I didn't have much of a say about what size tank to get in the end. I asked to get a 10-15 gallon but my family refused. I seem to be the only one who really cares about the health of the fish (I clean the tank, change the water, feed them most of the time). I want to figure out a way to keep the fish healthy at least until we can upgrade, which will most likely be after Covid-19.
funny how people are complaining about being shut inside due to the coronavirus but they will cram 20 Damn fish in a 10 gallon tank... that's called karma

that 4ft goldie tank reminds me of my friends dad, he was like i want to do fish too, i said do tropical, his like nah i dont want to use a heater bla bla bla gold fish so easy bla bla, then like 4 months later his little goldies were all about 6-8+ inches long and fat af, his tank kept crashing, constant bacterial bloom, still didnt want to listen to me.. i ended up finding out, instead of giving the fish away to someone with a pond, they ended up putting them all down with clove oil.. poor buggers, the whole situation made me sick.. my friend and her dad never listen to me about their fish, always just trust whatever info from online instead of listening to me even tho all my tanks are always crystal clear, happy fish, zero fin rot, but apparently to them, fin rot and everything is perfectly normal, and bacterial bloom cloudy water is just fine.. so is cleaning filters back to brand new under scortching hot water, doing all the things wrong, making more work for themselves, seriously every few days cleaning filters and doing massive water changes trying to fix the cloudy water instead of letting the tank settle in and mature, oh no cant have a mature tank, with enough filter flow, dont want ugly DIY filters in their tank they would prefer to have an under filtered tank with cloudy water instead of taking my advice, i even tried giving them filters and they still argued with me saying they have enough filters (with zero bio media, a small amount of sponge to mechanically filter but they would clean in every few days making the bit of sponge unable to grow bacteria) thinking that their uv sterilizer is helping even tho it was clearing their water of the cloudy, it was killing their bacteria bloom making the tank fail to cycle evey single time for months). seriously have no idea why people dont listen, atleast i was able to rescue their last 5 corey's before they put them down too, now i keep getting eggs and babies from their coreys and they keep wondering why im able to hatch the eggs when in their tanks the eggs always went mouldy and never ever hatched... hmm i wonder why

Any Canadian when they first get into fish keeping: watches any fish care guide, learns that they have to keep there fish at 78 degrees. Canadian: "why are all of my fish dieing, I did everything right, I cycled my tank, and kept it at the right temperature, 78 degrees celcius".

My favorite from this list is actually Dani Metzger's tank. I actually prefer tanks that are looking good, but still need work. Mostly because I look forward to buying that next plant, or getting that new stone, or getting that centerpiece/show fish that would just be PERFECT for that tank. It's really nice to have a tank you have plans for improving.

Exactly! I find myself wondering constantly if these companies, especially the big ones, even have people working for them that are fishkeepers and/or aquascapers. Seems like a big NO based on so many of the products they tend to put out and how they market them.
@@dawnt6791 yeah, my local pet shop has a fish tank that is 21L/5 gal advertised for Goldfish. The people working there really want to change the name as its called "goldfish learner tank" but even they don't recommend it to people.

I am another fan from the Netherlands! You've been doing a great job making these video's!
If you think that is an interesting place to put fish oh, you should see the art of regurgitation. If you train for years you will be able to control your throat and stomach muscles. And if you replace the acid in your stomach with water you can hold fish and or frogs in your throat or stomach, for 40 minutes to an hour depending on how quickly your stomach replenishes itself with acid.
Also you'll likely be limited to goldfish or frogs that are similar to the maximum size of your throat otherwise it'll be difficult to regurgitate them on command.

Okay, so I have a betta. I’ve had him since last year in February(I think). His name is Arnold lol. I had got him and a new fish tank because my five gallon was old and my 5 year old betta had passed away. Well, this new one ended up being 21 something dollars. I’m used to them being like 6 or 8(there wasn’t a price on them so oopsy). It was because Arnold was a premium butterfly. He was blue and white. WAS. he is now mostly blue. I know once they mature and stuff they change colors, but dang. That was 21 dollars😂.

I have a blue flame gromme I lovingly call "The Godfather" and he's spoiled. Dried Bloodworms are their favorite treats.
He has tank mates, but he's my favorite that I like talking about.
I had a 5 gallon fishtank and purposely overstocked it with the intention of moving the fish into a 20 gallon and leaving some in the 5 gallon... I know people are going to yell at me for fish abuse, but I had 5 ember tetras, 3 pygmy cory catfish, 3 harlequin rasboras, 1 bumblebee goby, one hogchoker( I know the hog choker and goby are brackish ), 3 24K golden white cloud mountain minnows, 4 guppies ( one endless and 3 assorted males), one female Globetta (I took pity on it, it had dropsy and was malnourished, plus it had almost no color, and 3 months later it looks beautiful, with deep red fins and a huge appetite), 2 cherry shrimp, and one fathead minnow( someone gave it to me because it was left over from a bunch of other minnows that were used as bait and I wanted to make its quality of life better). The tank was extremely densely planted, with some Anubias, anacharis, dwarf hair grass, and another plant that I forgot the name of... But anyway, I was worried about the water quality and frequently checked it, but the water quality was always the same, with low ammonia levels. It almost never changed for 6 months ( the filter on the 20 gallon broke, delaying the time the fish could go in), and all the fish were perfectly fine( no aggression, eating good, no deaths, no disease, no parasites, etc. ) The fish are in a 20 gallon (most of them)now, but I still don't understand how all those fish lived in a 5 gallon for 6 months. Can someone please explain?

Those goldfish should be in a pond I have a little outdoor pond my goldies go in during summer until I can get my custom 150 gallon (viruses slowing me down lol) but that was at least 10 fish in a 100 gallon at most ridiculous
The oversized goldfish in looks like a 50 to 75 gallon, are probably fine but likely to have their lifespan limited buy a year to. But upgrading to a 120 or 200 should mitigate that.
At the same time goldfish in tanks live 3 to 6 years average with 10 to 30% Living Years longer. In pawns they can live 20 in 30 years with an extremely low percentage living over a hundred. TBH we know almost nothing about this.
