- I take a common $8 dwarf Korean Lilac and begin the process of turning it into a bonsai tree. This is phase I, which is repotting into a bigger pot with new bonsai soil, and doing some structural pruning of the branches to get the plant into the correct shape so it can begin the growing process from there. Phase II will be transferring into a bonsai pot and will be done in a later video.
Wonderful video! Appreciated you explaining what you did step by step. The best bonsai video I've seen.
😊
Thank you I appreciate that! I actually just repotted it again about a month ago and it's doing great.
glad i found this video, i'll have to dig through your other scthuff......already checking out the old lilac in my front yard for possible young, diggable starters.......lol.........many love, much props
Thank you! I hope yours turns out well. Just checked on this guy last weekend and it's doing great!
Great video and information, Thanks.
Beautiful, great job
$8!? I paid $48 for mine this year…thanks for all the great info!
Just picked up one of these at Menards for bonsai. Found your video for ideas. Thanks. Can you tell me what you're using for soil?
For the most part it's just perlite, safety absorb, and pine bark. Sometime I'll get fancy and add small volcanic rock or small amounts or organic compost.
fuck, i cant believe i watched 38 min of that, good work!
Loved watching this. Do you have any updated pictures of it?
Thank you! And yes, I have a couple updates here and on Instagram. Haven't done a full length update on it yet. Probably will in the spring.
Greetings from Utah.
I've purchased a three foot tall Miss Kim's korean lilac for $46.00 this year in total memory of my dog that passed on valentine's day. I didn't do any repotting and it's currently in the nursery pot. It's in training for multi semi cascading style. So far it's quite healthy. And keeps sending off new shoots. It won't receive root work and the new pot until complete dormancy. By then the wire work I've done will be ready to be removed. Also miss Kim's lilac will go red in the fall I highly recommend you give this variety a try. By the way I know this is a older video how is yours doing.
Would love to see yours sometime! This one is still going strong. Same pot too. I'm sure it's due for a repot by now.

Subbed!
HI, I dug out a Liillac from the dump of our construction side in February of 2019. I poted it in to a shallow pod and left to recover. After few weeks nothing happened and the plant locked dead. But i left it in the pot and did nothing to it. In mid sommer the plant startet to grow and put 3-4 paers of leaf until autumn. Now I am waiting fro spring to see what will happen.
This plants behave very strange buth are hard to kill.
O man, we have similar trees :) Mine is not dwarf tho... I guess I'm a weird trees girl lol
I know this is a recent video but how is it doing so far?
It's actually doing really well since this was made!
Can you film an update?

Great! Are there any updates on it?
Haven't made an update video in awhile but I can say it's doing great! I'll probably do a repot next spring.
I just got my first Dwarf Korean Lilac. Did yours survive after this?
It did! It's actually been doing really well. I think my timing was right.
Love your videos but please turn off the music while you are talking. Thanks!
So how did it turn out?
It is still doing well! Just posted an update a couple weeks ago.
