  • Did a nursery crawl & found the 1/2 off pile...maybe they will turn into rescues & not wastes of time! Always fun though & a learning experience.

I with you on the small tree philosophy. Looks like it’s got great potential. Hopefully it will survive and thrive. Thanks

I repotted a mame yankee point not too long ago, starting budding up to flower this week. Fun times.

@@bonedrybonsai4109 it was pretty small but really old when I found it. Had nice bark, I trimmed it back to the main leader and let it sit in it's can for a year, then repotted in Feb. Going strong.

Ceanthus (pronounced See-an-oh-thus) is the genus as well as one of the common names.....the “G” is probably for “gloriosus”, the species name. Can be temperamental as a bonsai and not do well if manipulated too much. However, sometimes it thrives when bonsai’ed. I hope you have a thriver. If you do, then you can cut back on the legginess and it will back bud like it is going out of style.

Thanks very much for the info Jeff. I'm afraid if mine was a thriver it was in days past, not a thing happening with it now except branches getting brittle.

I hope this one makes it. What foliage there is looks healthy.

Thanks, I really do too. I agree what's on it seems like it wants to remain, & the small stuff wants to grow. Will update

Thanks Marcel, appreciate the feedback. I wish I could, got it maxed out at 400%. Until I can get better equipment this is the best I've got.

It’s in the big garden in the sky unfortunately. Seems a good variety to try again though
