Had a similar experience, but it was an imbalance due to fine road dust buildup on the fan blades. I was really excited when I realized it was that simple.
Thats great news. Unfortunately I've got to drop a buck fifty on a new part. Good news for me is the labor is free.
Same issue on my Outback. Fan motor bearings were shot so replaced with junkyard part and no issues since.
