    Thank you both so much. My offroad sleigh has been giving me grief for some time now and I've spent more money than I should have to fix the problem. Santa's going to have to leave something special for both of you under the tree this year. On a side note, Preston's smile in infectious and Mrs. Claus says Preston is "Just the cutest and most precious mechanic she's ever seen."

    Good job fellers. Preston now that you know how to do that, you can come do my old 88 XJ. I've already been through the same steps you guys have up to that point. I picked up a new starter this morning because the old one was starting to give up, so I figure might as well to both at the same time. Have fun wheeling guys! Thanks for the videol

      Your sensor is not the same as his . Your 88 has a 2 wire sensor that generates voltage. His is a 3 wire sensor with a reference 5 volt signal .Yours can be adjusted by carefully tapping it closer to the flywheel .You want it over .500 millivolts while cranking .I used to get them over .750 without hitting the flywheel .

      It's funny you mention that. I actually went to a local pick in pull to see if I could salvage a mopar CPS from an XJ, but the transmission and engine were already gone. Here's to hoping the Duralast brand lasts...at least until the mopar version gets shipped.

      My CPS went out about 4 years ago and I didn't have much money at the time so went with a Standard brand CPS - even though I was pre warned not to cheap out. Maybe I was lucky but it's been perfect so far. Used standard also for my cam sensor and other parts - no issues so far. I did use NTK for my O2 sensors though...

    I’m not misfiring or throwing codes, but when idling hot or cold the tach bounces and idles a little rough. Occasionally I’ll stall out. Did you have a similar rough idle like mine?

    • @sandbox_adventures
      @sandbox_adventures  Před rokem

      That’s how it started and then progressively got worse over the course of a couple months. I don’t think a code popped up until it stalled for the first time.

    • @sandbox_adventures
      @sandbox_adventures  Před rokem +2

      Whoa, that sounds super frustrating! I've read in the jeep forums that sometimes aftermarket parts can be faulty and send you down a rabbit hole thinking it is something else b/c you just replaced the part. I'm still waiting on the mopar CPS myself. Hopefully swapping the PCM will get you running. Good luck!

      @@sandbox_adventures yeah what's weird is every time i change a part things work then new shit breaks. currently i am sputtering because my battery wont hit the proper voltage. before it was not doing that. i am assuming all the damage these other misfires caused, made the alternator shit the bed. going to try, o2s, alternator, fuel pump, then ive got nothing left but the pcm. i will; try and come back to update yall
