    To argue the 10% of M&Ms are poisonous.
    You take out one M&M test it for poison, then eat or throw away. Just like we do with people. You met them, test their views, then decide if you want to interact with them more or not. To do otherwise would be judging people on how they look.

      J Your inability to recognize when someone is using sarcasm, as Paul Elam did in the article you are referring to, is noted. I also note your inability to cite an entire quote, or to include the context of that quote.
      For the record, the whole quote is as follows:
      "If you listen to the 'Teach Men Not to Rape' segment of feminism, you come away thinking that all men are complete animals who cannot control their sexual desires and who thus need to be muzzled when going out in polite company, lest they attack and ravage the first woman (or girl, for that matter) that they encounter."
      The fact that you intentionally failed to note that, when Elam said this, he was talking about the statements of noted feminists, and were intentionally lying when you tried to imply that these were Elam's attitude, shows that you are an intellectual coward, dishonest, and a liar.
      A typical unthinking feminist, in other words.

      +spuhtanous combatment Yes this is perhaps one small point where I disagree with Christina HS. She is trying to make herself seem more acceptable by calling herself a feminist. However feminism is fundamentally flawed and it can't be "recovered". Feminism in all it's forms is a lost cause.
      We should all learn by this that we need to treat men and women truly equal and place equal emphasis on both, even when one appears to have all the power.
      In other words we should bury feminism completely and focus on true egalitarianism.

      Brendan Beckett I will believe that feminism is for gender equality when I see organized feminism championing as a cause a men's issue that does not also affect women.
      When a feminist lobbying group champions funding for a shelter for the 50% of domestic violence victims who aren't female, for example. Or when a feminist group starts campaigning and protesting against the fact that women get lighter sentences than men despite committing the same crime. Or when a feminist group goes just as ape-shit over a female teacher having sex with her underage student as they do when its a man having sex with an underage girl.
      Hell, I'd even believe it if organized feminism took as much time to put muzzles on their more extreme members (the ones who really are dyed-in-the-wool man-haters) as they do turning such people into folk heroes.

    • @GrumpyOldGuyPlaysGames
      @GrumpyOldGuyPlaysGames Před 10 lety +4

      J What you just did there is what intelligent people call a "Red Herring". A "Red Herring" is a fallacy in which an irrelevant topic is presented in order to divert attention from the original issue. The basic idea is to "win" an argument by leading attention away from the argument and to another topic. This sort of "reasoning" has the following form:
      Topic A is under discussion.
      Topic B is introduced under the guise of being relevant to topic A (when topic B is actually not relevant to topic A).
      Topic A is abandoned.
      This sort of "reasoning" is fallacious because merely changing the topic of discussion hardly counts as an argument against a claim.
      Now, would you care to address the point, or do you want to dodge it some more?

    "...employs the classic logic of bigots." This is the single best description for that line of thinking that I've heard. And much like trying to correct a bunch of racists, if you try to point out the fascist, illogical aspect of their worldview, you get attacked and (as a man) talked down to like a petulant child who doesn't know any better at best, an internet rapist at worst. As a supporter of classical feminist ideals, I once made the grievous mistake of mentioning that I believe equality has no room for raging against men as a collective aggressor (and that it severely hurts the cause of gender equality) in a conversation dominated by college-age third wave NeoFemmes... as I should have predicted, it was like kicking a hornet's nest. Suffice it to say, they made it plain my apostasy was unforgivable and that I was not a welcome ally. I was even accused of being a troll and "gaslighting." The bottom line with these people is that any man who feels put off by the idea that we're all potential rapists/murderers (so-called "male tears") until proven otherwise is part of the problem and part of "rape culture." If you don't drink down the dogma without question, you're dismissed and demonized. It's ideological totalitarianism.

      "Feminist" is technically the word used for people that are for gender equality. The word "feminist" sounds as though it would only be in support for women, however it really promotes equality. A different term might be in order, but I think people just need to be more aware of the feminists out there that aren't shaming men for holding a door or offering to pay for dinner. The good feminists are in the majority, however people only hear about the irritating ones.

      @kristinabergie4512 Před 10 lety +2

      If you ask me, I think accounting for differences are an important factor to consider and are the natural flaw of humanism. It's really impossible to treat everyone the same; they come from different backgrounds. They are raised with different prejudices and different sources of identity. Humanism is a movement that ignores the differences in people. A variety of movements that protect the interests of people that are relevant to the cause, such as feminism, are much better than a movement that benefits everyone at once because these movements exist to address issues each demographic has as a specific. Humanism itself, if it was organized, would be much like congress. Every different demographic has different interests, it'd be put to vote, and majority would rule. That majority, btw, would be a specific race and gender within the organized movement, and thus would poorly represent minorities which might have an entirely different set of issues they would like considered by their representatives. You could argue that a group of movements arguing over who gets what is another representative of congress, and as things are now the law can more easily ignore groups that are smaller and more poorly represented, however, as things stand now, different movements are getting stuff done. A lot of the good we're doing now with separate groups, such as groups that support African Americans or, again, feminism, would never get done with organized humanism, and that is why it's an inferior system.

    You've definitely got your head screwed on. I've got a problem though, it's with feminism and equality.
    Feminists claim to want equality for women but even the act of claiming to be feminist already separates them from men and destroys any equality. You can't be feminist and want equality. Feminism is all about women, it's right there in the name.
    A decent example of what I'm talking about is the relationship between atheists and religious people (is there an ism/ist word for that?). A religious person can never claim to be atheist because their views go completely against atheism and vice versa.
    If you want to have views or ideas that are aimed at equality for both men and women, don't call yourself a feminist. If you really want to have views or ideas tailored for equality, call yourself an equalist, or anything similar. Your views will be much better presented that way.

    I don't normally comment on CZcams videos, but it's rare that I see a video so in line with how I view the world. I see so many statistics that lack context that, as a mathematician, I doubt any of it. So, I find it refreshing to see someone analyze this data, to take that deeper look, and report about it factually.
    More than that, I find it refreshing for someone to explain the whole instead of focusing on the specific. Instead of focusing on a problem that affects women, you specifically spotlight all types--women, men, children, people of any ethnic group.
    All groups experience physical or sexual assault. In particular, as a teacher, I see how young people in my area interact--in what they say, in the gestures they make, what they do to each other, and definitely in how easily they believe information.
    I wish there were far more videos like this, whole news networks like this, so that data would be better interpreted, that such information could be more widely spread, and that a united front against physical or sexual assault against all people in all categories could be formed.
    I appreciate this video. I appreciate you. I will now watch the rest of your videos to see what else you have to say.

    The biggest problem I have with the MnM analogy, is that it suggests that women/people in general can't tell when a male is 'poisonous'. Most of the time you can tell when a male is fucked up; with MnMs you'd have no idea which were poisoned and which weren't. In using the quote, are women suggesting they are incapable of working out when a man is messed up? Because it doesn't take a genius to know when somebody is sick, like Elliott Rodgers; his past actions, CZcams vids and personality traits screamed 'I am seriously fucked up'.

    • @Danbearpig

      Valid point. Additionally, just because I've dated women who turn out to have deal-breaking jealousy issues, fidelity issues, general crazy issues, etc., I don't go out there saying "only ten percent are poisonous, will you risk it?" You learn and move on, and develop a discerning eye. This M'n'M thing is divisive and insulting.

    • @makaisenki
      @makaisenki Před 9 lety +10

      So is it ok to grab a woman who is trying to hurt herself? Is it ok to grab a man who is about to drive after having too much to drink?
      Is it assault to push your friend as you both rush off to the bathroom because they have to shit and you have to piss? What about if it's in a playful manner?
      If someone is trying to steal something from you because you won't loan it to them at the moment, is it ok to use minor assault methods such as grabbing, pushing, or throwing stuff to trip them in order to get it back?
      She's not saying that those things aren't bad, she's saying that the different *LEVELS OF DEGREE AND CONTEXT* are not being taken into account.

    • @Audacityscape

I feel as if some of the ideas portrayed by these one sided media outlets not only give women a bad idea of what's going on but it also gives men a poor image and continues a terrible stereotype. Equality doesn't come from only having one opinion.
