How to debunk feminists:
1. Find the source they cite
2. Read them the source
+Dandan It's a cult.
+TGGeko Basically, what they should have done before citing it.
+TGGeko Eh, sometimes all it takes is just to take their argument, phrase it a little differently (without changing the actual meaning, just the phrasing) and the argument debunks itself.
+TGGeko As soon as you tell them the ACTUAL FACTS, they accuse you of "mansplaining." Men are not allowed to be right.
+TGGeko But that would be "MAN"splaining!
100% of all apples are green. (See source below)
*Out of all apples that are green 100% are green.
To argue the 10% of M&Ms are poisonous.
You take out one M&M test it for poison, then eat or throw away. Just like we do with people. You met them, test their views, then decide if you want to interact with them more or not. To do otherwise would be judging people on how they look.
+Craig Goetsch Or hide at home forever :)
that is way too logical. throw all m and m's in fires of hell along with the factory that made them, the people that designed them, anyone who briefly suggested maybe we should try to pick out poisoned one to enjoy the good ones. this solution is better.
well if you wanna be pessimist that is one of way of saying it.
If eating one M&M would represent a one on one encounter, wouldn't eating a handful equate to a gangbang? That writer is a freak!
Now this is how feminists should act, calm and factual. Props to the American Enterprise Institute.
Well, at least when they're presenting an argument. Outside of that, I, for one, couldn't care less how they act. Fewer things are more annoying than a shrill lunatic that won't either listen to or employ any reason when debating.
JoeNietzsche Agreed. Some people simply cannot be reasoned with despite presenting them with sound, valid arguments. They just want to scream their opinion as if it's fact despite any evidence to the contrary.
Yeah, someone needs to tell THEM that.
you mean this is how the rational mind should act. I'm sure being feminist is just part of her.
***** Yes it is. That's why I think it would be wise for Christina to drop the label.
"Now, I think men will be forgiven for finding the whole thing quite insulting."
No. No we will not. Instead we will be insulted some more, yelled at, demonized and accused of derailing the conversation or misogyny!
EDIT: Fixed spelling.
AND accused of complaining and making the situation about ourselves if we dare try to defend ourselves, don't forget that bit.
gimme that demon ice
Ha ha! Sorry. English is not my first, or even second language.
Biggsy DaOneTrueKing Let's avoid the gross generalizations where we can. As the video producer here proved, feminism in academia has and can continue to be rooted strongly in logic and reasoning.
Bartholomew Klick LOL ... you have no idea. That woman is Christina Hoff Sommers! Thanks to her use of logic and reasoning and quest for equal rights, she is admired by MRAs and seen as a "gender traitor" by the RadFems. She is a member of "The Old Guard" sometimes called "True Feminists" ... I fear there are too few of them left to save us!
It's like there was a fight between boys and girls, and this lady is like the calm teacher who teaches everyone a lesson at the end of the day.
Correction! this calm teacher is teaching just the girls. Boys are not the ones lying in order to gain something!
G.I. Joe!

Yeah, we should be forgiven for finding it insulting. Unfortunately, we're not being forgiven. Instead, we're being told that anger at being insulted in this way is not an appropriate reaction, and that an appropriate reaction would be just sitting there and taking it.
yes, exactly!!!
Well said. A lot of feminists today like the ones that compare men to poison are literally discriminating. Its just as bad as racial discrimination yet we are just supposed to sit here and take it? Nope no.
J Your inability to recognize when someone is using sarcasm, as Paul Elam did in the article you are referring to, is noted. I also note your inability to cite an entire quote, or to include the context of that quote.
For the record, the whole quote is as follows:
"If you listen to the 'Teach Men Not to Rape' segment of feminism, you come away thinking that all men are complete animals who cannot control their sexual desires and who thus need to be muzzled when going out in polite company, lest they attack and ravage the first woman (or girl, for that matter) that they encounter."
The fact that you intentionally failed to note that, when Elam said this, he was talking about the statements of noted feminists, and were intentionally lying when you tried to imply that these were Elam's attitude, shows that you are an intellectual coward, dishonest, and a liar.
A typical unthinking feminist, in other words.
Take it like a man! /s
Jack Butler
I believe that according to feminists (male or female) the appriopriate answer to the slander and the smears is to "sit down, STFU and listen" (to your betters, I guess).
if more feminist where like the factual feminist
I'd be behind it one hundred percent
spuhtanous combatment In fact feminists consider and label her an anti-feminist. Sooo yeah. Fine. I'm an anti feminist too. Unless you ignore the 'no true scotsmen' fallacy.
+spuhtanous combatment Same.
Her viewpoints fits the dictionary definition of feminism in a way that so many other feminists do not.
+James Race I know it sucks
it was noble cause about equality and its now turned into praise anything a women does with a vagina whether good or bad
+spuhtanous combatment Yes this is perhaps one small point where I disagree with Christina HS. She is trying to make herself seem more acceptable by calling herself a feminist. However feminism is fundamentally flawed and it can't be "recovered". Feminism in all it's forms is a lost cause.
We should all learn by this that we need to treat men and women truly equal and place equal emphasis on both, even when one appears to have all the power.
In other words we should bury feminism completely and focus on true egalitarianism.
I would be happy to call myself a feminist, if this is the sort of skeptical, rational yet pragmatic and concerned worldview it represents. Great video as usual Christina. :)
Sommer's calls that 'Equity Feminism' I think.
unfortunately christina is an extremely rare bird amongst feminists
Faux Mustache
Feminism was always supposed to be about equality, sad that it needs that adjective now to differentiate from craziness.
Brendan Beckett I will believe that feminism is for gender equality when I see organized feminism championing as a cause a men's issue that does not also affect women.
When a feminist lobbying group champions funding for a shelter for the 50% of domestic violence victims who aren't female, for example. Or when a feminist group starts campaigning and protesting against the fact that women get lighter sentences than men despite committing the same crime. Or when a feminist group goes just as ape-shit over a female teacher having sex with her underage student as they do when its a man having sex with an underage girl.
Hell, I'd even believe it if organized feminism took as much time to put muzzles on their more extreme members (the ones who really are dyed-in-the-wool man-haters) as they do turning such people into folk heroes.
J What you just did there is what intelligent people call a "Red Herring". A "Red Herring" is a fallacy in which an irrelevant topic is presented in order to divert attention from the original issue. The basic idea is to "win" an argument by leading attention away from the argument and to another topic. This sort of "reasoning" has the following form:
Topic A is under discussion.
Topic B is introduced under the guise of being relevant to topic A (when topic B is actually not relevant to topic A).
Topic A is abandoned.
This sort of "reasoning" is fallacious because merely changing the topic of discussion hardly counts as an argument against a claim.
Now, would you care to address the point, or do you want to dodge it some more?
#YesAllWomen received a tremendous amount of attention in the wake of the Isla Vista killings, but the facts did not. The Factual Feminist looks at the numbers behind the hashtag, and reveals some surprising data that shows you may have been misled.
Two very simple improvements to this video series:
1) Put a link to the playlist in the video description of every video in the series.
2) Put links to all sources of each video in its description.
gggrow Great ideas, thanks!
gggrow I agree, I'm looking for the link for the video towards the end comparing public reactions to domestic violence
Wow, I'm really happy to see someone debunk a few of thoses claims. Truth is often forgotten when bad situations like the origin of Yesallwomen arise.
Bill S Did you end up finding it? I'm interested in seeing it as well
"...employs the classic logic of bigots." This is the single best description for that line of thinking that I've heard. And much like trying to correct a bunch of racists, if you try to point out the fascist, illogical aspect of their worldview, you get attacked and (as a man) talked down to like a petulant child who doesn't know any better at best, an internet rapist at worst. As a supporter of classical feminist ideals, I once made the grievous mistake of mentioning that I believe equality has no room for raging against men as a collective aggressor (and that it severely hurts the cause of gender equality) in a conversation dominated by college-age third wave NeoFemmes... as I should have predicted, it was like kicking a hornet's nest. Suffice it to say, they made it plain my apostasy was unforgivable and that I was not a welcome ally. I was even accused of being a troll and "gaslighting." The bottom line with these people is that any man who feels put off by the idea that we're all potential rapists/murderers (so-called "male tears") until proven otherwise is part of the problem and part of "rape culture." If you don't drink down the dogma without question, you're dismissed and demonized. It's ideological totalitarianism.
+Trollaukinn I used to think the term feminazis was a bit extreme but as we look more closely at what these so called feminists are preaching like negative profiling, though control and thought policing they are indeed very fascistic and bigoted in their views towards straight males. If their logic was applied to any other group there would be widespread outrage.
That very same M&M analogy was used for the Muslim ban controversy in recent weeks
I love the comment you made that these issues are too important to leave in the hands of careless journalists and TV pundits. We live in a society that puts far too much weight into the credibility of anyone on TV.
Well, the news media used to take their function as a pillar of democracy much more seriously (it was never perfect or even very good but, compared to today's news media, which is an absurd circus, they were a collection of saints back then). As a result of that history there is a lingering degree of respect. Maybe one day journalism will be worthy of it again but for now - nope, not even a little.
So true.
We also live in a society that forces itself to overcompensate for perceived victimhood. Hence, SJWs. Victimhood is powerful. Victimhood is vindicating. Victimhood allows people to narrow their scope of vision, which just leads to a perpetual cycle.

T V sells drama- truth is not dramatic.
Do we in todays world still need feminists? I'm all for equal rights, but feminists sound like Muslims, they don't wan't to be criticized.
My point; humanism > feminism.
"Feminist" is technically the word used for people that are for gender equality. The word "feminist" sounds as though it would only be in support for women, however it really promotes equality. A different term might be in order, but I think people just need to be more aware of the feminists out there that aren't shaming men for holding a door or offering to pay for dinner. The good feminists are in the majority, however people only hear about the irritating ones.
Aiden Niemi Egalitarianism
If you ask me, I think accounting for differences are an important factor to consider and are the natural flaw of humanism. It's really impossible to treat everyone the same; they come from different backgrounds. They are raised with different prejudices and different sources of identity. Humanism is a movement that ignores the differences in people. A variety of movements that protect the interests of people that are relevant to the cause, such as feminism, are much better than a movement that benefits everyone at once because these movements exist to address issues each demographic has as a specific. Humanism itself, if it was organized, would be much like congress. Every different demographic has different interests, it'd be put to vote, and majority would rule. That majority, btw, would be a specific race and gender within the organized movement, and thus would poorly represent minorities which might have an entirely different set of issues they would like considered by their representatives. You could argue that a group of movements arguing over who gets what is another representative of congress, and as things are now the law can more easily ignore groups that are smaller and more poorly represented, however, as things stand now, different movements are getting stuff done. A lot of the good we're doing now with separate groups, such as groups that support African Americans or, again, feminism, would never get done with organized humanism, and that is why it's an inferior system.
Vennificus Thank you!
our initial premise is incorrect, humanism and by extension egalitarianism doesn't ignore that people are different. honestly its been my expoerence that feminists are the ones that wont admit people are different.
You know, I've heard of your videos before, and checked into your one about Anita Sarkeesian's video series, and I find that you are quite an intelligent person, as well as quite respectable. You understand that people have to be responsible for their own actions, while also knowing how to deal with those who impose upon others. Thank you so very much for your sobering voice and logical understanding of research. :)
I love this woman. She is really an equality seaker.
You've definitely got your head screwed on. I've got a problem though, it's with feminism and equality.
Feminists claim to want equality for women but even the act of claiming to be feminist already separates them from men and destroys any equality. You can't be feminist and want equality. Feminism is all about women, it's right there in the name.
A decent example of what I'm talking about is the relationship between atheists and religious people (is there an ism/ist word for that?). A religious person can never claim to be atheist because their views go completely against atheism and vice versa.
If you want to have views or ideas that are aimed at equality for both men and women, don't call yourself a feminist. If you really want to have views or ideas tailored for equality, call yourself an equalist, or anything similar. Your views will be much better presented that way.
Religious people are called theologists
Jacob Milgrim Aren't theologists people who study religion? Theology = the study of religion?
EmmaCross94 Jacob Milgrim The term is theist
Yes the term is Theist like Tazildayah said. You do get Atheistic religions such as Buddhism. I totally agree that feminism is inherently unequal.
Tazildayah Ah I get it now.
Theist = Religious
*A*theist = Not Religious
Makes sense :P

Thank you so much for saying something that needs to be said. Violence against women is deplorable, but so is violence against anyone. You rock Factual Feminist! We need more voices like yours.
This women is just absolutely amazing. The world needs more people like this, someone who doesn't believe every piece of garbage that the media spews out.
A sane voice in a hysterical world.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! You are singing my song! Keep it up, and I will be looking at your other videos in the near future. This made my day. What a breath of fresh air! The fear my feminist friends feel when they walk outside their door, that they have a statistical inevitability of being assaulted, is a real fear. But they don't understand that this fear has been fabricated by a very few vocal feminists, and is not in any way based on the actual likelihood that they will experience an assault. These misleading statistics do nobody any good regardless of gender, and serve only to drive a wedge between men and women when we should be allies instead. Please keep speaking out; you are amazing!
Brilliant, thank you very much for this wonderful service. Subscribed and I can't wait for future works about this and related subjects.
wow.. In a see of Sarkesians, this woman gives me hope!

***** Groan.
***** Your sarcasm is well noted, however--what are you really trying to say?
So, what #yesallwomen is *supposed* to be about is more important than what it turned into? Sheesh.
So when people take something to extremes, we're not allowed to point it out, otherwise we're against women complaining about being harassed? Wow, very interesting.
So I suppose "ban bossy" was actually a really good campaign?
What are you trying to say?
Lady you are amazing. Thank you for taking the time to go through some of this with us. It's common knowledge the media warps facts but it's always nice to see how so we can be more discerning in the future.
Thank you for producing this video. This was an absolute breath of fresh air.

TheGuuz You realize he's being sarcastic right? People on reddit don't actually act like that. He's using all the buzzwords to convince people like you that everyone on Reddit is an idiot. And he's doing a pretty good job.
cockerhamdrew You realize that Reddit is still cancer, right?
Cameron Booth How, exactly? That's a harsh way to describe an entire website. A website full of all sorts of people, with all sorts of ideas and opinions.
cockerhamdrew the entire design of the website encourages circlejerking. Putting everyone into obscure subreddits and having people who are dedicated to that topic in charge of those subreddits instead of impartial mods encourages people to go along with the hivemind and create cancer.
Crazy how this was posted 7 years ago and we got put right back into this position
We need this women now more than ever......
I don't normally comment on CZcams videos, but it's rare that I see a video so in line with how I view the world. I see so many statistics that lack context that, as a mathematician, I doubt any of it. So, I find it refreshing to see someone analyze this data, to take that deeper look, and report about it factually.
More than that, I find it refreshing for someone to explain the whole instead of focusing on the specific. Instead of focusing on a problem that affects women, you specifically spotlight all types--women, men, children, people of any ethnic group.
All groups experience physical or sexual assault. In particular, as a teacher, I see how young people in my area interact--in what they say, in the gestures they make, what they do to each other, and definitely in how easily they believe information.
I wish there were far more videos like this, whole news networks like this, so that data would be better interpreted, that such information could be more widely spread, and that a united front against physical or sexual assault against all people in all categories could be formed.
I appreciate this video. I appreciate you. I will now watch the rest of your videos to see what else you have to say.
The M&Ms argument assumes that there are no poisonous women.
As a top tier redditor, I'd like to welcome you to the youtube comments section.
I worship the ground that awaits your grave
This was a very good video.
That tweet comparing men to a bowl of M&Ms where 10% of them are poison pissed me off for the very reasons that she points out in this video.
Thanks excellent video, I like how you analyzed things really carefully and explained things from an impartial stance - that's something all too lacking from other media!
The biggest problem I have with the MnM analogy, is that it suggests that women/people in general can't tell when a male is 'poisonous'. Most of the time you can tell when a male is fucked up; with MnMs you'd have no idea which were poisoned and which weren't. In using the quote, are women suggesting they are incapable of working out when a man is messed up? Because it doesn't take a genius to know when somebody is sick, like Elliott Rodgers; his past actions, CZcams vids and personality traits screamed 'I am seriously fucked up'.
Valid point. Additionally, just because I've dated women who turn out to have deal-breaking jealousy issues, fidelity issues, general crazy issues, etc., I don't go out there saying "only ten percent are poisonous, will you risk it?" You learn and move on, and develop a discerning eye. This M'n'M thing is divisive and insulting.
You're awesome
You mam are absolutely fucking incredible. The truly unfortunate thing however, is that it took your clips being posted on a forum regarding trolling #YesAllWoman for me to find you. I look forward to reading and watching your content, especially your novel Who Stole Feminism.
You are incredibly insightful... I clicked on your "Are Video Games Sexist?" video, expecting another slanted piece, out of boredom and found someone who seems to look at facts above toeing the line every time. I'm watching your videos now and I'm wondering why I never heard of you before? Why do I only hear about feminists that want to tell me I'm responsible for all the bad things that happen because of me being male? There need to be more moderates like yourself.
Does "grabbing, pushing and shoving" NOT count as physical assault? NBD to get shoved by your husband?
or wife!
Right! Any of those things, when not consensual, count as assault. You can't just go around shoving people.
So is it ok to grab a woman who is trying to hurt herself? Is it ok to grab a man who is about to drive after having too much to drink?
Is it assault to push your friend as you both rush off to the bathroom because they have to shit and you have to piss? What about if it's in a playful manner?
If someone is trying to steal something from you because you won't loan it to them at the moment, is it ok to use minor assault methods such as grabbing, pushing, or throwing stuff to trip them in order to get it back?
She's not saying that those things aren't bad, she's saying that the different *LEVELS OF DEGREE AND CONTEXT* are not being taken into account.
Context always matters, but here she's dismissing that those things could ever be considered assault and that's bullshit. If a husband grabs his wife and shoves her because he's pissed, that's assault.
Audacityscape She didn't even say that, did she? Her implication was that these things, being included in the study, did not constitute the study being specifically about women being domestically abused.
The facts overrule the misleads. Against facts there is no arguments. Great video.
Thank you for the honest and rational discussion of this topic. Too often arguments against points Feminists bring up are filled with condescending remarks and venemous ignorance. Not the case here! I am a Feminist and really want women to be taken seriously when they feel that they are under threat because of how men who are sexist have so frequently treated them.
However ignoring the facts is NOT helping anyone!
Grabbing, pushing or shoving? Geez! I've been assaulted hundreds of times. And here I was thinking I was just getting on a crowded train.
thank you for all your work ms. sommer. Both past and present.

I've been having some doubts about a lot of the sensationalist feminist sound bites I've been hearing, but I find the Men's Right's Activists, at least all the one's I've encountered online, to be just be misogynistic men hoping to vent their sexism. Great video. I enjoy that you've put the time and effort to back up your facts with evidence and citations. May I suggest the problems of child abuse as a new video? I've seen a lot of videos of typical Tumblr feminist talking about men being the abusers of women, but I have yet to see one discussing about child abuse.

Subscribed. You are a voice of reason. You do not just jump on a bandwagon, but examine the whole picture and consider and present the facts where possible. If the world needs anything, its that.
This is an absolutely excellent video. Factual feminist, you are definitely a trust worthy source in my opinion. I feel as if some of the ideas portrayed by these one sided media outlets not only give women a bad idea of what's going on but it also gives men a poor image and continues a terrible stereotype. Equality doesn't come from only having one opinion.
It's hard for any man to argue the difference between misandry and feminism though. Especially with the bad rep that feminism has been getting with these kind of stunts pulled by media outlets targeting a "feminist" demographic.
This is fantastic. It's really too bad that so many are caught up in blind fanaticism to see any sort of logic.
Keep on!
Great video as always. I wish I could buy her audio books in Europe.
Speaking as a woman assaulted day after day with the frankly insulting and demeaning rhetoric of the majority of vocal people identifying as feminists thank you very much for being a voice of reason in a storm of victimhood centered political activism. I am not a feminist, and will never be one as long as it has people like Melody "I have PSTD from twitter" Hensly in it, I am not a "Chill girl" nor a "sister punisher" from not agreeing with abusive and mindless assaults on any not toeing the party line, I'm glad there is at least one feminist I feel I can respect
Thank you! The world needs more people who think and not just obey!
THANK YOU! I was thinking about how the 10% of M&M's had bigoted logic, I just didn't know the right words to say!
Ok, I'm a guy, and this is the first video of yours I've watched, instant respect and subbed
Finally a feminist I can support. Well done for exposing this insanity. I hope, at least, some so called feminists change their views upon seeing this.
Why can't more feminist be like this? If there were, they wouldn't be hated nearly as much, and wouldn't have to come up with ways to scare people into joining it.
I was highly sceptical when you said you are a factual feminist. I have seen far too many dishonest and irrational feminists to trust any feminist. You, however, seem rational and honest.
Believe anything you want, but if you want to convince others, you should be trustworthy.
I am glad that she pointed out that bigot say the same thing, and that it is ridiculous that it is acceptable to make that analogy.
THANK YOU FOR BEING SO SMART AND MORAL BASED
what were those scenes from towards the end of the video from? I kind of want to see that video
What are the video clips in the end (where the woman is either "attacking" or "fending off") that plays over her conclusion?
THANK YOU Factual Feminist!
Outstanding work. Always happy to see people of reason in a sea of hatred and divisiveness.
Oh my god she actually referenced a post I wrote :U Regardless this is awesome finally finally finally someone in the media actually says it.
Your videos should be made into curriculum for all high schools in North America. Thank you for making these videos
Thanks. Will you come to Detroit?
Does anybody know where I can get copies of the studies mentioned in the Factual Feminist videos?
Please link the CZcams video that starts @3:34 mark. As someone who has seen it, it is very damning of how society treats men and women and how the pendulum is (disturbingly) going the other direction. Let's leave no one behind- man or woman.
Otherwise, thank you for a more level headed approach to this hard issue.
Okay, there should be a t-shirt that says, "This is what a feminist thinks like". This woman actually searched her facts first before drawing a conclusion.
I watched three of your videos and immediately subscribed. I love the information, and I love the fact that you're not just like... catering to some one-sided thing just to gain popularity amongst the bigots. Well done, seriously.
Women are not the only target of physical assult. Men can be victims and have been vicitims. My brother being one. But I love how levelheaded this woman is when talking about statistics and how they are greatly dramatized. I plan to subscribe.
