What makes this even sadder is that Anakin even said in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series "Anakin is dead. I am what remains.."

Had Anakin not fought Obi-Wan or beat Obi-Wan he eventually would have obtain the power to over throw Palpatine & Palpatine would have loved that because sith lords groom their Apprentices for that very reason. However after being horrifically burn & losing all his appendages on Mustafar Anakin lost a great deal of his natural force wielding ability & athleticism causing him to never be able to reach his full potential like using force lighting. Not to mention Palpatine rigged his suit to punishment him for losing to Obi-Wan

I don't think so. Palpatine wanted him to lose at some point, IG. He would want him to get OP to outthrow him.

I have heard various places that Palpatine specifically made the Darth Vader suit vulnerable to Force Lighting because he knew Vader had the potential to surpass him. There are even multiple hints that Darth Vader knows and is angerly forced to accept this. From his desire to overthrow Paplatine stopping or at least getting majorly put on hold to how quickly Vader got fatal damage from indirect force lighting. Palpatine even told Yoda that Vader would become more powerful than either of them. The rage that Vader know he would never be able to challange Palpatine's force lighting head on is part of what gave Vader anger/ power in other ways.

If Anakin had Confronted Sidious say later on in a different Variant of Episode 4 or a Later Episode 3, He would definitely give Sidious a run for his Money, However it's like Filling a Natural Born Prodigy with Hot Air, They will start to believe everything there told & Believe there own Hype & No Longer put any Work in, Thus Limiting there own Potential, Anakin was Fairly new to the Dark Side but still ill-Experinced in the Grand Scale of it, Needed bare minimum Few months/Few years to surpass Sidious, There is a reason Vader was the Apperentice & Sidious was the Master.

The worst thing is obviously he was manipulated but at the same time he could have had everything he wanted. He could have left the order and lived with padme and their children while I can imagine he and obi wan and all the other Jedi he was close with would still have been his friends. I can literally imagine obi wan going to visit him and being like glad he was happy no longer being shackled by the order and dealing with politics. But fate works in shitty ways and he caused his own downfall.

I believe that if Anakin would have stayed on the current path and fulfilled his potential, he could have overthrown the Chancellor. But since he was badly injured during his fight with Obi-Wan, he owed everything to Palpatine. He created a suit for him to still exist and vowed eternal loyalty to him. So, betraying/overtaking him was clearly not in his thoughts.

Honestly, Anakin killing Palpatine... imo, it's like 52%/48% to Palpatine. Anakin has raw power in the Force, but given how militaristic the Jedi have become, they stopped teaching, themselves too, the Force techniques which were common in the High- and Old Republic eras. And he had no access to the ancient holocrons, as he wasn't granted the rank of master. So every ability he had was mostly instinctual. But his dark side connection gave him near-endless stamina. Sidious, on the other hand, was taught Sith alchemy and many unremarcable, but deadly powers.
Anakin had a unique and deadly lightsaber style which he created, but Sidious mastered all 7 forms, which Anakin may find it hard to defend himself from.
In short, this Anakin was learning at an alarmingly fast rate, but if Sidious knows how to play his cards, which ofc he does, he'll win by a margin.

@@StarWarsShadow Do not forget that he was told from childhood what a chosen one he was, giving rise to self-confidence and permissiveness. But they did not teach his to control emotions, especially not to fall for the provocations of manipulators like Palpatine. There was no trust, no real friends either. Kenobi and Yoda couldn't foresee and prevent everything. It is a pity that Qui-Gon died and did not have time to prepare Anakin properly, because he is similar in spirit. Moreover, he would train him as a gray Jedi who does not have to join the order, follow the code. Among other things, it was possible to make friends and family. Because Anakin lacked help, support, understanding, and love. Including the figure of the father, and what can fill the void in his soul.

Anakin defeated Sidious fairly, playing on his self-confidence and turned the suit's electrical conductivity against Sidious. Anakin finally learned to think, to wait, to analyze, to learn from mistakes while he watched him for years, studied him, ingratiated himself into trust, waiting for the right moment to act like a real general who does not rush without a plan at a strong opponent. What good was the emperor's knowledge? If they did not help him when he got what he deserved for his greed to know, cruelty, thirst for power, underestimating the dark lord and his love for his loved ones, which led him to the dark side and returned from it. Therefore, it was more effective to unexpectedly use physical force so that such a cunning fox as Sidious would not escape and do something else.

Obi-Wan was a wrong, there was no need to go to Mustafar to friend without knowing or understanding the reason for what was happening, especially to engage him in battle which one they both did not want to. Although it was possible to find the right words by telling the truth about Padme and Palpatine earlier. It took them a long time to finally talk calmly after death and come to a consensus. It's a pity that he realized too late that Padme and Luke were right about the fact that there was still good in Anakin. It feels like they had some kind of tactic that they followed: Kenobi has to destroy Palpatine's future body and annoy him. Moreover, without suspecting to present Sidious with a surprise that he did not expect in the end and unexpectedly hand over the baton of self-sacrifice to the dark lord. Vader is getting stronger and preparing for the day when he will be able to get rid of his tormentor by attacking unexpectedly, having previously studied him for many years and ingratiating himself into trust.

@@StarWarsShadow I don't think Obi-Wan was able to understand Anakin back then when he had just finished his studies and did not take place as a teacher. They had different personalities, views and approaches. Qui-Gon would have understood right away with his simpler view of things and kinship of spirit. It took Kenobi years to gain wisdom and learn to look at things differently. Not to mention that due to the distrust generated by the Jedi, Anakin would not have been able to tell Kenobi and Yoda that he wanted to get the title of master to access the secret compartment of the archive in order to find a way to save Padme. Yoda didn't really tell his anything about the visions. He did not think that Sidious was behind them, as well as Padme's death. But Kenobi thought that Anakin had strangled his wife, especially since he did not let them talk calmly when he came out and Enakin decided that she had brought Kenobi to kill him. Another misunderstanding. In addition, he and Yoda decided that Anakin was hopeless and and ultimately needed Luke's help to convince them otherwise.

Why do we forget that Anakin's been crying and whining all through the movie and he did that in the previous movie, too. He was never emotionally stable.
And the reason was simple. The Jedii weren't meant to keep attachments and Anakin didn't give up on them.
