      My personal understanding of how my autism affected my development is that I learnt how to do things by observing them and trying to recreate the results.
      I have abnormal walking patterns, but I still walk with the same efficiency as others.
      I pronounce and spell words inconsistently between UK and US english, but I still talk the same as others.
      These examples could go on for most passive activities that don’t require focus after learning. I believe this process of development is why autistic children tend to walk before neurotypical children and typically excel in subjects that they observe for long periods of time.

There was nothing special about their interaction, he’s just one of few people that understood his issues and needs. Neurotypicals could do the same if they learned about or had more experience with autistic people (at all stages on the spectrum).

Making countless decisions hourly that can have life or death consequences while at the same time worrying about the bills/mortgage because society will pay someone $80 million a year to out a little ball in a little cup, or a bigger ball through a hoop and yet not want the people responsible for saving their lives to earn a decent living. God bless you and your parents that cannot be easy. From what I have seen online from other parents that have autistic children I know for a fact that I could not handle that. It is so admirable parents and siblings that can deal with it. You guys are honestly great. I know that I could not handle the violence and I'm talking about somebody that would be severely autistic. That is something I would not be able to deal with. And I think we should all know our limits because that's how people get abused a lot. People try to do more than they're capable of doing out of obligation or the fear that they're going to be judged. My biggest fear would be having a child and being abusive to that child when it is not their fault! I would much rather have somebody care for the child that could give it the home and all the medical stuff that they deserve! I believe in a lot of ways that people with down syndrome and a lot of autistic children are honestly blessed by God because they can see angels and things that we cannot see. They also are truly innocent because they never do anything out of maliciousness. Their brain just works in a different way.

    Dr. Murphy is the epitome of an example of High Functioning Autism. This moment shows how he can connect with patients in an amazing and...interestingly...calming way. Yes, he's blunt...but patients come to find his bluntness to be empowering. Maybe not at first, but definitely when it matters.

    • @natk1105

    • @Meikelegtei
      @Meikelegtei Před 26 dny +29

      From what ive seen, he is still more severly autistic than most, i have autism and i know at least 50+ people with autism, and each and every one of us can function in a way a lot closer to how neurotypical people function, although it is still fairly obvious we have autism. What you see in tv shows and movies is often unrealistic to how most people with autism act, and it gives people the wrong impression as they are often shown to be socially or completely incapable, which just isnt true, we function differently, not less

    • @omegaprime223
      @omegaprime223 Před 22 dny +34

      Hysterical strength is a thing, when the brain identifies a life and death situation it can temporarily override biological safeguards that keep us from tearing our muscles apart and shattering our own bones. A real world example of this was 63 year old Laura Schultz in 1977, her grandson had been pinned under a car, in desperation she lifted said vehicle off of him with one hand and simultaneously dragged him out from underneath it.
      The threshold is different for everyone, autism can make those thresholds so completely different it seems psychotic to others.
