My favorite Cali Move video, and there are a lot of good ones. 1:17 is a good lesson, I have learned it myself
About 2/3 years ago I finally realized that I'm a very weak person. I didn't work out at all and I avoided many physical activities, I was quite unfit (not to the point of it affecting my daily life though) and it just didn't feel very nice.
I decided to start working out. I searched up "workouts for beginners" and found these really nice channels with whole playlists with full beginners' workouts and workout plans for whole months. Very encouraging and easy to understand. The thing is, I never ever worked out before in my life. Such physical activity was alien to me. The workouts were very, very, very challenging, but possible to do. I felt very good after completing them (mentally, not physically. physically I'd rather die). This went on for less than two weeks. My body was too exhausted, and mentally I felt like they're chores, I forced myself to do them, they were like everyday homework (I hate homework). I just gave up. I stopped working out for a longer time.
Then (after a long break), I wanted to learn a push up (I couldn't do one) and so I did 1min of plank everyday, that's all. It was an easy goal and I often added some more exercises to that because I just felt good or more motivated some days. That alone built up my strength to do one push up. Then I built it up to 2, 3, and finally 5. I'm good with five. I am now doing 5 push ups everyday.
But y'know what? It's easy enough that I am adding 15 more push ups, a plank and a couple of other weird exercises that I randomly saw on YT every other day. I just feel good and I don't feel pressured and I don't feel like quitting. I also don't stress myself out if I forget a day or if I feel weak for some reason. It's not hard to come back because 5 push ups is more enjoyable than it's not.
It's better to do anything than nothing. If it's hard for you to stick to a goal = make the goal easy enough for you to enjoy it.

Love the discussion of injuries. Honestly is good here, it's good to show that if you push hard, even if you're careful, there's still a good chance you will get injured. No reason to feel bad or shame about it.
I also absolutely made the rookie mistake of pushing too hard when starting out, injuries all over the place. Now my progression is slow, I do lots of conditioning, adequate warm-ups, and so I rarely have any pain. But I still sometimes get too excited. When learning levers, when starting explosive pull-ups/bar muscle-ups, when doing more ring skill work like forward rolls: that beginning phase is tricky.
Also, nice to see all these videos of 10 years on, just to reassure people who only got into it a few years ago, that those amazing skills are the results of long, consistent training. Not something you learn in 30 days.

I look at these awesome videos and say I want to be able to do these! However I'm 61 and have some joint issues and could never gain weight loss or muscle. If I would have been motivated to do this as a teenager my body would have been much better. Please keep making videos. We need to motivate our youths.

Injuries are a nightmare. I'm training calisthenic and with dumbels over 1,5 year and got injury of my wrist, elbow, chest and back, and every time it last at least few months until tha pain has gone, and I was forced to change my exercises. I can't even imagine how it could last for few years! But every time it maked me stronger, coz I focused on strenghten of those parts of muscles that was injured. But slowly, little step by step. And from begining of this my journey I'm supporting myself with your channel so I wish you guys next 10 years of great health, motivation and making your dreams comes true! Cheers!

I watch this video just when i have the same injury as Sven. I begin to feel sad because i can't do pull ups , HS (my favorites) and any other overhead exercise. Thanks for remind me that this is a marathon and not an Sprint!! Love you guys!!!! ❤️

Thank you for this! I would love to see an in-depth video of how exactly Sven addressed his golfer's elbow.
