    As a bass player, I'm all about deep clean, and defined bass!!! To my ears, the REL is the clear winner!!! It's cleaner and deeper. I have an old REL Q108E which sounds incredible. When I replace it, I'm getting a bigger REL.

    The frequency response of the cerwin vegas sl15 is lower than the REL.. but the way you’ve got them slammed against the wall shows you have issues with speaker placement.. they need to be a minimum of 12 inches off the wall 2ft even better.. you should CZcams some videos on speaker placement.

    • @Robsreviewsanddemos
      @Robsreviewsanddemos  Před 2 lety

      The Vega manual says 12 inches from the wall for the best stereo imaging and move closer for heavier bass. I have mine 4 to 6 inches. The Vega's go down to 29 hz the Rel goes to 24hz .
      Here's what the Manual actually says copy pasted;
      If the bass is too prominent, try moving the speakers away from the walls. If you need more bass,
      move the speakers closer to the rear walls. For good stereo imaging, keep the speakers about 1-1/2
      feet (45 cm) away from the sidewalls and 1 foot (30 cm) out from the rear wall and about 6 feet (2
      meters) from each other.

    • @XxtothmonsterxX

      I’ve got an svs 3000 micro 800 watts 2300 peak and two rel T/5X 125watts rms and one of them with 125 watts can play louder than the svs bit the rel is a class AB .. I think the rel is the superior especially hooked up via speaker outputs on stereo.

    • @Robsreviewsanddemos
      @Robsreviewsanddemos  Před 2 lety

      @@XxtothmonsterxX oh yeah, it definitely goes lower. The HT 1003 is like 800 watts and I'll never use all that. It has very tight bass compared to the SVS, I was surprised.
      The Vegas are getting 125 watts each, I also just added three bowers wilkins M1 surround speakers and they're all at 125 watts. I just need to get my 6 overheads and one more sub to get my 11.2 system. But the 5.1 sounds amazing. That Neural X surround is mind blowing.

    Those sealed subwoofers are toys near Vegas. You need at least 15 inch Stroker to complement Vegas. But an 18 or 21 inch is better. Cerwin Vega is not for the same goal as those subs. I'm sure when you're listening the Cerwin Vega at level they were made for, those subs are not noticeable. Each Cerwin has triple box volume of REL or SVS.

    • @Robsreviewsanddemos
      @Robsreviewsanddemos  Před rokem +1

      no the subs shake the house way more than the vegas. I'm selling the vegas.

    • @MrSPLbear
      @MrSPLbear Před rokem

      @@Robsreviewsanddemos Maybe the receiver underpowered them and it has low damping for those speakers. Cerwin has 93dB sensitivity it means 117dB with 250W of power. The two Vega can do more than 120dB with 5-600W of power. Those subwoofers can't play on this level, maybe somewhere around 110dB.
      With the 100W/channel maximum power of the Denon which has underpowered power supply section, the Vega can't do more than 110dB.

    • @Robsreviewsanddemos
      @Robsreviewsanddemos  Před rokem +1

      @@MrSPLbear The Denon is 125 watts per channel. I spoke to Cerwin Vega tech before buying the receiver and they recommend powering the speakers at 150 watts. When I turn them over 85 percent on a bassy song they would distort. They were slightly underpowered but I got the most out of them.
      The Subs responses are 20hz for the svs and 24hz for the rell, they just go lower. As for loudness, 125 watts per channel across 5.2 channels is more than enough. At 55% volume you can hear my house thumping from down the street, you can clearly hear the music or movie from across the street.
      Don't get me wrong the Vegas are nice I've always love them, but for high end sound they just don't cut it.
      I've removed them from the system and added 2 Bowers&Wilkins S600 towers, a Martin Logan Motion 30 Center channel, 2 Bowers M1's in the rear, the two subs and the sound is amazing. With the vegas and the M1's as my surround channels I'd give the system a score of 5.5, with the new speakers and the Subs I give it a 7.5 to an 8.5. It just sounds better and goes lower. With the new additions my stereo went from a 3000 dollar decent system to a 5000 dollar amazing system. The Cerwins are great for being loud with lots of bass but they have nowhere near the definition of the newer stuff.

    • @MrSPLbear
      @MrSPLbear Před rokem +1

      @@Robsreviewsanddemos Now I understand your decision.
      "but for high end sound they just don't cut it" absolutely agree, this is why I wrote that Vegas are not for the same goal as those subs. For your goal not the Vegas are the corect choice. At the first time I was think your front speakers are the way of your system.
      Bowers have much better and musical sound and those subs are fits with them.

    • @dperr338
      @dperr338 Před rokem

      @@MrSPLbear no speaker is going to be able to produce the lows that a subwoofer can do easily. A subwoofer has its own dedicated amplifier and it only has to produce the low frequencies. They don’t have to produce any mids or highs. Just looking a power ratings and sensitivity is very misleading. Each manufacturer rates their products differently and should only be used to give you an idea and not an expectation.
