    It sounds like I made a good decision going with the REL

    Thanks for acknowledging the reality of break-in of drivers. I personalized experienced this.
    To those who still think this is bogus, consider this: Speakers & sneakers are both made with engineered materials- some components designed to be flexible and others designed to be rigid. Do your sneakers feel & perform the same on Day 1 as on Day X? No, because the materials “break in” with repetitive motion.

I'm currently deciding between the T5X or 1003 since I am a mixed use case of Movies, Games, and Music (In that order) and think i'll go with the 1003. What's super important for me is being able to make out notes at that bottom end and it not being boomy.

    Thanks for a great review, you said that you have the 7x in your system. I was wondering for a music only 2 channel system which would you chose to run as a single sub the 1003 mk 2 or the 7x. The max volume I would be playing at would be about 110 dB peak. I currently have a Paradigm Servo 15 it is completely overkill for the system looking for something smaller as I no longer can play at the volumes I once did in our new house.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Před rokem +1

      Hi Steven, 110dB is very loud, I think you'd be pushing a single T7X a little too hard with those volumes. I'd suggest a 1003 MK2 at minimum or a pair if possible but what you're describing is more 1205 MK2 territory. In my crude testing a single 1003 MK2 was able to produce 30hz at 108dB and 40hz up to 115dB both measurements from 2ft away which is very respectable for a compact 10" sealed sub. If you're looking for the absolute loudest compact subwoofer on the market you'll have to double your budget and go for the JL D110. Hope this helps.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Před rokem +1

      Personally I'd go fo the 1003 MK2 if it was a single sub because I value extension more. The T5X does have slightly better bass detail but I think the 1003 MK2 is still very good with its bass detail all while offerring up more extension. Then agian if you're mostly listening to rock and roll or music that doesn't extend very low maybe you will prefer T5X. It's a tough call either way, I don't think I can help anymore beyond what I've already said.

    Is the fidelity here high enough to pair with Buchardt S300's (primarily music listening)? Or, should I lean towards a T/5 or T/7x? I like the frequency response of this compared with the T/5x, whereas the T/7x is a bit of a stretch financially. My speakers are not bass-shy to begin with, so I am a bit worried the T/5x won't extend low enough to be a good pairing. Thanks for listening.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Před rokem +1

      I have not heard the S300 but if they're bass heavy like the S400 and you want more extension you'll want to go for the 1003 v2 or 1205 v2. T7X is amazing for SQ and does extend a bit lower than the S400 of course but it's not going to strongly extend the speaker the way the larger 1003 V2 will. Yes 1003 V2 bass quality is very good so you will not have any issues there.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Před rokem +1

      @@hclandscapes yeah, so higher SQ subs can be run hotter and still integrate very well while SPL subs will start to stick out more and more the hotter they're run. Sounds like you had to keep your svs super low on the gain to keep the integration suited to your personal taste, you may prefer somethign more like a KC62 or 1003 MK2. You can run those a little harder and they'll still sound like an extension of your speakers. Conversly since yous till have the svs try turning the freq down by 10hz and the gain up by +2-4, see if that helps things.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Před 6 měsíci

      I don't think REL designed their 8" T5X to compete against a 12" sub. The larger Rythmik will do all the things a larger sub will do, extend lower, play louder, etc... Both subs have great bass fidelity but an 8" cannot compete with a 12". REL & Rythmik both make excellent SQ subs, one of the biggest differences between the two is Rythmik doesn't really make anything small so that's a really nice slot REL fills with series T/X. The 1205 MK2, L12, and F12 are most similar within the brands but outside of that the two brands don't have much crossover in terms of subs that compare to eachother. If you want a small sub the t5x is great down to about 30hz in room but it's not going to satsify a basshead the way something like an L12 or 1205 MK2 will.

      I've paired REL & Rythmik subs together with great success but not other brands. REL & Rythmik don't use DSP and they're both SQ subs so its no surprise they pair extremely well. I don't know much about ML subs but personally I would not pair a DSP sub with a non-DSP sub unless you DSP your whole system and can account for the timing.

      I think you'd be most happy with something like a 1003 MK2 or T7X. T7X will have a little more fidelity, 1003MK2 will have more extension/output. Both sound great but if you want the most in bass fidelity that's gonna be the T7X. If you want both fidelity and lots of extension you'll need something bigger like a Rythmik F12SE. high level, not high pass. umm, it depends, if your amp has a shitty sub output or preout then yes the high level connection will be preferred but if your amp has a good subout or preout then the high level connection is not that big of a deal. Either way you're over thinking it, it's as simple as this, do you want the one that plays louder & lower or the one that has more fidelity? Personally I love extension so if I could only have one I'd go for the 1003 MK2 but your preference might be different, hope that helps.

      I can have them around the same price point here in Europe, 595 eur for t5x and 640 eur for ht 1003 mk2. I like my refinement, musicality of my fyne audio f501 speakers so the sub must complement that. Can t5x deliver some bass in movies also or is it too weak for that? A bit bigger sub like ht 1003 is maybe safer so you have plenty of spare power in both situations, music and movies. Tricky thing.. I have a Hegel h95 amp btw

    Really nice review! Love the comparison at the end too. My question is I’m looking to buy a REL sub and I listen to music 100% of the time. I have been looking at the T7X, HT/1003 & HT/1205. Would I be missing/gaining anything without having the High Level connection on the 1003 or 1005? My room is 12’X14’X8’. I might move to a 12’x24’X8’ room. Thanks!

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Před rokem +1

      i do not think the high-level connection should be any determining factor but the T/X range has better fidelity overall while the HT range has more output/extension overall. If you don't listen to music that goes below 30hz too often I think the T7X is a great choice but if you listen to more edm or hiphop or just want that thicker fuller & stronger sound the 1003MK2 will be the better solution.

      I have (2) T9x's in a 12x15 room, and they pressurize it wonderfully for all.. Bliss for musicality and speed, with the subsonic hit you need for movies. They sound much closer to the S series of subs, and that floor mounted radiator really let's the sound creep. I purposefully went with the T line so I could have the high level input, and was able to get them to blend in perfectly with my Polk LSiM's - and that's when the magic starts to happen, being able to close your eyes and not point to the sub in the room...wish I could hear how the mk2's sound.

      if you don't need the incredibly compact dimensions of the KC62 you certainly can save some money by getting something larger yet still relatively small like the HT 1003 MK2. Both subs are pretty awesome for different reasons but as far as sound quality I'd personally be happy with either one. The slight differences is more extension with the KC62, better transients with the 1003 MK2, but we're kind of splitting hairs, I'd say just get the one you want, both rock!

While I haven't heard the MK2's I can tell you that the MK1's don't even come close to the T9x's, as those are more in line sonically with the S series of subs, and the original HT1003 just sounds like a regular 10" sub trying really hard. The T9x's will shake the floor and your chair, giving you that tactile bass, even at subsonic frequencies, while the 1003's don't really ever get there. @NemoPropaganda yes, it is 3, 4 times the price of a normal big sub, but you pay for the fact that you get all the performance of a big 12" sub, in a minute sized sub, that fits away behind our corner tv stand and therefore takes up zero footprint...that is a real feit of engineering!
      It doesn't even rumble or vibrate when active!!
      We just get this glorious full-bodied bass accompanying our sennheiser ambeo max soundbar (which literally sings from 50hz and up), which creates a very full-well-rounded complex and comphrensive soundscape when watching movies, or listening to music.
      It can not be underestimated as to what an engineering feit KEF have achieve in creating the KC62, if it was easy, everyone would have done it...and for around £1200 (I got mine second hand, but new for £900) is a bargain for those who want a sub, but cant find one small enough, that is adequate enough...the KEF KC62 is tichy and big all at the same time (tichy in size, massive in bass reproduction). I have my KEF KC62 volume set to 3, out of 10 and it is still loud in a room which is 5m x 4m.
      Plus, it's not bass in a boomy way, but clean, precise, accurate and very very articulate bass reproduction..it really is astonishing.
