Surefire EDCL2-T [Full Review]

  • This is a review of the Surefire EDCL2T tactical flashlight that serves as a great everyday carry light. Here I take this flashlight out for some real world testing at various distances and explain some of the lights benefits along with its shortcomings. This flashlight has a long throw (TIR lens with 1200 lumens) and the flood on the light isn't bad either. The color is slightly warm for my taste, but it's not a dealbreaker whatsoever. I also compare this light to the Olight S1 mini Baton (600 lumens) since it's my only other EDC light and highlights many of the pros and cons of the EDCL2T. I compared the Surefire Tactician to this light prior to purchasing and found that this light would fit my needs better. This is in my opinion the best tactical flashlight of 2018.

    If you don't already have CCW insurance, consider joining USCCA with a special offer through We Run Guns here usccapartners.com/werunguns to get started. This link provides you with EXTRA PERKS, BONUSES or DISCOUNTS for joining and a small portion goes towards supporting the channel at NO ADDITIONAL COST to you. I'm personally a paying member and joined USCCA because I believe it's a great service should you EVER be in a self-defense scenario. You'll get access to a criminal defense attorney 24/7, 365 days a year, bail covered, and criminal/civil defense costs covered up to the amount you choose when you sign up. In addition to legal protection across all 50 states/ US territories, you'll get access to training resources, legal education, and a reciprocity map with state specific gun laws. Personally, the best part I like about USCCA is that you can choose your own attorney (unlike competitors) to ensure a high quality defense should you need it.

    In addition to a low 5 lumen option, a red light could be nice as well. White light travels way further even at 5 lumens. 5 lumens would definitely back light/silhouette you say rummaging through your car. A red light would help you to see and greatly reduce that signature. I always buy headlamps with a red light option for hiking if needed. Food for thought

    I ended up getting the tactician wish i went with the edcl2-t. Tactician is great but like u stated, being in a city more often than not i wish it had more throw/output. If you could guarantee me i wont need to use a light past 50yrds or outside in a city, id go tactician but thats the problem, no guarantees in life. i too noticed the flood of the tactician kind makes it seem not as bright from the other ambient light in the city. I do like the tactician for indoors applications tho,the floods amazing great and lets you identity everything in the room with no hot spot.

    • @werunguns
      @werunguns  Před 6 lety

      Don't worry you chose a good light for what it is intended, however I do prefer the EDCL2-T overall. For me, a tactical light needs to have good blinding power (under most lighting conditions) and that's what I was looking for here. You do have the advantage of a smaller and lighter weight.

    The fact that you cant use a 18650 due to the fact that they specifically bored the battery hole to only accept cr123 is a slap in the face, their lights are ok quality same stuff as any other imported brand, mainly stream light which retails for far less, yes their warranty is great but honestly ask your self how many times do you actually warranty anything in your house? People save your money the reason their lights are so expensive is because they have a bunch of obsessed fan boys ready to pay $200 for a flash light. its all in marketing and they do a very good job at it and the o light blew the surefire light out of the water, its a cool light but not at $200 msrp

      @@werungunsI think that surefire has a lot to learn from imported flash lights, yea I agree the quality is good, but lets not forget almost all flashlight brands use the same led brand (CREE), I would reason surefires pricing if they had some proprietary leds or technology, but instead they use the same leds and charge a premium for the brand. I think a lot of people would rather see reviews for Stream light, o light, fenix, ect and mabey even some cool cheap ebay flashlights the skys the limit, I think that in the gun world people are mislead to believe that a surefire is the god of flashlights and if you dont have one you suck and a lot of channels show extreme bias to it. That being said as to what else you could review, you could dive deeper and run performance tests on the flash lights I.E. durability, battery life, Practicality, and maybe even run updates in the long run 1 month, 3 months, 6, 1 year and so on. you also even test different brand 18650's, do charge test on those, run some amperage testing see if there are any differences between different brand 18650s. Anything that makes the content interesting so convey the way a flashlight performs or feels and the more helpful people will find it, most people like me would watch this right before buying a flash light, as for me I watched this video and I bought a streamlight right after. Needless to say your content is still very good and I wish you the most success.
