    Agreed...I've been carrying Surefire Aviators for a couple of decades now (since they were incandescent) and they have served me well. I've been carrying my A2LED Aviator since it came out. Once you get used to that red low output secondary beam it's something that's hard to live without. I hear the arguments and realize that there are smaller, brighter, more "advanced" options out there, and I have a few of those small ones that I attach to SAK's or carry around the house on occasion; but when I leave the house it's the Surefire that accompanies me. I don't see that changing any time soon. All those arguments don't amount to much vs. my personal experience with a light that has been with me though everything and never let me down.

    I have a Surefire Stiletto, and an Olight, and a couple of Maglights, a Ledlenser, and a Black Diamond headlamp. Like you, I'm a knife geek, but seeing as we spend half of our lives in the dark, being able to see is rather important. Buying American made is fabulous, but sometimes, you just get what's going to work for your EDC, or your kits. Good video!

    While I do agree Surefires are made solidly, I've had plenty of flashlights such as Fenix, Olight(albeit older ones) etc that have lasted me over 10 years without an issue, in fact, all my original lights still work to this day so I think the whole build quality/ reliability thing is played just because it's made in US. Have also heard many ppl including a lot of reviewers here on CZcams having issues with their surefires so no flashlight is perfect.

      I have an original fenix PD35 that I used as my primary duty light and it has taken a beating and still works completely fine, I’ve retired it now for sentimental reasons and I don’t want it lost or something happening to it, I would still say stick to surefire or streamlight if you’re just getting into lights

    I’ve had an og Surefire M-6 since 2006. It was $300 after a special $50 discount from Surefire at the time. I’ll probably hold it and pass it down to my kids. The 2000s Surefire product lines (2000-2010) is immortal and the gear holds up it’s resale value if not doubling or tripling over time.

    I think the Olight vs Surefire debate is kind of silly considering they are completely different philosophies of use. Olight offers more competitive features like magnetic recharging, while Surefire is the go-to bombproof option for when you need a simple lighting implement you can count on no matter what. I personally use Olight for everyday tasks, and have Surefires or Streamlights for all of my weapon-mounted and tactical lights.
    Btw, the Olights exploding thing is greatly exaggerated. There were a couple of instances where that happened to someone, but in both cases they were mixing old/new batteries from different brands which would cause any light to catastrophically malfunction like that. But I get it, most people are looking for reasons to hate a Chinese company and their QC hasn't always been great. But for everyday use I see no issues with using them, especially considering the attractive features they offer.

    I've had one for just under 2 years. Yeah there are cheaper brighter lights. Yeah the tint is nasty. But it just works. Low or high depending on how hard you hit the button and no way of accidentally locking it on.

      Since there is nothing else with the gas peddle style switch I think the answer will have to be yes.

    Well, I bit on the Olight. And here I am back to watching reviews on which sure fire I’m buying so what does that tell you. Simply said, olight is nice at the beginning and then it breaks, good luck getting olight to back its product up. They pretend they don’t understand you.

    Have a ton of lights, most from olight. Nitecore, Klarus and jetbeam to name a few. Been using them for over 10 years and haven't had a problem. But I am interested in buying a few surefire flashlights but the price combined with no recharging ability on most of the models I'm interested in has kept me away. Hearing that these lights are mostly made in china but only assembled here doesn't deserve a "made in the usa" label!! But what can I say we were sold to china a while back!! 🤷

    On this particular model..Surefire should be ashamed of themselves. I bought it and immediately returned it after I turned it on, that tint is GREEN.
    Major disappointment for me as I've bought lights from them since 2005 and never seen that before.
    Having said that I still enjoy all my other Surefire lights and I've never had an issue with any of them.

    That looks like a solid light for the limited use you do. I have a few lights and I use them every day and once I discovered moonlight modes I was hooked.
    I like your "bottomless pit" argument and I'll add someone else argument which was and I quote "I do support the American working man...me! I am an American working man and I'll buy what I want" so to say it's your money spend it any way you see fit I always say I'll buy American when I can. Now to muddy the water a little more how do those chest thumpers the buy oh lets say for example U.S. made spydercos knowing they also sell Chinese made knives too?

    • @itsaknifestyle8482
      @itsaknifestyle8482  Před 2 lety +2

      Lol what? While I'm not a fan of any new Olights, battery life is all relative to how you use it, I've had Olights that have lasted me over a month without charging. Crappy thing abt a lot of surefires is having to use primary 123s etc.

      Their turbo xx lumens run only for a short time afte the bettery is just obout 80% you only get int the high mode. It looks like the light switched to turbo but if you go back to high you will see that its the same lumens. Also they get very hot very quickly in turbo.

  • @kodyschmautz7799

    Made in America is such a simple concept that people get into this overly complicated never ending battle and it's funny cuz generally people seem to put more of a priority and emphasis on the literal location in which something was manufactured IE which soil it was made on and while yes usually 9 out of 10 times if something is made in America that almost always means it was made on the physical landmass that is considered American soil. But really the important Factor is not so much if it's made IN America but rather if it's made BY Americans with the end result profiting and stimulating the US economy, ideally creating and maintaining jobs within various sectors of US industry.
    To actually get into a pissing match over where the tooling and molds and other various manufacturing machines & equipment was sourced isnt arbitrary and a bit silly, but it's also just plain.... UN-American. Where do you think a lot if not most of the tools and machines were built that helped build this very Nation during it's dawn and during the industrial revolution as well. German steel played a major role in production of all kinds major and minor in the US so that very argument is just silly imho.

    The price of Surefire and what these lights offer absolutely DO NOT justify the cost. Sorry, but I'm more and more leaning towards not caring if things are made in America anymore. It is impossible to live in today's world and not buy products from China or other countries. Everything is made in China and there are some great flashlites that are coming out from there. Sorry Surefire but you will never get another dollar from me, made in America or not. Step up your game and stop using tech from the 90's.

    • @dizzy4303
      @dizzy4303 Před 4 měsíci

      They still use it because its proven to work. They are proven for MANY years to plain work in the toughest conditions. Cheaper lights are not equal to surefire. You gotta pay to play in this game and “just as good” mentality effects everything. Especially in the gun and gear market. Its false. Chinese lights are not just as good. They are not a long standing American based company that answers the phone and stands behind its product.

    • @JohnDoe-zg6fn
      @JohnDoe-zg6fn Před 4 měsíci

      @dizzy4303 Well, isn't it great that we live in a country where I can spend my money on what I want. I now own multiple Nitecore flashlights and one that I have been carrying for about 2 years now and have taken on multiple big game hunts, camping, fishing, climbing, etc and I have dropped it, banged it on objects, used it as a hammer, dropped it in a river, and off a side by side and this thing is still running without a hiccup. Can SureFire do that? Yeah, probably. But I paid half the price and get twice the output. So, I will continue to buy Nitecore and not give Surefire another dollar.

      I used to think the same thing. I was an Olight, Roryvon, Thrunite, Phenix guy myself. I bought a plethora of different Chinese lights. They were great and bright and cheap.
      After using them for years I started having issues with batteries, tail caps, heads and generally 90% of the lights quit working how they once did after a couple of years of use. Some were years of everyday hard use but still, I accept the lights to work.
      I bought a couple of Surefire handhelds over a decade ago, one for my father and one for myself and you know which lights still work without fail? The Surefires. Have I had issues with a Surefire, Cloud Defensive, Modlite? Not really.
      I had flickering issues with one older M640 pro while it was mounted on a rifle. Contacted Surefire and they took care of it. 8 months later mind you.
