- New for 2018 is the Surefire EDC1L-T. A single cell tactical light to replace the classic E1B and EB1 Backup lights. boasting a 500 Lumen(12,500 candella) brightness for 1.5hrs and a secondary 5 lumen/45hr light. This is a pre production sample. I'll provide links to vendors as they get them in stock.

Great points in your video! Finding one battery is always easier than two. Also having it in low constant on but having that instant option to go full 500 lm is huge. You could be navigating with the 5 lm and need to immediately ID a threat at longer range. The gas pedal switch allows for that all with one hand. This switch IMO is what sets Surefire apart from competitors.
Thank you. I've been on the fence about the EDCL1T and switchback for a very long time, but you made me add it to my cart. Can't wait to get it.
I’m not sure if Surefire has updated the edcl lineup or what. I recently purchased one, along with a thym switch back S model. First off, the light comes with a small lanyard ring at the top of the pressure switch which makes it impossible for the switchback to fit, so that had to be snapped off with a pair of wire cutters. With that gone, it cleared enough to allow the switchback and tail cap to be threaded in and make contact, but being stopped by the pocket clip. Having to remove the pocket clip (not fun), I can now rotate the switchback and pressure switch down until it makes contact. Finding the right spot where it’s enabling the light, reinstalling the pocket clip, everything sort of works until you want the 500lumen constant on twist which is not achievable as the switchback and pocket clip don’t allow you to twist that far around. Not sure what I’m doing wrong, but I’ve tried everything. It’s either you run the switchback and have your full capabilities of the constant on settings like normal, with no pocket clip. Or you run your pocket clip with the switchback and lose out on your constant on capability. Thyrm said, you can’t have your cake and eat it too I guess.
Nice video man, you helped me decide on this light over the tactician. Oh and btw the “tactician” isn’t what some people call it it’s what surefire calls it haha probably Yeager’s idea
Nice comparison of lights
Question then. For the constant on do you turn the bezel or tail cap around 11:15 it looks you twist the bezel. If so does adding the switchback deem the feature inoperable?
I have the Tactician, it's by far my favorite light. I have the 12 pack of surefire cr123a in storage but i use veeki rcr123a batteries and recharge them when I need to... you can't go wrong with a Surefire no matter which you choose.
Agree 100% You can't go wrong with either model. I too have the Tactician, amazing light! And what isn't mentioned enough is that there is a low setting on it..just unscrew the head 1/4 turn. I use rechargables on mine, works perfect.
You made the right choice.
Knowing the EDC1L-T is an upgrade from the Backup line, the specs aren't the same. Did you have any issues adding the Thyrm Switchback?
I had no problem adding the Thyrm Switchback. Additionally it actually works better on this light than any other Surefire lightbthat I own. It makes a great light even better!!
@@DanMar5858 how? I was able to get it on, but I totally lost all constant on high setting, unable to twist without the switchback hitting the pocket clip.
The other difference is the the backup eb1 had a tighter hotspot. This light still has a hotspot but alot more spill than the backup. The backup barely had any spill.
Any updates on how you like this light after 2.5 years?
Comparison vid please...edc l1 vs g2x tac.
Which model of the Switchback fits this light?
heres what I bought. they are currently on sale

Did it take any sanding to fit on there? I was trying to figure out if it would work on my 2T.
Does it take rechargeable battery?
Did you ever do a comparison with the Tactician?
yeah..this has alot more "throw" and distance despite lower lumen count..the tactician has a wider even beam
Great lakes prepper video?
Those are the two I'm trying to decide between. The Tactician has that max Vision beam on it which I'm not inherently opposed to, but for this light I want to be able to control a threat. The EDCLT1 is probably much better at blasting someone in the face.
Joe Schmoe did you pick one and if so how’d it go?
@@rsafree1139 EDCL1T and I absolutely love it.
Joe Schmoe cool, I just got one a few weeks ago and so far I really like it. Didn’t think I’d like the gas pedal UI so much
