    So, just tried this with NSB. Still works, but a few things to mention about my run.
    1, I'm only getting the core on Attu Island after the 240 days of stating Alaska is complete. However it still works even if the Japanese are holding the island when it finishes.
    2, Don't need to fully release Hawaii, Mariana, and Puerto Rico. Puppeting them works fine (And thus, you can use the Hawaiian/Mariana ports during the War) Japan didn't declare on Hawaii or Mariana before early 37 where I am currently, and I'm about ready to invade. So I don't think it's much of an issue.
    3, Didn't need to do War Plans>Asia>Orange. In the 2-3 false starts and the actual run I had, Japan declared the day after I failed to disarm my navy every time. It might be because I puppeted Hawaii instead of released them, but it happened pretty reliably for me.
    Far as invasion plans. Well I think I'm gonna take Taiwan for the airfield to get some air over the Home Islands with HFs and TACs. Might even bait Japan into navally invading Taiwan back. (Sucks that AI naval invasions can sail straight through 100 ships sitting on a sea zone they're landing in.) After that... Go for Tokyo, or the Southern Island? With the new supply system, hitting Tokyo is probably a better idea.

    • @Citrondricka
      @Citrondricka Před 2 lety +1

      I found this strat through a comment and tried a few variations of my own. I didn't release PR, which caused France to declare, but you can delay this for a year by rushing an intelligence agency and using a spy for diplo pressure in France to get a NAP. But probably due to the proximity of France's Caribbean holdings they will break it in 12 months and immediately declare on you. I find that Italy also often likes to join in.
      Being at war with France is...not terrible, actually. I haven't tried a run where I was at war from the beginning of the game yet, but remember it's still early France. Improve relations with either Belgium or the Netherlands to get docking access (they don't have the -5 penalty that UK does and have a +15 same ideology modifier), then use their ports to get naval supremacy in the Eastern part of the Atlantic. Naval invade from the US to around Calais, walk into Paris, and France will capitulate (you can start the preparation for the invasion ahead of time). Even if France joins the Allies, UK usually doesn't declare on you for a long time (and you can keep NAPing them when it expires); as long as UK doesn't join the war, the war will end as soon as you capitulate France. The early war with Italy also gives you an avenue to take them and Germany out early (depending on when Italy joins Axis). France has so many colonial holdings that you can simply liberate to many tiny nations to reduce WT, so you basically have free reign if you want to cheese further and puppet/annex metropolitan France.
      I didn't release Hawaii at all, and Japan still instantly declared as soon as I failed to disarm. Lets you send an attache early to China as well to farm XP.
      My focus order was to wait for 25 PP to core Alaska, then take continue new deal, wait for 150 PP to leave treaty, then WPA, wait for 150 PP to get the Silent Workhorse advisor, then take the research slot past WPA and down Neutrality Act until the second research slot. Election of 36 if you take FDR to help with stability you'll end up with poor support in Congress and need to invest a lot before you can take some of the other focuses; I think it might be better to do Neutrality Act right after new deal, because it will finish before you are at war, so you get the added benefit of having some congressmen support the government. Just delays your first research slot 70 days.

    • @Nikarus2370
      @Nikarus2370 Před 2 lety +1

      @@Citrondricka When you say you didn't release PR. Do you mean didn't do anything to them? Or you puppeted them?
      As in all my puppeting runs, I've not had any issues of them declaring (though they may have been tweaked)
      TBH though if I get some time off to play it, a run where I intentionally try and get wars with european powers might be interesting (democratic US almost WC)
      Is the war with France a "separate" war from the one with Japan.
      And as far as focus path, My runs before I've done: 25PP>NewDeal>WPA>Neutrality. NewDeal PP goes to leaving treaty, WPA to workhorse. And the 200 from Neutrality, part is spent on the Emergency decision, and then I try and grab both German and Italian scientists. After that, Arsenal of Democracy and then 2 research slots. If I were going to start stuff with Europe I might also go for the bonus synthetics research.

    • @Citrondricka
      @Citrondricka Před 2 lety

      @@Nikarus2370 I didn't release PR at all, it stayed an occupied territory, so France always declared.
      I found it's pretty easy to end up at war with pretty much all of Europe--led to a few resets because I wanted to join Allies. France will eventually join Allies on its own, and UK will join war against you in a few months. Using bases in the Netherlands/Belgium it should be easy to take out both UK and France, and I guess Philippines for AU/NZ, French Africa for South Africa. War with the Axis is easy because of being at war with Italy who will join. For eventually taking out the low countries and the other random countries that Germany declares on through focus, I'm not sure--I guess you can keep UK/Germany alive so they join Allies and then end up at war with you, or you can finish the war and join the Allies somehow I guess.
      The wars are each separate, yeah. At least until someone joins a faction, first of which is usually France. After capitulating France I was still at war with Japan.
      In my current game it's March 1940, I'm in the Allies, and Allies are at war with SU because SU decided to declare on Poland before Germany finished Danzig or War....and the war with the Axis ended basically right after Danzig or War, lol. I haven't joined the war yet and curious to see how this will turn out.

    Jut wanted to annotate that, to the best of my ability, it is impossible to execute this strategy and combine it with the "Reestablish the Gold Standard"

      No nat focus for 10 days, saves u the pp

    • @Nikarus2370
      @Nikarus2370 Před 2 lety

      The direct strategy itself is impossible to do for a F or Aggressive D (basically get War Powers act, and then kill your F support so you can go democratic) run as the US as there's no way to generate the PP to leave the treaties. But thinking on it. It'd be a tiny bit later, but you can probably use the Panay incident (can fire between 37 and 39 depending on how well Japan is doing in China), too get a war with Japan.
      It can be touchy on timing though, and if you start a civil war while at war with Japan... I dunno. Mechanics of international wars and civil wars tend to clash a bit. I've seen civil wars where some external nation ends up with all the land. Also for the US civil war, several positive bonuses that the nation has will go to the Democratic side, and not the player's (assuming they're going for F)
      Another option is to war Japan, and just wait around until the 1940 election... and if your demagogue has been in long enough, you should be able to pick the F candidate and switch without a civil war.

  • @joshfarrington2775
    @joshfarrington2775 Před 2 lety

    I only ask because I don’t remember what the new deal does. Is it possible to do this and then do the gold standard instead and then eventually do the confederacy?

    • @Nikarus2370
      @Nikarus2370 Před 2 lety

      Strictly speaking, no. Now I haven't tried this though. But in 38 or 39 there is an event based on Japan getting far enough in China, called the Panay incident. Which depending on choices, can start a war between the US and Japan.
      Thus if you were to avoid a civil war (get a demagogue as fast as possible, don't ally the silver shirts or do the tax reform 1 that triggers the civil war. Avoid the civil war while in this proxy war with Japan, as civil war mechanics get murky when other nations are involved), by 1940 you can swap to F without the civil war. After that you can do silver shirts and the confederate focuses without triggering a civil war (I think).
      This will put you a year and change behind the video on getting your War Economy, and it'll take a couple years longer to change govt than normal... But you'll still be a USA on War Eco 2-4 years earlier than normal

After that it'll be a few days before Britain says "U wot m8" and you have to promise to disarm. Then you get 30 days to do so- in my experience the very second the 30 days is up, Japan declares war. They still take weeks or months before they invade Attu though.

    I did my own variation on this strategy, I admit Puerto Rico as a state, prepare a naval invasion to France, and let them declare war on me. Then I can go to war with the UK by angering them with the manifest destiny branch. It does take a year longer to do with fascist America, but I gotta do a world conquest somehow.

      Yeah it definitely still works. Japan declared war right when I broke the disarmament agreement, but didn’t attack until April of ‘37. Plenty of time to get Alaska cored in the meantime.

    On the one hand, a very unbelievable opening - neither the lords of the usa nor the crowd they controlled wanted a war at that time.
    On the other hand, there really is a need for a certain level of construction in order for the conquest in the "defensive" war to be solved without territorial losses and smoothly.
    Thus, while you will get the restraints to go away, your power will be lost, which would be very important in activating the "national focuses" in the future, and therefore you will have to waste too much political force just to restore it.
    In addition, in the absence of improvements, you will have greater losses and much more effort to make an operation a success, which you will not be able to do for years due to premature "awakening."
    You’ll be practically at war earlier and for years to reclaim areas you shouldn’t, as it’s up to you to stay calm with the usa at the very beginning of the game.
    It is not a good deal because of the much earlier drowning in war, even if it could be done in the beginning.
    The usa has only won so far if they have provoked and waited to be attacked in a "tradition-respecting" way! Withdrawal from arms reduction talks is not the way to go!

    Okay but now you’re at war with japan😂 how difficult is it to finish out that war in a reasonable time?

      and? you still have more than 50 stability and 100 warsupport, japan cant reach your coast so if you only hold the island is pretty easy to ignore and wait for china to kill japan
