I related so hard when Ken said âwhen any life inconvenience happens and youâre like, âyou know, we just need to get takeoutâ.â
There are circumstances where it's not an excuse, it's a standard.
Moving... you move ya gotta get takeout. Especially on the day of the move.
Everyone's working, there's no leftovers, and you gotta get ready for bed/work the next day.
Everyone's been so busy that no one's gone to the shops, but no one notices till around dinner time.
Movie night, game night, etc... can be takeout.
Ken and Pewds talking while vaguely watching a video is a constant favorite
So I looked up this lady out of curiosity, and sheâs totally healthy according to her website/blog thing. Sheâs 55 now and was able to start eating breads, ice cream, milk, baked potatoes, crackers, bacon, scrambled eggs, and some other bland/carby foods. She said sheâs tried pretty much everything including hypnotherapy to be able to eat normally but it just hasnât worked.
I shall blindly believe you, random person on the internet! Thank you for your service.
You know what, mood. I'm extremely picky, most textures I cannot stand and have literally starved myself because there was nothing around I could eat without wanting to puke. Afterwards I couldnt drink water cause I threw it up so much I had trauma. I had lost 50 lbs and a lot of muscle. This girl definitely has (or had) an eating disorder, which until recently, and even still, not many are aware of. Itâs called ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder). Best advice a dietitian ever told me is that being healthy doesnât have to be all or nothing mentality. Just because you decided to be unhealthy one time doesnt mean you give up and be unhealthy the rest of the day or week, just be the best you can and eat the foods you like in moderation.
Yes!! Self control is the true test of eating healthy especially when unhealthy convenient food is everywhere!
Exactly! I've heard that mentality that you can have those bad foods every once in a blue moon will help it stay sustainable too
To be honest those dyed fries looked disgusting. Unnaturally coloured foods are such a turn off and you could never get me to eat those highlighter fries lol
Same.
I thought it was a good idea but did they have to do blue and green? First day she needs to go from normal to Smurf fries? Stick to warm colors like the fryâs normal golds.
I love how it's 5% reacting to the video, and 95% them just being friends and getting side tracked đ
Salad is one of many ways to prepare vegetables. Liking salad is not a requirement to being healthy.
Indeed, and it can be used as a filler doesn't always have to be eaten as a "salad".
Yes but it is a very good way to eat a lot at once, in a good variety, easily add protein, good for avoiding excessive grease and oil, and most people could find a dressing they like
Very true, but I feel like people limit themselves to the types of salads they get/normally see. You can make salads with rice, noodles, pasta, bread, etc. My personal favorite is rice noodle Vietnamese salad.
Yeah they could've done something else, like why didn't they try any meat for one. Asparagus isnt for everyone either and same goes for so many vegetables, they could have tried other things
As long as u eating something green

Felix translation for fries: Potatis chips
Literally everyone in sweden calls fries: Pommes or Strips
EXACTLY! i was deadass screaming when i heard him say we call it potato chips
@Rowdy Rosa yes
@Rowdy Rosa yes potatis chips literally means potato chips (the snack) đ french Fries are called pommes or pommes frites in swedish, borrowed from french
@Rowdy Rosa He hasnÂŽt lived in Sweden for a long time!
@Rowdy Rosa He probably wasn't paying full attention to what Ken was saying. Swedes call French fries pommes (frites) or strips.
When I was a kid I used to call the 2% milk with the blue cap "blue milk". One day when I was about 5 years old I asked my brother (18 at the time) to go to the store and get me "blue milk". He went bought a gallon of the 2% milk with the blue cap, and blue food dye. He dyed the milk blue. He thought it was hilarious. My 5 year old brain took it as a personal attack and cried uncontrollably until someone bought a new gallon of milk.
Your brother was right that was hilarious lol

What you expect: Reaction

I can completely sympathize with people who feel actual pain trying anything new like this and I know she is deeply struggling and I feel for that, but it's still f*ckin funny to watch her weep bc she's eating a blue French fry đ
Ken being so proud of just the existence of Mary is. too. cute.
Most channels the family stays hidden they record in a separate room where no one will ever see anything in their home meanwhile this channel Kens wife just casually doing chores in the background lol but kinda makes the feel of the video seem more relaxed like just some bros chilling at home and chatting it up I like it đ
So ken amd felix came with the perfect excuse for recording a bro talk, letâs be honest when this two âreactâ to a video the video doesnât really matter, they just start talking about personal stuff (food preferences, experiences, etc) wouldnât have it any other way đ
I love how he asks her stuff too, most creators would want to make it about themselves, but he values her opinion on some topics and I'm here for it
I just love the two of you talk about stuff and wander off, legit my favourite thing all day
I remember a few years ago, I was about 130 lbs or 60kg and we went in a school trip to a lake for a week. It was awesome, but seing all my classmates in shorts and stuff... I just felt fat, even though I wasn't overweight. So I started earing healthier and went to the gym pretty much every day. By the end of it, I was full blown anorexic, weighing just under 70 lbs (about 30kg) . I hoarded chocolate and I would bake and cook every day, but I'd always give it all away... it's crazy how much the mind plays into pretty much everything you do. Anyways, I'm good now. Gained some weight through medication and trying to lose it rn, but I don't wanna go that extreme again, after realizing I could have actually died.
I love kens new set up, just because heâs able to ask Mary little questions :) itâs so cute
To be fair, the therapist guy was so damn weird I wouldnât be surprised if heâs never successfully helped someone with a problem like this before. From facial expressions to the odd tone of voice and general emotional detachment, it wasnât exactly helpful to ask if she was mad at him, she shouldâve been prompting into talking more about her reaction and working through it, rather than prompting her to see him as a villain instead of someone genuinely trying to help.
Also, if she couldnât eat coloured fries yet why the hell did they go on to an even harder diet change? It was probably for TV but that more than likely wouldâve caused her to totally shut off to this sort of therapy permanently because she found it too traumatising. But I donât think the aim of that show has ever been to actually âhelpâ people, just exploit them.
This is exactly what I was thinking! Cognitive-behavioral therapy works wonders for cases like hers, but it felt like they werenât adapting to her. She even mentioned that the colored fries were too much at the time like bruh this guy sucks at being a therapist ngl
@@niconova25 I kinda wonder how many doctors and therapist out there don't realize they literally work for their patients and not the other way around. Or how many patients out there have terrible doctors who have convinced them they are at the mercy of whatever they decide and they don't get a say. It's so sad to see a power trip passed off as help and end up hurting someone more :/
Well, at least the result was good (I've seen comments saying this was for her daughter, and she was later able to eat more foods, and is currently rather healthy)
I'm wondering if they intended to like, desensitise her after the rainbow attempt ended how it did....still not a great decision, but maybe that was the case
It was really uncomfortable to watch especially when she was coughing and having convulsions and then the "therapist" trying to teach a lesson whilst she's crying. C'mon now you don't need to be a therapist to realise that this is just reinforcing the thoughts and behaviours that they are trying to change.
Exactly. These two idiots are always so painful to watch, their entire approach is just "shame someone and then force them to be different." Yeah, sure, that'll help đ... This lady is a great example, as there's clearly more going on here than just not liking other foods. It was apparently revealed later in the episode that she has a genetic predisposition to extreme food aversion, but she could've also had something psychological going on such as PTSD from an abusive relationship.
TLC is an exploitative, garbage network, and those two goofy goobers are right at home on it.
Pewds' setup and camera angle and light is so beautiful like an artsy movie and looks like he's looking at Ken. I love it.

OMG! Same at my elementary school...and then I found out I'm allergic to green food coloring...was not a fun day for elementary school me...
I was thinking of this too! We only did it in Kindergarten though. I remember that all the kids were asking how they made the eggs green lol

I remember my school doing this
Also they sometimes dyed the eggs to make them look like dinosaur eggs

as a belgian, living in the country that invented fries i can say double fried is the only way. first at max heat for a minute or two after u washed the cut potatoes so they dont stick to eachother, then let them rest for a few mins and then u fry them again at half power
Yes! And always remember to dry the potatoes off a little so all that water doesnât make the oil react! Double fried fries is the only way to cook fries lol
never tried double, triple cooked chips is the real food you need. these are better done as thick cut chips not french fries sized chips though.
Yes! Vlaamse friet! The absolute best fries. Thank you Belgium for inventing these. Lekker! After having real vlaamse friet, the fries in the US don't taste near as good anymore.
@@elenwinl9786 now u know how to make your own. for any questions i am here XD
Oh for sure! If making fries from scratch, you need to fry them at least twice so they come out crispy rather than soggy. I'm sure many people don't think about it much, since nowadays it's more common to fry or bake frozen fries.
My older two kids were picky eaters yes. Then I was blessed with my youngest. My 6 year old has never had a picky day in her life when it comes to food. She will eat almost anything and if you offer her something she has never eaten before, she always, always, always will try it because she says "it looks interesting". Bless her heart. She is so easy to feed.
Cilantro is literally a breed thatâs mixed between mint and parsley. Most everyone can get behind one or the other but for some reason when the two are mixed, some people are reminded of âsoapâ because of a bitter and âfreshâ after taste⊠if you donât like cilantro maybe itâs stigma so just try to eat a mint leaf with stalks and leaves of parsley (doesnât matter which one like Curly vs Italian flat leaf the curly one is stronger so just keep it in mind)
People say that it's genetic as well, whether or not the person tastes soap from cilantro or not is up to genetics

There are some dishes, where you need the onion in larger pieces to get the right taste. However, fun fact, in many of those dishes you're not always supposed to actually eat the onion afterwards.

My mother had a weird eating disorder where for 3 years she could really only eat a few things without it making her physically ill or in pain. I used to hate coconut, but I seem to like it more the older I get
Seriously. Only coconut I like is coconut water straight out of it. Delicious and doesn't really taste like coconut somehow. Otherwise it sucks
Blasphemy! Granted, the coconut shavings are the least tasty part of it, but coconut milk or, even better, coconut cream, just make everything they touch so creamy and satisfying! Then again, coconut cream also has an insane amount of fat, so it's probably not the best thing to consume on the regular.
I feel like Mary has been walking around with the same dinosaur throughout this whole video. Lol
Felix is now waiting for the French fry phase with Björn
It's an eating disorder called arfid. It's prevalent in people with autism and sensory disorders. I have it, and most foods do make me throw up and just imagining textures makes me gag. I had to get really creative with food prep and cooking, like putting mushrooms in a food processor, squishing the moisture out, adding egg and spices and making crispy mushroom patties in a pan because I hate mushy squishy food. But yeah she has arfid probably.
I was looking to see if someone would mention autism! Iâm autistic and although I do eat a lot healthier than the lady in this video and donât have ARFID luckily, I do have a lot of food restrictions texture and taste wise that really impact my ability to eat well. Sorry that you have to deal with ARFID, that sounds pretty rough.
Ken and Felix are the most dynamic duo of all, I always look forward to these crossover episodes
You can actually live off of potatoes with a bit of oil. They have a complete form of protein and it's possible to keep a healthy weight eating them. She could have done worse.
I thought that it was impossible to live off fries and it was all scripted but this makes sense, Thanks
White potatoes get a bad wrap, but they are rad. It was literally just trendy to shit on them because health influencers need to demonize things for content.

4 years ago I moved from America to Canada and, quite a similar to Ken, had a relationship/experience as Ken with food both before and after the transition. The difference in foods due to food standards (Canada's being higher also making the food being less addictive) makes it easier to maintain a healthy relationship with food, and now I'm finally cooking and preparing various things from scratch. Suffices to say that being removed from the food culture in the US has had a huge impact in my life, and yet this doesn't stop me from sometimes stopping to fondly remember and pine for the restaurants I miss having access to in SoCal.
He's accurate, Crinkle Cut is the worst of the fries and Waffle fries are indeed, the best. Shoe Strings a close second.

I live how Mary walks so normal in the backgroundđ Mary and Ken you are both so CUTE â€đ„°
In this episode of "two married men watch a video then goes on a tangent and spill their private life"...
This is like episode 5 of that
I am quite curious how things got to such an extreme extent. Watching her reaction doesnât make me laugh or feel bad. I just agree with Ken on how with the limited timeframe they were given, she was being pushed too hard for her situation. Itâs pretty hard/annoying for others to deal with someone who seems too fragile because having to be careful about ânormalâ things is a waste of time for people who donât have such problems. Putting yourself in her shoes isnât exactly easy either.
If they had time/werenât trying to record the video in a certain way, I think some approaches that would of helped include consulting on a couple more things. For instance, with the colorful fries (which look nasty to me, but could probably eat): perhaps they could inform her and do a blind test first with normal fries, and then switch between the two and see if she could handle that. If she canât, then they should find the root of the problem and solve that first (if she really wants to be able to eat healthy/more than just fries). Also forgot if they mentioned if sheâs okay with beverages or not (can temporarily rely on blended stuff if she can drink it).
And yikes, deep fried carrot doesnât sound particularly appetizing to me. They jumped from same texture to completely different. At least experiment with similar texture/similar taste. Fries and just deep fried category has such a wide range for someone who only eats fries. Carrot is crunchy, but itâs hard, and it tastesâŠI dunnoâŠfresh/clean? Potato is mushyâŠand easy to down like mush/baby food (just swallow it). It goes back to doing the blind taste test to figure out if she can handle taste/appearance of the food.
Iâm just babbling a bit too much since I was curious. Iâll go back into my hidey-hole now đ”âđ«
In this instance she most likely has ARFID - avoidant restrictive food intake disorder, you can read the specific criteria for it in DSM-5. People usually have a very hard time with food texture or smell or sound or whatever, which makes them pretty much afraid of certain foods. In time usually they start eating less and less, which is why they should get help. Usually people start eating only carbohydrate rich foods, deep fried is also what they enjoy. In time it gets more restrictive, like with her, that she is only able to eat very specific type of french fries now. The cure is pretty much like you described, veeeery slow exposure therapy. It's a fascinating condition because it seems so over the top to cry over a blue french fry, but for their brain it really is that scary. It's the same if we were but infront of a table full of bugs and told cmon eat it. You'd be so disgusted and probably also have a gag reflex, she just has it also with normal everyday food. Though condition to overcome.
@@tikker76 exactly what i came here to comment. one of my best friends has arfid and his only safe foods are potato chips (specifically lays original) and diet coke. heâs severely underweight and very sick as a result. itâs not just âbeing pickyâ itâs a disorder. he gets pale at even the suggestion of eating actual foods. i feel really bad for all the sufferers of the disorder and i couldnât laugh at what the ladyâs going through, seeing the result of it spiraling
@@babykillingcadillac6719 it must be very hard for you to watch him suffer like this. I do hope he gets some help and finds a professional who has experience with arfid. And it's totally normal when anxiety over a friend's condition gets too much for you too, it's very okay to seek help with that as well
i think this kind of thing is genetic. i feel really bad for her :(
OMG!! That's the first time I've seen Mary completely, I feel honored!! Awesome video!!
As someone with severe ocd and having been to stay at an ocd/eating disorder unit for a few months, this really looks like a combo of eating disorder and ocd.
They definitely pushed her wayyy too hard with that carrot, I think the colored fries were a great first step.
She's gonna need a lot of help to get through this, maybe even years. But the fact that she wants help tells me that she can get better. I hope she can overcome her anxiety
Felix with his pewds call really brought back good middle school memories. Thank you two for what you've helped me through unknowingly

âI think all kids go through the phase of wanting to eat French fries and chicken nuggets.â As a Hispanic, I believe that is an American thing.
Let me correct myself: People who donât grow up in America.
My brother in law whose Hispanic was like that as a kid. My husband and the rest of my in-laws made a game of trying to get him to eat other foods besides chicken nuggets. Today as an adult he has one of the healthiest diets in the family.
im hispanic but born in america i grew up with fries, nuggets and rice tacos lol
Hispanic here too my kids eat nuggets and fries every freaking day. Also the cilantro thing I never heard about. We have it on about everything
Yep lmao, but it could be the equivalent of chamoy with fruit or tamales
@@michibmoon Those tamales do be hitting hard, though.
You should just release uncut versions of these, so much fun
