Hey John awesome review I have question I just bought a used 2019 TLX with the advantage package with 28k miles my ? Is in the trunk where the compressor is there are like other items do you know what they are mines are missing.
Bought a 2020 TLX Advance. I don't see much love for the Advance trim on CZcams reviews as everyone seems to only cover the Aspec since it launched in 2018 for the 1st gen. I wanted all the features (more than the Aspec features) and wanted a classy look that was more of an understated sporty look than Aspec. Same exact performance as the Aspec. I'm glad because in many ways I like this 1st gen more than the 2nd gen. It is the last naturally aspirated V6. I got it in Modern Steel Metallic which is a gray with metallic flakes and I got the light gray interior which is only available with this exterior color. Feel ls very unique as I've not run into another TLX Advance ever. I can tell the Advance apart by it having the square fogs and the 360 cameras and the body colored rear spoiler.
Have the same car in white pearl you did not talk about witch also looks great with all the black on the car .Black on this car is to much black i love the black but wanted to stay away from that color.Great review.
Hey man, I really appreciate that! I may start trying to do more reviews haha doing it for a living would be a dream. In terms of buying it - I would definitely recommend it. It's a great value for the money in the larger sport sedan class. If you bought a comparably equipped BMW or Merc you'd be at like $60k+. Plus this thing is cheaper to fix, all motor NA, and still looks great! I'm hoping to review the new TLX Type S for the channel soon too, so hopefully that will be coming soon.
I have a '16 TLX Advance. Love the '18 and newer A-Spec versions. Am looking to upgrade to an A-Spec by the end of this year. Love my Advance but it looks so bland compared to the A-Spec.
How's your ride quality around town? I got the '18 A-Spec and it's quite rough. I would think that this would translate to better cornering and performance but it doesn't inspire much confidence for spirited driving compared to my '17.5 Maxima SV which was actually quite comfortable driving around town.
I have the same vehicle, ‘18 A-SPEC 3.5 SH-AWD. My ride quality is horrible to some degree. My vehicle shakes at highway speeds, roughly at 70 mph and above. Can’t seem to solve the issue whatsoever. BIG let down.
Acura's AWD system is great so I am definitely happy I went with AWD. With that said, coming from a Subaru WRX, this system is very different in that it is much more performance oriented as opposed Subaru's system which is more off-road oriented and a full-time AWD system. This system seems to neutralize understeer really well through the curves on a dry day due to its truly active torque vectoring(so fun btw), however in the weather it tends to lose traction pretty easily causing the car to misbehave. With that said, this effect may be amplified because the stock tires are eco sport tires and don't have great grip on wet surfaces. I am very interested to see how this car would behave with winter tires on it in a snow storm because when it does cut loose (which is pretty easy to make it do on a wet road) it does catch traction pretty quickly. This is different from my WRX which would just never cut loose on a wet road to begin with because the AWD system was always engaged. The downside to that though is that on a dry road in the summer it understeered like crazy whereas the acura feels like a rear wheel drive sports car on a dry road. That was a long answer but I hope it helps!
I found every thing I needed to know an 100% confidence in buying the this out of this video best video on CZcams about the TLX for sure… gonna probably watch this a few time after this and wen I get the car. Don’t know if you still have it but a update would be great
That’s awesome really glad to hear this was helpful! Yes my mom has this car now and she’s been driving it since 2019 with zero issues other than the battery to the key fob needing to be replaced which acura replaced under warranty. The motor/trans still feels brand new. Also haven’t had any wheel or tire issues which can be a common problem with newer competitors. I’m driving a 2020 330i xdrive right now that I bought 6 months ago and have already had to take it to BMW to fix a sidewall issue after hitting a small pothole.
djehy the ELS sound system is great. I’m a sound fanatic and this thing doesn’t disappoint at all, the surround sound feature combined with subwoofer does an amazing job of making music sound very true to sound if you set it correctly. With that said the sub is very powerful and if you like a bass heavy sound you can get that too.
