"Think of it as a giant didgeridoo" is not a sentence I expected to hear in an AOS lore video, but I appreciate it nonetheless.
Inner Magnus intensifies
What I like about Age of Sigmar is that it's a great contrast to 40k. If you want a gritty setting where all hope is lost and the people just endure out of sheer spite, go to 40k, but if you want a setting where there's still a lot of ugliness in the world, but there is an actual possibility that things can be made better, use AOS. People forget that Warhammer Fantasy Battle was not as dark as 40k, there were true allies and friends between races and neutral factions. And they should remember that before trashing the whole AOS setting.
FB were terrible shtty compared to AoS.
@@x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x I enjoyed them both. And I admit The End Times were poorly done. I've always seen them as just... different.
Fantasy was brutal and grimdark as heck too but yeah nothing compares to 40k that way
@@doomguy9049 oh it was brutal, but up until the end times there was genuine goodness and hope in some parts of it. 40k is just Evil and Less Evil.
@@yehiahuzayyin7972 I agree 100%
Oak of Ages is back!!!! Also, I really hope to see those fire spirits on the tabletop. Maybe as a Fireslayer unit?
Does anybody else think Alariel was supposed to get her own book at some point?
The timeline doesn’t lineup for that, they write the books about 6-8 months in advance (so they can start with layout and design stuff). Maybe at the early stages of the broken realms plannings there was one but she has been doing stuff through all the books instead so it makes sense to give her a short story like the other main players :)
Oak of Ages is mentioned in 2. Edition rulebook long before this.
What an awesome example of why AOS is great, a once prosperous city of magic and prophecy gets undermined by a wee bit of Tzeentch cultism and and now its a city of paranoid zealots gone into full witch hunting mode - Now THAT ladies and gentlemen is some real story progression as the game and world builds forwards.
Finally destruction takes the wheel!!! What an exciting time to be alive! Thanks for the constant updates Doug!!!
Kalus and tol, quest for the silver shard is a spinoff sequal to city of secrets for anyone interested
It is absolutely fantastic. Callis and Tol also have a number of short stories that are great too. Arika Zenthe also has her own novelle, The Heart of Winter.
That book was really good I wish they would write more.
Welcome back Oak of Ages!
The ork of ages has be back for a while
@@arch-warlock7409 Yes, as a withered and diseased husk. So... not really.
@@H240909 but it was still there:)
@@arch-warlock7409 god what is up with you people and saying it was mentioned before in prior additions
I wish they would write more Callis & Toll books those books are THE best writing Age of Sigmar has right now.
Calling it now, the "lifequake" is going to bring out the insect guys GW's been hinting at for awhile as a new army in 3rd edition AOS
Narh, it's just Kragnos coming out and whipping destruction into shape, thats my bet what the rest of this book will be like. We would have more rumor engine images that were unsolved if we had a new whacky race coming.
IMO we will get a small update for some of the more outdated ranges FEC, CoS, BoC, etc. then we will probably see whatever Malerions cooking.
@@jdc1748 kragnos&co are a given, but I'm thinking later down the line in the edition. They won't be there at launch of 3rd, but I think we might start seeing more of them in the next year or two after the first big event in AOS has wrapped up. Kind of like how the necroquake set the stage for all of 2nd. I agree that those other factions will probably get some more models at some point too - a few of the AOS roster are pretty bare bones.
Who are the insect guys and which allience are they in?
@@burningbronze7555 We don't know much about them. All we know is that they are called the "Silent Ones", that they may have pre-dated the gods bringing back all the races from the world that was, and that they are an underground, intelligent insectoid race. Probably not chaos worshipers and definitely not undead. They came up in Beastgrave and we found out they were disturbed by the necroquake, but we haven't really heard anything about them since then.
@@Haydin1117 make them destruction and make them what the Skaven are to chaos only different maybe orderly, magic, tech maybe some women?
AOS lore is becoming so epic and awe inspiring, it’s truly a setting on a scale we have never seen. I would love to see a masterclass Anime created, maybe by some of the amazing artists that did the animatrix
If Excelsis suffered such a backlash from a Tzeentchian insurgency, I can't possibly imagine how bad Brightspear and Greywater Fastness are going to have it. The latter has statues of Lords of Change right there on the battlements FFS.
Pah - only for target practice! :P
i didnt expect a giant ass tree to survive the old world
Anything going back to the Old World is just going to be some variation or another of "magic did it!"
In a setting that is increasingly centered around causality, I really wish it would stop leading back to this dead end. The whole damn world may as well have survived with the sheer amount of loopholes involved in this. If a planet blows up and everyone who mattered survived anyway, why should I be invested in any of this?
Great coverage thanks Doug.
This video was perfect, so great to listen to on my way home! Looking forward to the rest!
Looking forward to more! Thanks Doug.
wait... someone did something thats reminiscent of what elves want (oak of ages) and... there are consequences? SAY IT ISNT SO!?!!!?!?!?! thanks for the great lore this is awesome
Great intro my friend, can't wait to see all of this week's videos!
You sure know your audience. "Maybe more like golden bread crust." Where I was thinking autumnal leaves. That's why you're 2+ Doug and I'm just some elf trying to understand humans.
I love your end observation of why this is cool. I totally missed that
Would have been really cool to get Kalos and Tol models for this book instead of the witch hunter family but still looking forward to seeing their place in all this.
I wonder if they'll end up giving the Order of Azyr their own book or flesh them out more in the next Cities book.
With another super quality video you my friend have earned a new subscriber
Hey thank you so much 🥰
The oak of ages is back, and now there may be an answer to eight points being uncorrupted in the long game
Oak of Ages is mentioned in 2. Edition rulebook long before this.
@@TheVergoner you gonna comment this on everyone else's post.
Also it was never revived before this point so my statement and theory still stand
I hear "giant horn" and think Horn of Helm Hammerhand, and you think digeriedoo. Well, it takes all kinds.
Hey Doug can you make a video on the ecology of the Orks in AOS, how they are created, and who sees to their upbringings and such
Funny how many take it as big suprise that great oak of ages is back. Even thougt it has been already mentioned in 2. Edition rulebook before this.
They sound mafioso, these guys who are beating each other in that city.
I wonder what happens with the ironjawz during this kragnos book.
You & I both know you can't trust Aelves
I desperately want Fleetmaster Arika Zenthi to get rules and a model. Privateer Queen of Excelsis heck yeah.
Prediction not a spoiler I don’t have the book.
Cue the HHH theme music cause gordrak’s character is about to get buried.
Excited for the conclusion of these
Slaanesh or not, the Null have the right idea. Never trust an elf.
Calling it now, super conspiracy incoming. Alarielles spiritsong "lifequake" will now open the window for Orion to come, some crazy sea monsters for the idoneth, clan molder creates some realllllllly great abominations, another distruction faction with the kruelboyz that are termite bug (totally not tyranids) then to top it all off brings back nagash & Arkhan from teclis's kamahameha then BAM Stera & tomb kings! It obviously wont happen but a man can dream.
Hi dough, you speak of ´ tallus and call´ or something? The coolest figures in aos. But what are the names exact? And which book? Thznks😊👌
Greetings!
Preiss algorithm gods!
Finally. Oak is back. Godmess of life can resurect her husband now. (I think) Wild Hunt time!
Oak of Ages is mentioned in 2. Edition rulebook long before this.
For some reason i see alarielle as an ABBA fan, and that her spirit songs are just ABBA songs
Mummia here we go again
Where skaven?
Probably underneath excelsis.
They got cut from Broken Realms, along with the Beastmen. This chapter that Doug's detailing here was actually supposed to be the entire fourth book, which would have been Beastmen, Skaven, and Sylvaneth, but GW elected to just cut it to speed up their production schedule.
@@Ankhtowe me sad
@@TheVouki Me too, but nevertheless there it is.
.
The Oak of Ages surviving a world exploding and flying through space for hundred years at the minimum and conveniently landing in the Realm of Life and being fine. Is probably the dumbest thing I've heard in this setting so far.
It's okay. It's a big tree.
