    I think the reason the Stormcast didn't leave that Troggoth boss alone to die of his wounds is that Troggoths are known to regenerate lost limbs and otherwise fatal wounds. They need to make sure he's down for the count!
    That's my guess anyway.

    • @gwell2118
      @gwell2118 Před 3 lety +4

      actually something that Doug left out of the previous video was the reason Skragrott put the troggoths in front instead of the gargaunts was because they can regenerate and survive near fatal wounds better than the gargaunts and allow the city to waste its initail shooting volley. With the description showing that they could grow back whole arms and legs as long as they were still alive.

  • @maidros9856

    The end of the lore passages in the DoK battle tome alluded to Celestant Prime and Morathi coming to some sort of agreement in Dauntless Hall after Sigmar tried to reclaim Har Kuron. I’m guessing that is where she agreed to come to the aid of Excelsis.

Well i am very happy they didn't go "all is forgiven" and showed that she can't just flatter her way out of everything she does. I am very confident they will force her to make some form of concession in the future. Especially if they were about to execute her.

  • @gwell2118
    @gwell2118 Před 3 lety +10

    Itd hilarious. Even Be'lakor thinks the Twins campaign in Excelcius was a little lacklustre. Which is making me think that was the point. A little more thing that Doug kinda undersold. The Celestant Prime and Morathi weren't just bickering. The Celestant Prime actually had a force of Venators that ambushed Morathi and he was literally about to attack her with Ghal Maraz. So Grungi broke up more than just bickering.
    And i highly doubt she was there to take the city herself even if Kragnos wasn't there. That would have been too risky even for her. And more than likely her only true goal was to get some points with the other Order factions by helpingout. sHE has shown more than once she does not value Aelven lives at all. I was thinking the same thing. Her arrival in Excelsis was mostly to keep other Order factions from turning on her. Honestly, I felt she was the only character in all of Broken Realms who I ended up respecting more than when the story began. Don’t get me wrong, she’s super evil but she was the only one who wore it well. They ruined Negash and turned him into a joke as a character. The Slaanesh twins turned out to be kinda lame. And Kragnos just made me shrug. Kind of a letdown. Morathi owned being evil.

And Kragnos has a lot of potential but he needs to be fleshed out more. He needs a novel to himself. And the problem with nagash is he's got a case of Skelator syndrome. He's gotten his ass kicked so many times its hard to take him seriously anymore. Morathi is fine too but i was starting to worry they were just going to basically turn her into a Deus Ex Machina character were she just does whatever she wants and there are no consequences. I like AOS, but it still annoys me than nothing with a model ever dies. The books Keep trying to make a big deal out of a city being completely wiped out, but if the city is connected to a playable faction, then they just ad "There were some survivors, whatever".
      Factions keep getting almost wiped out over and over. And if a god gets defeated, they always come back. Sure, Nagash is the god of Death, so he shouldn't die permanently, but it happens too often.

    I'm not a fantasy battles player so I've got no attachment to all the old names, but I think it's kind of a bummer the old Dwarven gods are still around. I thought the KO had a whole 'the gods didn't save us so we saved ourselves' thing going, but it turns out the gods are still here? If they did help the KO secretly it undermines their independence, and if they *didn't* help the KO secretly then what were they doing!?

    I feel like BR: Kragnos was the weakest of all the BR stories. There's a lot of sound and violence, but in the end the only things that has changed is some new models are now in the game, so it feels much more like a marketing push than a satisfying story.

    I don't know if the Celestant Prime has an ace up his sleeve or if he's just gone crazy; challenging Morathi like that.
    He couldn't even defeat lady Olynder in their previous fight. Hopefully he had some upgrades, otherwise..Eck.
    I'm not sure Morathi cares much about whether other elves live or die. Maybe Morathi was targeting the city of Excelsis to make it part of her empire, but Kragnos beat her to it. I can't tell. Maybe more info will pop out the in the future.
    The implications for the future stories are interesting.

    • @gwell2118
      @gwell2118 Před 3 lety +1

      Well to be fair the Celestant Prime was winning against Olynder and was the more powerful, she just got a lucky shot with her hour glass. Better believe he's not going to let that happen again. In addition its heavily implied she was weakened from getting her ass handed to her by Kragnos, and with the CP having Ghal Maraz and the back up forces it is concievable they very might have killed her. Again gods are not immortal and can definatly be killed. And given her performance against Kragnos she doesn't seem to be the most effective fighter.
      As for Morathi obviously not, more than likely she was just trying to earn some good will after what happened in Anvilgard. Its very unlikely she was trying to take the city. The Daughters of Khaine don't have nearly the forces to truly threanen Sigmars empire directly. Even she wouldn't have tried to take a city that large herself (for those wondering Anvilgard as far as cities go was actually quite small, it was considered more of a border settlement).

    Morathi got to win in her book, Teclis won in his book and while Be'Lakor didn't win in his book, he still basically succeded with everything he wanted to do.
    Kragnos just straight up lost. Destruction finally got their place in the spotlight, but they are still just "the dumb ones". I thought they were building up Kragnos' revenge on Lord Kroak, but no. He was just tricked again. And Gordrak got his ass beat over and over. Champion of Gorkamorka my ass.
    And The Newborn!!! They were built up so much to be "More than just a Greater Daemon" but an actual personification of Slaanesh! I thought they would be on the level of a god, especially since they were so similair to Morathi. At first i thought they were gonna get to fight Kragnos, which sounded awesome. But then i thought they would fight Morathi, which sounded even better! 2 souls fighting eachother with 4 bodies! They could tell Morathi that "YOU MADE ME!!" basically. It would have been awesome. But NO!!
    They got killed by 1 Stormcast and 2 Witch Hunters.
    I don't care if it makes me sound like a stupid gamer, but Be'Lakor was right. That debut was freaking sad.

    I don’t know I like the idea that they used a misdirect to the Kragos out of there, but I guess my only hiccup with that plan is if you’re going to throw a distraction God into a hornets nest why not just throw him right into the middle of the ever chosen’s chaos keep in the eight points. I mean if you want to put chaos on the back for it just seems like that’s a great way to start is just hand them up walking earthquake and see what they do.
    I but I do like the idea that There is Miss trust between the elves and the rest of the order races because that was one of the things that always kind of rubbed me wrong was how willing the elves were able to play with all the other order races it just makes sense that there should be some miss trust their.
    But I still go back to this idea if all it takes to become a God and AOS is to eat some room stone and some souls there should be a lot more gods walking around

    • @gwell2118
      @gwell2118 Před 3 lety

      Well there is inevitably going to be issues with different people living together, but i don't really see the Aelfs having more trouble working with other races than the Duardin, etc. As for the whole god thing, gods in AOS aren't really gods the way we think of them. Its honestly more of a title to denote a powerful being. They aren't all powerful or even really immortal. And really to reach the level Kragnos did is honestly not an easy feet and even he almost died several times on his long road to power.

    • @Phox532
      @Phox532 Před 3 lety

      @@gwell2118 No I understand that it’s a way to denote a powerful being my point being that there should be 5000 of these beings running around the mortal realms right now and they’re not. It’s kind of the Fermi paradox of ASO. If gods can be creatives so “easily” then why are there not thousands.

    • @gwell2118
      @gwell2118 Před 3 lety

      @@Phox532 Well again Kragnos rise was not particularly "easy" and the story makes it clear he was very likely the most powerful of his race. Or atleast the most skilled in combat. And technically there actually are many beings with that power. You have godbeasts, dangerous monsters. And quite frankly very powerful servants or allies of existing gods. I mean there are certain greater demons that can probably go toe-to-toe with a god. And Gordrak literally fought evenly with Kragnos, so he could technically be called a god. Again godhood is more of a title than entity. And there are godbeasts that even Sigmar or Gorkamorka couldn't beat.
      And all that aside the story makes it clear Kragnos rise to power was a little unique, and likely doesn't happen very often. What with finding all those unique artefacts and winning all those battles without being killled long ago. In addition being able to inspire such belief in Orruks is not easy.

      @gwell2118 Před 3 lety +1

      @@gwayawan so you didn't like some aspects of it. That doesn't make the lore bad, and honestly a lot of Kragnos was pretty good. The twins were meant to be portrayed as inexsperienced, everyone just assumed they were god-tier. And Be'lakors actions were not undone it set up the next narrative event. Sorry you don't models but the Stormcast new units are greatly recieved. These stories have been greatly recieved and honestly Broken Realms is honestly better than 80% of WHF stories that are just nonsense battles over no-name hills because they couldn't alter the map.
      And the old world of course it was coherent in that regard, they just took medieval history tropes and just changed the names. But the writing for the old world was nothing special, it was sword and shield non-sense and they tried so hard to make it grim-derp that it was a miracle that for example the empire even survived as long as it did. It just kept getting saved by plot armour and bad writing mixed with one mary-sue after another. People just overpraise WHF because of nostalgia it was a boring setting overall.
      And honestly most of the nations in the old world weren't even fleshed out really, Cathay? rip-off china with little lore for years. Tiliea? Whats that GW says. Araby? Rip off crusade era Arab stereotypes that we never see. Only the actual old world and the elven lands were fleshed out really the rest of the map was just nonsense. Older lore doesn't count that was retconned years ago for other lands. And most of the characters in WHF were boring clichés. With a few exceptions. You think Kragnos was boring? He is basically just like every Ork character ever concieved by GW, and most Ogres.
      If you preferred WHF thats fine but don't try to argue it was better written. AOS does a much better job of creating engaging narratives with real imagination that don't stagnate for literal decades.
