  • Day 24 thru hiking the Oregon Desert Trail. We hike out of Frenchglen and up into the Steens Mountains. Because if the high snow pack, which is just now melting, the rivers are running high. We decide to take a high water alternate route around Big Indian Canyon, and hike the road up into the Steens. A big storm is coming tonight, and we prepare for the worst at camp.

Another short video, sorry guys. There just wasn't much to see along the way today. I try to focus on quality over quantity on these videos. Next episode is one of the longest in the series, and one of the most epic days of our ODT hike!

Had to do that a few nights ago on the Mogollon Rim Trail, everywhere else was too rocky!

Love the wide open spaces! I can't stand being boxed in!

One exception... i like being boxed in to deep, narrow canyons, caves and other "hidden places". Those are very intriguing to me

Naughty Girl Meadow 😂 I’d heard that BLM had changed the name, but I just can’t. The original name is Whorehouse Meadow. And as the name indicates, it’s where women would set up tents and wagons to offer their “services” to the sheepherders and other local men back in the day. Somehow Naughty Girl Meadow just doesn’t quite work in conveying the actual history.
Also thank you for the detailed ODT videos! I’ve been enjoying them and find them helpful in planning my own ODT hike.

Or maybe you need to understand the concept of zero days 😉

Oregon BLM does a better job maintaining public spots - hot springs especially.
