- Day 21 thru hiking the Oregon Desert Trail. Today was a slog through vast plains of sagebrush as I hike the remainder of a 40 mile water carry. I call this "Sage-Kansas". I reach a water source at the end of the day, just as the storm clouds roll in. I found my first tick of the trip here, inside my tent. Also, I'm pretty sure I heard a wolf howling nearby last night.

That sign was classic- miles from anywhere. And the endless sage brush, Awesome!
Haha right! Better look both ways
Pretty much a 30 mile day! Though the open views of miles of sage may be uninteresting, I think it's breathtaking! Nothing like that around here.
Great video; thank you! I loved the stop sign
These shots are spectacular my friend. Absolutely gorgeous work!
Thank you 🙂
Maybe that Stop sign in the middle of nowhere is for the wild horses. In 10 yrs, they'll probably into a traffic light.
I believe there's water (cow ponds)off that main gravel road.Been a few years
I wouldn't doubt it. Also not my first choice. Or my second haha.
precious water!
For sure!
That was a brutal day. I think you should walk the Texas recreation trail next
I think this is one of the issues that keeps the ODT from being more popular with long distance hikers. There is undeniably a lot of cool stuff, but there are also large parts of the route that just aren't very compelling walking.
❤
The stop sign is a desert joke.
The terrain looks flat. Is the issue just the sand? Better than some of the thickets I've seen you blow through. Was that Nevada that was a nightmare...perspective. 😊
The soft sand was getting old here for sure. Definitely no Nevada. But i don't even think about Nevada being bad anymore after Greenland. Those willows... i don't even want to think about it haha
40 miles? No thanks 😳
Just do a 40oz carry instead 🤣
5 or 6 miles of this shit. Hahaha
