Everyone is so caught up in the Wacken version (and I get that-- it's a masterpiece) that they forget how brilliant this performance is. Floor is absolutely magnificent here.

I love her little growls during the "Take me, cure me, kill me part, just adds some depth to the song that was missing with Tarjas version!
Yes it's very well mastered and recorded. Equal in quality to the Wacken DVD but with an even better performance from Floor.
@@ozzman123 Floor's performance is amazing and she definitely adds a layer of emotion and soul, but I wouldn't say those are "missing" from Tarja's version. Back then Nightwish still had an ethereal, dreamy sort of vibe and Tarja's performance fit that style perfectly.

Yep, utilizing all the different vocal styles she possesses (clean, operatic, raspy, screamed, growled) to befit each song. Now add Kai's drumming skills to that equation... If there's a more skilled metal drummer in Finland, I haven't seen him/her yet. God damn.

She does not just sing. She lives on stage. That's great.
Floor always looks like she loves being on stage no matter how long she's been up there on a night.
She's been performing onstage since she was 16. She's probably more comfortable onstage than off.
I saw her in concert a few months ago. The entire show you could tell she genuinely loved every second of it.
She sings like an angel.
She growls like a bear.
Nightwish is really a perfect combination of a grand operatic metal band, a beautiful poetic masterpiece and perfect voice of a perfect singer...
Last but not least. Floor Jansen perfects previous NW singers (I am so sorry to say this to Tarja and Annette fans) with some additional, uncomparable advantages..and beyond.

Kai fits Wintersun perfectly but imho Nightwish sounds better with Jukka. Kai's dynamics on hi-hat and ride 8th-notes, for example, annoy me in NW's music.

I know her singing at least since the early 2000s. 2003/2003.
And even before that, in the late 90s, she already was fantastic. But she just keeps getting better and better and better. She's right in her vocal prime. What a gift to the world she is.
I like especially the end of the song when Floor is out on the ‘catwalk’, twirls around, and mouths the words with the choir rather than singing into the microphone. It almost brings me to tears.
I love the way she uses the catwalk to build suspense for that finale.
That final note from Floor is amazing she puts so much power and emotion in it. It's part of what makes this the best version of ghost love story yet.
I thought I was the only one who prefer this version over the Wacken and Buenos Aires.. I just love her voice in this one

Ronald Berk actually I feel like Floor is the only one who really understands the lyrics of Nightwish songs and expresses their meaning in her vocals. She often gets overwhelmed by them on stage like to Nemo in Amsterdam, Ghost love score and The Poet and the pendulum in Wembley or Sleeping sun in Tampere. So cute and shows she's not a robot repeating the same program each night. But she really feels what she's singing!
She really lives the song. The last note is so perfect... even the little crack of her voice at the very end is perfect. Buenos Aires was great, Wacken was awesome, but this... is doubtlessly the most perfect version ever !

I must say I have never heard or seen a band and a singer that touch my soul and make me feel good about life. Floor Jansen is a once in a lifetime talent. I am a 54 year old man that truly loves rock music. Nightwish with Floor takes Rock Music to another level. I hope here in America that Nightwish can start getting more love with Floor. They were good before, but now they can blow out any band with this line up with their live performances. RAP and POP music is killing American Culture. America needs all the Nightwish they will give us.

I had not heard of Nightwish or Floor until a week or so ago so thought I would see what all the fuss is about and OMG I'm addicted. As an E.L.O. (symphonic rock and pop band) of some 45 years standing the Nightwish sound is both very pleasing and very different at the same time. I guess I have entered the Nightwish rabbit hole 😊👍

Up until a couple nights ago, I'd never even heard of this band. Found out about them through a "first reaction" broadcaster. Saw the Greatest Show on Earth, then this. Astounding! I'm a 70+ rock n roll fan who has never cared for metal bands. But this is a whole different genre. I love it!
Discovered them 2 years ago. Huge Megadeth fan but Nightwish has since been my favorite by far. Also saw them Iive a few years ago in California. Her vocals (Floor Jansen) were the best I have heard live from anyone and I have been to about 50 plus concerts of all genres. Floor is the third singer for the band.

The thing about Floor performing this compared to both Tarja and Annette is the fact that she (Floor) adds flourishes to this song that neither Tarja did on the recording or live, such as the Floor-gasm yell toward the end. Also, when you watch all three singers live, Floor is the only one that does not take off any notes and lets the backing vocal tracks take over. Tarja would take off during certain parts as did Annette, even more so. But Floor is continuing to sing throughout the song when she could easily just let the pre-recorded choir voices be the only vocals. THAT is what sets her performance of this song above Tarja and Annette for me.

Yes, she is very present throughout the song. I was SO pleased the first time I heard her ending, because I always thought that something should be there. I tried doing it myself when I sang along with it, but I don't have the voice for it. Floor does. Tarja sang it well, and so did Anette, but Floor is beyond words, she's so amazing.

The instant she changed the end - the song sort of became "hers," for me. I've always love Floor - I thought years ago she'd be perfect for this band - and she is!! Tarja was incredible, as well - I just think Floor fits this band in a way Tarja never did. She's a member of the band - not a Diva singing over everyone else. Love her and Love Nightwish!!

Everything else I have listened to - a huge range of every genre - over 50 years - has little to compare with this performance. I try so hard to restrict how often I listen to this, i hope never to tire of witnessing it.
Being reasonably fluent in Dutch helps me appreciate Floor that bit more too through her other public appearances ( check out Floor in Beste Zangers, Dutch TV show). Thank you team Nightwish.

I never ever thought I would enjoy another version of GLS more than Tarja on "End of An Era" (live) CD...but major props to Floor here, she absolutely nailed it. That was perfect. Goosebumps at the end. What a stage presence and HUGE sound from the entire band.
