Sitting watching youtube and munching on potato chips. So good! I’d wondered how this tasty snack is made. Yum, yum.
It amazes me how these factory machines move so quick and everything is measured in millimeters but runs to perfection.I worked in a bindery where they bind soft cover books and it was amazing to see it all come together,especially the pages flying thru the binder to make the books.

Good point, although I am amazed at how inneficient and innacurate vacuum robots are, like compared to factory quality stuff it's like all consumer type of things are whack, I guess price really defines that, so my point is I am amazed as you say how those factory machines are so efficient, accurate and everything but yet I cannot have such high precision vacuum robot, unless maybe I pay 100K :D

If they filled your bag all the way with chips, they'd all be broken in to tiny pieces by time they reach you through the transportation process. The "air" is used to cushion the chips during transport. Also, the air isn't air at all. It's nitrogen which is an inert gas. Oxygen in air would cause your chips to quickly spoil.

I bought two bags of Lay's Classic Potato Chips last week with two Tostitos Chunky Salsa Mild. I love them They are the best. The only problem was I couldn't stop eating them. I ate the whole bag at one time. LOL

Air is for safety of chips, they will not be broken.
What would be the point? Chips are measured to meet certain weight. If they fill them fully, theyll raise the price.
Another ignorant post about why a company like Lay's packages the chips the way they do.
You can't have a 100 % full bag.
1. You have to account for change of altitude and elevations. Allow for expansion and contraction of the bags.
2. A 100% full bag would also lead to chips being smashed into extremely tiny pieces.
