Plugging usb killer into a Hoverboard
I legitimately thought that, in this video, Austin would plug the USB Killer into one of the USB ports on his Tesla Model 3. The way I would have designed the system is to have pumped the voltage of the USB Killer into the battery pack and pray to all things holy that the battery pack doesn't explode as it charges. However, the charging current of the pack would have been in the neighborhood of ~1A, nowhere near the 32-48A the car supports, resulting in a charging speed of 1 mph if you're lucky. This means that if you were to charge your Tesla using a USB Killer, you would need to have it plugged in for almost two weeks if the battery is almost completely drained.

6:00 oooh im building a defence for these (or something similar) right now as part of my masters' thesis! I started building a program to stop UBS keystroke injection attacks (basically USB's that pretend to be a keyboard then run a script) Then I discovered that some of these keystroke injection attack devices basically self destruct after they deliver their payload by charging a series of capacitors and literally exploding, so I thought well shit what's the point if its still going to blow itself up and fuck up whatever its plugged into. The idea is to automatically 'eject' the device before it gets a chance to charge itself thereby stopping it from killing itself/the system its plugged into. Although after watching that one in action wellll I'm not sure I could defend against that without the script before it lol.
Iâm glad that my parents got the ârealâ hoverboard so my never exploded they legit just picked a random one and I guess luck was on our side

If you're afraid someone would use a USB killer on your device, you can purchase USB locks that come with a key. They come in a pack, not a bad price on places like Amazon, and can do a dandy good job. There are other types of port locks you can use to prevent other nefarious things from getting access.
