    I've been edcing an FNS9c for several months now. I either carry in an iwb holster or belly band with an undershirt it doesn't bother my skin not has it damaged my clothes. it is a great gun, carries like a small gun shoots like a full sized, it replaced my Glock 26.

  • @NICKydex01
    @NICKydex01 Před 7 lety +6

    Very good list! a few things with the FN. The mag release is indeed interchangeable with the larger pistols. Also, there is a loaded chamber indicator. Sights and grip are subjective. I really like the grip texture. I've carried this pistol every day for over a year and haven't had any issues with the grip tearing clothing or skin. I recently added the rubber texture Talon Grips, not because I don't like the factory texture, I actually want the texture extended up higher on the grip. Sights, mine has the factory night sights and I am right on with them. I actually painted the front halo blaze orange and blackened the rears, resulting in something almost identical to the Trijicon HDs.
    Good review overall. Some of your points are very subjective though.
    Last thing, trigger. Not only can that be subjective, but because of manufacturing processes, the trigger can vary gun to gun off the same assembly line. My FNS9c, for example, brand new, had a clean trigger with a 5.5# break. I've handled some that were close to 7# with a bit of creep, so, it can really vary.

    Great list and great review! ...Even In 2019. I have been carrying the Taurus PT111 since 2015 and it is amazing. I have put over 2000 rounds through it and the only failures were due to ammo or shooter issues. The gun itself has been flawless. I can highly recommend this firearm. The reliability and capacity are unmatched. And it looks good.
    Thanks for a great video Heg. Love your channel!

    I love my Taurus PT 111 G2, it is compact, 12+1 capacity, comes with 2 mags, all the safety features you could want , +P rated and good accuracy from a compact carry gun, the grip texturing is second to none, even has a loaded chamber indicator and for the jaw dropping difference I paid $200 even for mine brand spanking new. More and more holster makers are making rigs for them, I have a nice light weight kydex for carry and a home made belt slide for range and hiking. I keep it packed full of rem golden saber 124 grn +P's and will trust my life to my G2 anytime, and if a bear comes knocking I'll grab the 1911 with the same ammo but +P 185's, lol

    Great video. The FNS9c is what I carry right now on national Guard duty. Quality gun that is built very well. However, I have the P320 compact, so I got the subcompact x change kit with thoughts of it replacing my FNS9c. Still testing the subcompact though. I agree on the feel of the grip midules being cheap and scratching up easily. My P320c shows holster use after a couple months. I carried a Glock 26 for years, but found the FNS9c worked much better for me. Glocks just need too many upgrades out of the box for me compared to other offerings that are ready to go out of the box.
    Now for my use of double stack compacts, once S&W comes out woth a M2.0 M&P9c I will be sold. The grip texture on the M2.0 is perfect to me.

    I have owned the FNX-9, Glock 26, and Px4 Storm Subcompact. All were great shooting and dead on accurate. My preference for CCW, however, is the Px4 Storm Subcompact. The Glock 26 was fantastic, especially with a ghost trigger, night sights and integral laser. But I never have been a fan of striker fired pistols. I like SA/DA and the Storm is approximately the same width as the Glock 26, which is probably the key dimension for CCW, and it has 13 in the mag and one in the pipe. It also takes all the Px4 storm family of magazines, and putting a Storm compact mag with grip extension gives it the feel of a full sized pistol. All of the guns you evaluated are winners and I would be happy to carry any of them.

    I conceal carry the full size FNH FNS-9 for work. The grip texture can really tear up your hands after 300-400 rds. Easily remedied with a rubber grib. The stiff mag release is great for conceal carry. Not sure why people would want a easy to push mag release when CC'ing. Also the PT111 is a great pistol, dont let the fact that it's cheaper than the rest deter you. No issues, 12+1, feels great in the hands. Hickock45 loved it and so do I. The earlier versions have a spring issue that you'll want to beware of and it's easy and cheap to replace. Besides that issue the PT111 is my favorite CC pistol. I carried the Glock 43 for a while but the small magazine size made me choose the PT111 as my EDC.

    My suggestion is to buy a P320 in the carry size. It gives you the most variable options. You get a full size magazine with the carry grip but can go down to a sub compact size for easy conceal carry. Essentially you are buying 2 guns.

      Not sure what you are talking about. I have fired a few hundred rounds through mine and never had a single malfunction. I shot a Glock and I prefer my G2C. Glock was bulky and uncomfortable to shoot. Plus I could buy 3 G2C's for the price of one Glock. You see not everyone can afford to spend $500-$600 but still want to be able to protect themselves.

      I agree! I bought mine for under $200 and it’s been 100% reliable. I shoot better with it than most of my guns costing several times as much. If you should ever have to use it in a justified situation, it will sit in an evidence locker for 6 months to years before you see it again. I won’t cry, I’ll just buy another one and keep on keeping on. I have full confidence in this gun.

    I really think the PT111 Millennium G2 deserves a spot on any double stack carry list. For $250 you can't beat it for value. I've never had a failure on it, it carries 12 rounds, it has a rail, most importantly of all, it is supremely sexy. And everyone knows supreme sexiness always wins the fight.

      Maniac742 Totally agree with you. Love my PT111. Not a single failure with that gun. I also have a Bersa Thunder Pro 9mm Ultra Compact which is also a double stack that I like just as much at the PT111 and is just as reliable. A tad bit heavier than the PT111 and little more expensive but not as pricey as the guns on this list. I paid $459 at my local gun shop but you can probably get them cheaper on-line (I like to support my local businesses) so I would consider the Bersa a middle of the pack gun as far as price. Can't go wrong with either one as far as reliability.

I had the g26 for a bit and it was completely fine but it just didn't feel right in my hand and I couldn't seem to get dialed in with it. It's really all just personal preference.

    • @writtenrecord7193
      @writtenrecord7193 Před 7 lety

      Joshua Fortin . It has been 7 months since you posted a comment about loving your Walther P99AS compact. I second that. Never found a factory trigger in single action that is even close to my P99AS. And trigger-jobs on carry guns can create a potential legal problem(s) if ever firing in self defense. Carrying in DA makes it much safer than many other guns which are striker-fired but have no safety. People can rave all they want about not liking a safety on such a gun, and that is one more reason for appreciating this Walther. It needs no safety. Carried other weapons but the P99AS stands alone in my experience, now in my 36th year carrying.
      I'm the guy who likes to watch the faces when I bring my Super Blackhawk, 10 1/2" bull barrel, to the rifle range. Factory sights. First time I did that, two guys there laughed. Then I chambered my handloaded 180gr Sierra HP's on top of 39gr W296 & let her rip on the 100 yard steel plate. I fired 12 rounds. No more laughing.

    Regarding your comment about the mag release on the fns-9. It is very stiff, but when the shtf, you dont want part of your had to ride the mag release to where it ejects the mag. That's what I absolutely hated about my PPS, my index finger would ride the paddle release and it was so light if I shot it one handed the mag would release and the slide would close on an empty chamber.

  • @Prepare2Survive
    @Prepare2Survive Před 7 lety +1

    Yeah, I agree with your list. Maybe a Beretta px4 storm subcompact would take 5th on my list, but it's kinda wide so maybe the FNS is a better choice. I've been carrying a G19 for over a year and once a G26 goes on sale at my local gun store I think I will switch to that instead or maybe just carry both. I still haven't made my mind up yet on what single stack I want to get. Your videos give me a good idea, but I still can't make up my mind. If S&W updates the grip texture on the Shield 9mm I'll probably get that one.
