My wifes 2017 Versa SV got a check engine light and i had the code read, which was the dreaded P0705. All the taillights looked normal, with no dimming, etc. I took a chance and bought a new trans range sensor at the local nissan dealer for $162 and changed it myself today. The job wasn't too difficult for a shadetree mechanic like myself, took maybe 1.5 hours total. So far, so good, but we'll see how it behaves in the coming days. 😊
Hows it working??
@@Exar46 It's going great!!! No more P0705 codes! I also went to great effort to change her transmission fluid and filter and it all seems to be doing just fine as she drives it every day. I even dropped the transmission pan and cleaned off the three magnets inside it. I almost broke my arm from patting myself on the back for doing such a good job, and saving LOTS of money! That Nissan trans fluid was still about $25/qt, which is outrageous! I'm sure the repair shops get a price break on it though. So, you live and learn, right?
Thks big help
Got the vehicle this afternoon. Found the right reverse light dim. Clean lightly electric grease it clear the code. Drove for 30 minutes drove great. Dam taillights! 😵💫🐒😵💫
It pays to look for tsb and to pay attention to all symptoms. Good fix
Yeah thanks for the support
Man thanks a lot from MIAMI.Lets go bro !!!!
Any time! Thanks for the viewing
Wow. My 2013 Versa has similar issues. Scan was done and the P0705 code popped up. I replaced the Neutral Safety switch aka Transmission sensor and now the gear indicator lights are janky. The P, R, D, N, and L lights disappeared but the check engine stays on. I also replaced both reverse light bulbs as well because one wasn't working. This like a can of worms ..lol
Sorry to hear that you are having this issue. Watch the video again and take a look at the lights while someone is in the car.see if one is dim. Thanks for watching
@@djmobileauto Thank you so much for your reply. I did what you suggested. The reverse light on the driver side was still not working after being replaced so took it out and brushed the contacts. It seemed to fix the issue. Strange how a brake light can severely affect transmission operation. Oh eventually the gear lights also came back on. I'm just waiting for the engine light to go away after I drive it more.
You may have to get it cleared with the scan tool. Glad to know that you got through. There is a circuit board behind the light so anything can happen behind there
My 2019 has the same problems
@@maleasyasmith check both tail lights for rust or water damage and replace if necessary
Have seeen a case study about this exact issue years agoo. maybe from scanner danner or south main auto
Yeah, SD has one up on it. I ran into a few a while back and put up the case study but didn't make a video until now
Great video. Are you from TT.

My issue with my versa is the brake. I changed abs pump and brake booster complete also the spindles complete and I have to apply a lot of force to the brake pedal to stop the car. I'm also getting a kind of clicking/clonking noise when I release the brake pedal. Have you come across this issue?
Sounds like you may have an issue with lack of vacuum to assist the booster. May have to check that first.
I'm facing the same problem of disappearing of D or R or L from the gear indicator, sometimes with a bad jumping move from idle if I put it on D from P.
It happened today and I don't know what to do,
I drove the car cautiously to home and now I'm disappointed
You should have it diagnosed . Scan the vehicle. Don't change the transmission. Troubleshoot like I illustrated in the video. And let's see if this works. Let us know if you got through. Thanks again
Thank you for your support and big heart of yours,
I didn't expect to reply that fast, I promise I'll keep u updated tomorrow after checking it with computer
Having the same issue. On 2012 versa I know it can cause getting stuck in gear. But besides that will it cause internal damage in my transmission if I drive it? Before replacing tail light assembly. Or sensor?
Im haveing the same issue on 2012 nissan versa. P0705 hesitate some times . Will this cause internal issues with transmission. If not fixed right away in your opinion? Pertty much asking if i drive it before getting tail light or sensor replaced will i cause more damage. I know i risk getting stuck in gear.
No it shouldn't but the check light will come on and you may feel the delay or hesitant response from while driving
Thank you much respect
I'm also an auto electrical mechanic. I'm curious, around how much would you charge for a job like this?
Diagnosing time per hour, research time, TSB access, repair time separate. Meaning, customers think that we just plug in a scan tool and it tells us everything. This is one code that is misleading and would have another tech throw a transmission at it to fix this car and still be in the same position. Plus the amount of training and experience that goes into our trade. Charge to suit but don't under sell yourself and your skill.
So what do you do if you have changed the tail lights, fixed the head light wiring (rat chewed through it), and replaced the park range sensor but the permanent code will not go away?
Now my speedometer once again will not work but the car is shifting better🤷🏾♂️. This car is driving me nuts.
After all that is done, I may go after the speed sensors or the internals of the transmission. Or the TCM, I saw an TCM update with an OEM fixed a similar issue on a Nissan like this one
@@djmobileautook I'll check the speed sensors and fuses hopefully it's not too the tcm because that is inside of the CVT.
Post the fix if you get through. It may help someone else. Thanks again for your support
@@djmobileauto ok I'll see if I can post the fix for it. The permanent code did go away surprisingly but the speedometer is still not working and no codes have been thrown so I'll have to do some troubleshooting.
@@djmobileauto Here is how I fixed it czcams.com/video/A8HCrkDdTb0/video.htmlfeature=shared
Wish I had that 1100 dollar scanner
Me too 😂
