Y'all need to watch the full performance of Wadde Hadde Dudde Da! It is quite epic.
still agree
Performance-wise the best German ESC entry ever.
wadde hadde dudde da?
Stefan Raab from 2000 is Germany's biggest former comedy tv host and cause Germany was so bad at Eurovision he made this ;) he later also casted Lena as entry and Germany won ;) Raab is one of the most famous Germans ever xD
Guildo Horn, Max Mutzke, Lena, Roman Lob, basically every half decent song/performance from 1998 onwards (with the exception of Schulte and maybe Sürpriz) was only possible because of Stefan Raab.
More eurovision!
I support this ☝🏼
You need to listen to the entire song of "Wadde hadde dudde da"! You wont be disappointed, it was one of Stefan Raabs legendary ideas to crash the whole event :D
Watching the Eurovision entries from Germany definitely feels like night and day sometimes, it's such a contrast from one year to the next. They do have a great song every now and then. Love these Eurovision reactions, more pls.
They've sent the absolute best and the absolute worst Eurovision has ever seen. Every year you have to brace yourself. 😂
A few tidbits:
1959 - Alice and Ellen were the first Eurovision twins (and the first Eurovision singers to pose for Playboy - the Italian edition).
1961 - Lale was the original singer of the German standard Lilli Marlene
1964 - Nora was originally from Bulgaria.
1968 - Wencke is from Norway. She tried multiple times to go to Eurovision for her country (the last one in 2009), but only did it this time for Germany.
1969 - Siw is from Sweden, and she had represented her country back in 1960.
1973 - Gitte is from Denmark.
1976 - The first of the many German Eurovision songs written by Ralph Siegel. He also wrote 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1987, 1988, 1990, 1992, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2002 and 2003, as well as several Eurovision songs for other countries.
1977 - Silver Convention had a US #1 hit with Fly Robin Fly in 1976.
1978 - Ireen represented Luxembourg in 1974 and 1985.
1979 - The first time bare male chests were seen at Eurovision.
1982 - In her winning reprise, Nicole sang this song in German, English, French and Dutch.
1983 - Sadly, the guy in the moustache unalived himself the following year.
1987 - 19:05 that's Rob Pilatus of Milli Vanilli
1988 - Maxi and Chris are daughter and mother
1990 - Daniel is from Slovenia, and since Slovenia wasn't independent yet, he was actually singing in his home turf.
1992 - Although Wind competed three times at Eurovision, only singer Petra Scheeser and drummer Samy Khalifa were in all three times.
1998 - Not only did Guildo climbed the balcony, he also did a cowbell solo in this performance!
1999 - This song was sung in German, Turkish and English.
2000 - Stefan hosted Eurovision in 2011.
2009 - Yes, that's Dita Von Teese! And Oscar is actually from the US.
Wow, thank you so much for that. That’s really interesting!
Nicole in 1982 released this in English - OUTSTANDING.
The smiling drummer in 2006 was comedian Olli Dittrich.
Michael Schulte is probably my most favorite Eurovision entry. I discovered him before ESC too. Extremely soothing voice
The 2021 entry "I don't feel hate" was mostly for shits and giggles and the singer is a really nice guy. Even if the song wasn't like, good good, it was still fun. And, for last years (2022) eurovision, I recommend checking out Electric Callboy - Pump it, they'd applied as a candidate but didn't get into the final voting because radio stations decided they weren't radio friendly enough and kicked them out, and a lot of people where pissed about that. They had a good chance of being our entry for that year and not getting last place, they're really good and rather different from what you hear usually. So yeah do check them out!
Not sending EC was a loss to the whole competition. they're great.
Bon nuit ma cherie is indeed french. Singing in French has often been seen as romantic to some other european countries
It is a romance language after all. Badum-tsss
Only the title was french.
I love how much fun you guys have with these reactions, it's good Eurovision is supposed to be enjoyed
I think the reason why Glorious (38:00) didn't do good was because it sounded really close to Euphoria, the song that won the previous year. People may have thought they were ripping off the previous winner.
it was also just a very standard europop song
40:08 "It looks like she got Hulk-smashed through a fucking fairytale book."
That is one hell of a description. 🤯🤣
79-82 was quite a special, all of those songs became major hits.
Germany has had a number of great songs over the years!
but really bad wines
Great stuff guys. The 1998 entrant Guildo Horn deserves a full look, he's one of my favourite ever Eurovision performers. Check out Sercha Verduka from Ukraine if you can, it will amaze and confuse 😁
Sweden and Italy are great countries to check out in Eurovision, but personally, San Marino is an interesting one too and it's not such a long video. Love your reaction guys and it's funny that you recognised Dschingis Khan!
100% San Marino! What's more Eurovision than Serhat?
SchlagerLucas is a german CZcamsr, and Schlager is a german music style. You really need to like it though xD
Most of the time it is pretty upbeat music which is supposed to be "singable enough", that you can try singing it while drunk.
I think the most well known Schlager Song of the last 10 years-ish is "Atemlos durch die Nacht" - Helene Fischer.
It is so funny that I can understand the entire songtext and your reaction to it xD
German while sung actually doesn't sound that aggressive.
In 1957 there was a Jury of just a few people (10 per country, everybody gave 1 point). It was less about the singing, and more about the whole song.
Voting by Telephone was used from 2004 to 2008, after that it was a 50/50 split.
According to the lyrics the 1957 song contained words in English, French, Italian, Spanish and German (probably gave it a boost)
1959 hurts in my ears, ouch.
1960 title is indeed french. It means "Good night, my darling". The rest of the text is German.
1964s "Man gewöhnt sich so schnell an das Schöne" has the longest song title in the history of the contest xD
BTW, the neat german sentence "Die in Hell" (these in a light color) is pretty bad in english xD
Dschingis Khan and Boney M are legendary German groups.
Wadde Hadde Dudde Da is a weird way to say "Was hast du da" (proper German). Apperantly he heard a woman say it to her dog and decided to make a song out of it. Wouldn't be the first time (Maschendrahtzaun - worth a listen, really stupid but fun xD)
You don't wanna know, but here is the answer:
2008 #24 is Poland and #25 is UK
The recorded version of 2012 is breathtaking. With some proper sounds it gives me chills every time.
The songs from 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 have disappeared into obscurity. I completely forgot "Is it right" existed.
2015 and 2016 are a shame because they are awesome songs.
2018 first place? A fing chicken dance on stage. Israel with Netta and "Toy", one of the worst and most forgettable winners in my opinion.
2021 is a comedian, which explains the weirdness of the song.
2022 was by far the worst song we have ever sent. No soul, very slow, bad voice (compared to other competitors) and overall just boring.
I know it is expensive to host the contest, but I would love some proper German contenders in the next years.
Schlager Lucas is Swedish. An old nickname for the Swedish selection contest Melodifestivalen is "Schlagerfestivalen" and some even call ESC "Eurovisionsschlagerfestivalen" (Eurovision Schlager Festival) here.
Back in the 60-90s Sweden sent a lot of entries that is considered to be "schlager" songs in Sweden. Swedish schlager might not be the same as the original German schlager genre, but Lucas is a Swede.
I actually think that Atemlos is an actual pop song and people only keep saying it is a Schlager song because Helene up until that was next to exclusively a Schlager singer and marketing and all did the rest. If the song would be in English and no, changing the language only doesn't make it a different genre and would it be from a different singer people would say it's a pop song.
@@watchnocatch171 According to Wiki it is a Schlager song. It is very pop-like, but it still has the same qualitites as standard Schlager
@@LexusLFA554 As most other Pop songs have as well. According to this Britney Spears would be Schlager as well. Wikipedia kept saying for years and the non German pages of her article still do it til this day that her birth name is Jelena or some variety of this although since the beginning she said her birth name is Helene. Only in like 2020 she managed that at least the German page finally got corrected. So I wouldn't always completely trust in wikipedia. As I said I am extremely sure that her past as a Schlager singer heavily influences the perception of Atemlos and how it got marketed. There was this already biggest Schlager singer who got a song that made her even so much bigger still. The Schlager people would have done everything to not lose her to Pop of course. Helene is money. I guess it wouldn't be the most convenient thing for them when their biggest Schlager star would be most known for a Pop song. So they just called it a Schlager and the people didn't care that much and went with it. Even more she never wanted to be a Schlager singer. She always wanted to be a Pop singer. She just knew that this might have been her only chance and she didn't dislike it, but that was not what she dreamed of. Now that she started writing and producing herself with a lot of people when for her last album except for one song they were entirely written for her by others you can clearly see what step she finally completed that took her so long to start. She said it's the first time as an artist that she really feels good about it. Herzbeben is even more obviously a Pop song and it still got the Schlager branding. With Vamos a marte it's the same. If that's not just a German-Latin-Pop song I don't know what it is. People still say it's Schlager. This really led to that Germans see a lot of Pop songs as Schlager songs now all because they made a Pop song a Schlager song because of Helene. Of course they aren't the most different genres and they influenced each other if you don't go as far as to say that Pop actually comes from Schlager. Maybe think about it as I did. I expect that at least it won't stay a Schlager that remains as the typical Schlager. You said as well it's very pop-like. At some point a song has to stop being a Schlager and as I said earlier in this text other pop super stars' music would have to be Schlager too if you use the same standards and nobody calls them Schlager if it's Britney or Lady Gaga or whoever.
You really have to react to 3rd and 4th paces. They are something. First 10 places are usually great and sometimes other down the line might be great. See this year Snap. You have to remember that sometimes first places can have additional points based on sympathy the country that sent them has in Europe. Is a popularity contest too, sometimes.
And the 5th places!
(I'm not just saying that because I'm a Swede, and that's our spot...😄)
Finally someone who appreciates Joy Flemming. I sometimes wonder about our placements. Like some years I don't get why we were rated so high and then some I love get rly low placements
Roger Cicero was really great! Really glad I got to hear him live before he passed away.
It's so joyful to see you both still revelling in the power, the glory, the beauty and the complete and utter madness that is Eurovision.
Thank you so much for reacting to more eurovision. 💖
As a German eurovision fan I can say that 2021 was a wtf moment for me too... our broadcaster just chose that internally and the placement was as expected.
I think we aren't consistent in our entries because we never had much success from the 2000 on so we change it up and see what sticks😅
I still love the contest though. It's been a tradition in my family to have a watch party every year since I've been a child and I keep coming back to it because I like the peagentry and hearing music from all over Europe. ❤
Though Leon's Planet Blue was unfairly eliminated (because only listened to audio-only in studio and it relies heavy on visuals too), the consequences were even more unfair for other countries. They added a so called 'big four rule": the 4 countries who contributed most automatically get at least a spot in the ranking, which were France, Spain, Germany and UK. Later on Italy added.
Gosh, I ♥ Americans to react to the Eurovision and Junior Eurovision songs. So good to hear your opinion.
Fun facts the sequel #1: 1962's entry, "Zwei kleine Italiener" (Two little Italians) actually referred to the influx of Italian workers in Germany, the so-called "guest workers" -- many of whom decided to stay. The song is about them being homesick, watching others go on vacation to Italy while they had to stay back in the cold North to earn money rather than seeing their families back home. It was a light, sympathetic (if slightly condescending) way of addressing a very real situation. The singer, Germany's teenage darling at the time (think Disney Club), later became a serious stage actress.
Wencke Myhre, the 1968 contestant, was actually Norwegian and had a good run of about 10 years singing easy-listening pop in German. Back home in Norway, she was known as a more than decent jazz singer. Next year's contestant, Siw Malmkvist, was Swedish, and Gitte Haenning sang for Germany in 1973 ... and she was Danish. All three ladies were not quite A-listers at the time, but still very popular for a few years, exclusively singing in German.
Joy Fleming (1975) also was originally a good jazz singer; doing straight pop was quite a departure from her usual material, and did her no real favors.
Eurovision Copenhagen 2014.....Poland.....Donatan and Cleo....We are Slavic song, live performance......Woo hoo, hold on to your hats, might be the sexiest ever (parental guidance advised) Certainly lives long in the memory.
Daniel and I now best buds over Dschinghis Khan. Love the shoutout and surprising enthusiasm not to mention nostalgia by him! 🤘😁🤘
Just discovered your channel thanks to your reactions to Eurovision and I loved every single video so you gained a new subscriber :) Cheers, guys!
At 25:34 by Eliminated, it means that they were eliminated in the pre-qualifying round, a part of Eurovision that happened in 1993 with 7 eastern nations (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Hungary, Romania, Estonia and Slovakia) and In 1996 with 29 (all countries competing at the time). Germany was eliminated, and this means that they did not compete in the official contest with 23 contestants.
That elimination leads to the rules change that Germany and some others are always in the finals. They where afraid Germany loose interest and stop participating but Germany is one of the biggest financial Spender of the Eurovision.😊
A Schlager is a hit, a Schläger is a sports racket, the saber of academic fencing or violent bullies ( rowdies/ ruffian).
They totally owned 1980s Eurovision, some great songs.
I wonder if joy fleming was actually used as inspiration in some modern anime.
1975 this song is Epic
Rip Joy Fleming
It's just nice seeing you have fun with Eurovision. I love how you complimented some the true German greats like "Ein Lied kann eine Brücke sein" and "You Let Me Walk Alone". Also fun to see you jam out to the more "club"-like songs.
If you want to experience a country that more often than not just sends whatever random stuff they like, I would suggest Moldova or Georgia. They debuted quite recently, so the videos are shorter too.
The song from 3018 from michael schulte is one of my favourites because you can really hear the emotions and he sings this to his dead father. I hope you can react to the whole song🙏🏻
still mad about how joy fleming was cheated with her 17th place, that woman had some lungs dude and so much fun on stage whenever she sang
ESC - that´s the key on my keyboard I press in case of emergency and the ESC is just a thing I would definitely press this button pretty quick.
Gitte from 1973 I think it was, she is Danish. Nino de Angelo is a well known German artist. One of my favorites is Germany 2007, but sadly Roger Cicero past away somewhere in the 2010s don't remember the specific year. And yes I also think that 2008 really wasn't one of their best years. The Lady in 2009 is Dita Von Tese, you might have heard about her. And 2018 is a really lovely song, One of my favorites that year.
Conny Froboess was so cute.
Btw. some of the first contestants are still alive. Like the Kessler Twins for example.
I laughed so hard! You are absolutely right, we are crazy in Eurovision…. Everytime completely different! 😂🔥 🎉
Love from Germany 😊
1989 Nino di Angelo still sings today
Keep reacting to Eurovision please! ❤
You two got a new fan from Brazil! 🇧🇷 loving your videos.
Some trivia and thoughts of me:
1962: The song "2 kleine Italiener" is about italian guest workers in Germany at that time. It describes how they miss their home and their girlfriends Tina and Marina. So actually the lyrics are not that happy as the music sounds.
1975: I guess the song was a bit too modern at this time. Europe was not ready for this yet. :D But another important point: There was not televoting at this time. So a jury with 10 people from every country gave their points. Maybe they were a bit more conservative than the audience. I wonder how high it had placed if there had been televoting.
1980: Guys, Katja Ebstein is a f*cking Eurovision legend. :D If you noticed: She represented Germany in Eurovision three times (1970, 1972 and 1980) and this performance of 1980 is just iconic. :D
2000: "Wadde hadde dude da?" is no grammatically correct German. :D Correct it would be: "Was hast du da?" Stefan Raab told that he saw a woman with her dog and the dog had something in their mouth, so the woman said: "Wadde hadde dude da?" Raab found that so funny that he made a song about it. :D
2008: Actually the No Angels can sing. I saw them live a few times. No idea what was going on with them that evening.
The No Angels were Germany's answer to the Spice Girls. (This was their attempt at a reunion.) They most definitely can sing. But a lot of artists complained in recent years that the sound system on stage was horrible. They couldn't hear themselves. Maybe that's what was happening this year.
Fun Facts, the next other sequel: The 1996 entry didn't make it to the finals; the only year without a German entry. Quite the scandal, as back then Germany was the biggest financial contributor to the organization. They changed the rules soon after, and nowadays the biggest financial supporters (Germany, France, the UK) get an automatic free pass to the Finals.
Guildo Horn (1998) was actually a comedian who also sang a little; somehow made it through on what nearly amounted to a dare. The next year, we sent a Turkish group to the contest. They were never heard from again.
Stefan Raab was a TV comedic presenter and producer who for a few years actually ran his own, kind of counter-culture contest for a Eurovision entry. Far less mainstream, arguably more in sync with then-current styles. 2004's candidate, singer-songwriter Max Mutzke, won Raab's pre-selection contest.
Corinna May (2002) was blind; she blamed her bad placement on people being prejudiced against her because her disability stopped her from giving a visually more exciting performance. (Honestly? Not true; she was just not contemporary enough.)
Oh yeah, and we have an active C&W scene in Germany. :-)
I feel hungover listening to these and I never touched a drop!
The 70’s were the wildest decade
Fun facts, the other sequel: Les Humphries (British) had a few good years with his group (NOT with that song, though!), but was much more successful as a producer. 1977's Silver Convention had a couple of disco hits before taking part in Eurovision. Ireen Sheer (1978) was British. Dschingis Khan (multi-national) caused a bit of controversy-- people thought it was an inappropriate song to perform in Israel. Lena Valaitis (1981) was of Lithuanian descent.
The letter "ß" stands for a double-ss, and is called "ess-zett", due to the common script/font in use pre-WW II; they literally combined two different ways of writing "s" into a new letter. "Bisschen" means "a little bit"; some people scoffed that "Ein bisschen Frieden" (A little bit of peace) was equivalent to being "a little pregnant". Nicole was one of the youngest contestants in Eurovision; she was only 16 when she won.
I now remember exactly why I started skipping Eurovision completely since the early 1990s! (Also, we usually had a public-vote televised contest of who to send to Eurovision ...)
Fun Fact to 'Dschinghis Khan': 3rd guy from the right is today involved in Eurovision jury.
Germany's songs are a lot of hit and miss in the past decades. We here in Germany haven't found a good concept to find a good singer/songwriter with a high class catchy song.
Mekado still one of my favorite underrated eurovision songs, still a banger. By the way Stefan Raab is probably the most successful one here about eurovision, he produced guildo horns songs, was singing himself there and found Max Mutzke, Lena and Roman Lob via pre casting. Edit: Cascada was so bad because Glorious sounds very similar to loreen - euphoria and she won the year before.
Germany, the GOAT in music. They were never afraid to experiment and thanks to that whenever they win, they win big time. You lot owe Modern Talking and Boney M to Germany, and I owe them my favourite song, my favourite Eurovision song and many personal favourites. Their brought their share of gems to Eurovision too, like:
1956 the latter: Ballads, ballads everywhere - yet Germany sends a rock song, and a pretty cool one at that.
1975: Hey, we don't know either what jury was on that year. Nowadays this is one of the favourites of Eurovision community, year after year getting to their top 250.
1979: You're welcome. It's one of those Eurovision songs that quietly made their way to the mainstream and no one but the fans know where they originated.
1994: This was actually bookies favourite to win that year. But Ireland swept it once again, and on top of that, debuting Poland also came ahead. Which it deserved to do, but... You know, that's a good example how Eurovision can always surprise.
1996: The song that singlehandedly turned Eurovision upside down. The fact that juries turned down this GREAT song over some not-so-great ballads sparked a controversy, which resulted with abandoning juries in 1998 in favour of televote, with some exceptions. Juries returned a decade later, because while they can get too technical or too conservative at times, the populace has its own share of weaknesses, like getting easily impressed by gimmicks and staging or voting for neighbouring countries. Now half of the points is given by jury and the other by televote.
Additionally, Germany were so upset they missed the Eurovision final that they eventually convinced EBU to establish Big 5, which automatically qualifies to the final in exchange for giving tons of money to the EBU.
2003: Cool one, isn't it? This was actually written by the same person as Ein Bischen Frieden.
2010: My favourite Eurovision song. Needs to be listened in full though, having this fragment alone breaks the effect that Lena's stage charisma creates.
2011: To my knowledge, Lena is one of three winners to try defend their title the following year. The other two are actually the first two, Lys Assia and Corry Brokken, who both competed in the 1956-8 contests. Lys Assia won the first, Corry won the second, neither won the third!
2014: The singer here is actually Polish, and the song kept charting in Poland for months after the contest. I like to think of Is It Right as the true Polish entry that year, I can't stand Slavic Girls.
Nino de Angelo was a very popular artist in the 80's well in Europe of course
Fun facts:
1. Freddy Quinn, the 1957 entry, and sang a rock'n'roll number, was actually Austrian, had an American stepfather and lived with him in Nashville for quite some time. He was an actor, singer and circus trapeze artist. His biggest successes were in singing shanty and seafaring songs, as well as country&western in his later years.
2. The "Telephone" sng was indeed romantic; from the snippet of lyrics in the clip, the girl was begging the phone to ring to hear from her SO.
3. The two girls representing Germany in 1959, Alice and Ellen Kessler, were real-life twins, also did some acting and had quite a good, successful run performing in Las Vegas during the 1960s.
You guys should really watch the full 2000 german entry Stefan Raab - Wadde hadde dudde da!
Stefan is and has been a well known comedian and television host in germany with his own late night show for decades. His entry was basically about punkin' the entire Eurovision songcontest and all the political BS. The song is about an eldery woman walking her dog in the park and the dog had something in it's mouth. She then speaks to her dog in a silly tone in slurrish german dialect asking 'What do you have there?'.
So the entire songlyrics aren't even in formal german language. It's just a jumble mumble of made up words and slang. The entire performance, (from the costumes to the choreo) is all a big ESC parody. And the best part of it all was they got in 5th place!
A little sidenote: Stefan also managed several other german ESC entries. From 1998s' Guildo - Guildo hat euch lieb. (The creepy dude who climbed the railing and loves you.😂) to 2010's winner Lena - Satellite.
Just for your info there usually is a preseltionof different acts and then people vote, that how you get variety
Nicole from 1982 and the song Ein Bisschen Frieden shook everybody up, so beautiful, still gives me goosebumps. She also sang the song in English, Dutch but the German version obviously was the best.
Also in danish🤗
You need to watch the entirety of Wadde Hadde Dudde Da - A 20 second clip does not do it justice :)
I've been watching the ESC since I was 11 years old, since Dschingis Khan :-) I love the ESC. You have to watch Michael Schulte and Malik Harris in full.
Is it just me or 1981 "Johnny blue" by Lena Valaitis sounds A LOT like 1977 Marie Myriam "L'oiseau et l'enfant" (the last time France won eurovision ;) )?
I could be wrong, but I think the singer you're thinking about the reminded you of the 2018 entry, is Lukas Graham and the song was 7 years.
Hope we get to see some Albania some day from you ... Are a compilation video with some shorter country videos who joined the contest later
Nicole's 1982 winning song is called "a bit of peace" in English. Egg is all the more poignant when you consider Israel gave Germany maximum points for this, egg really was a magical moment, especially considering the connection between Israel and the aftermath of the war. The title "a bit of peace" was very fitting here indeed. Nicole's reaction to getting those twelve points from Israel was even more notable than her reaction to actually winning. It was lovely.
Year 2008: "No Angels" actually weren't a bunch of rich people's daughters, but they formed in 2000 as winners of the TV band casting show "Popstars".
Daniel please co host with graham norton for next euro. You two would be more fun than the whole show!!
Btw 1976 looks like a random group of people in the middle a city centre singing round a busker
R. I. P. Roger ❤
Mid 90s we started to troll Eurovision hard! But especially from 2000 on
Several Eurovision songs were written by American songwriters for German artists
It'd be awesome if you could check out a compilation of Denmark too xD. A few of those entries became global hits, that we play to this day, The Olsen brothers and Vi Maler Byen Rød as 2 examples. Other danish music legends that perform are the late Tommy Seebach, whose son became another and current music legend in Denmark and Bamses Venner, whose singer also passed away.
Other than that, the Brixx with Vide, video is still often played in the clubs where you'll get probably everyone singing to it. Hot eyes' Sku' du spørge fra nogen is also another classic that everyone remembers. Rollo and the king are also some old classics, who performed an English version of one of their Danish hits. the 2005 entry is also another danish hit that was translated. 2006 Twist of love is also a classic. After these, there are several songs that are quite well known, but they're maybe not as legendary as the ones I've already mentioned, but in 2011 the entry there, is a favorite of the place where I went to "efterskole" in Denmark, it'd always be on the song hours we'd have. Efterskole is sort of like a boarding school, except maybe not as strict. Many danish kids choose those schools over the last 1 or 2 years of regular schooling.
I watched the video titled "Denmark in Eurovision Song Contest (1957-2022)" in order to make the mentions I did here, so they're mostly in order, except for olsen brothers and Birthe kjær's "Vi maler byen rød".
With Tommy Seebach's entry "Under stjerne på himlen" is a song that he wrote for his daughter, and it's about how when he's putting her to sleep, he's telling her of the adventures she'll have with him when she's asleep. It'd be really awesome if you reacted to his son, Rasmus Seebach, singing a rendition of that same song, maybe with translated lyrics or similar, so you understood what the texts say.
we learn british english in school, so perhaps that's why they sound like they have a british acccent when singing in english to you
Guildo Horn is a national treasure.
i think italy is one of the best countries in eurovision so I'd love to see your reaction to that
As I'm sure others have said it was Johnny Logan that represents Ireland several times not Andrew Logan
The 2010 Eurovision flash mob when Norway hosted!
You should do a reaction of all of Sweden's songs in Eurovision! I'd like to see what you think!
Me a brown skinned german, born in Sao Paulo, who sreuggled for 20 plus years to finally feel german because of all the racism I encountered, I was totally offended when yall laughed at Katja Ebsteins "Wunder gibt es immer wieder". Thats one of the best german popular music "Lieder" ever. Peep the lyrics Back then Deutscher Schlager like this actually meant something amd would send messeges. 'Murican🙄😅😉 .. I love your video btw... awesome that you understand a little bit of the best language in Europe
Münchener Freiheit had some huge hits in the 80's I had no idea they participated in Eurovision 1993.
Last fun facts: Alex Swings, Oscar Sings (2009) had a no.1 hit in Germany with a song titled "You have the most beautiful ass in the world". 'Nuff said, right?
British English is pretty much the default taught in German schools.
Pity 2020 was canceled; I think the song was actually quite good ...
Thanks for a great ride, boys! This was fun!
👍 For Joy Fleming.
Please react to the full version of the song from 2018 Michael Schulte. It's soo great!
None were particulary bad of 1957, but the telephone one was charming enough and unique choice that I too wouldn't put it at the bottom. 4th though is wayy to high up.
Amusingly twenty years later Telegram used. Half expected a Fax down the road. ^^
Can you watch all Finland entries?
We have many underrated songs and also some weird ones. :)
the 2002 corinny May is underrated I think. for a blind woman with this song/text it was great not worth the last place
Can I suggest you go through Ireland's entries?
I'm pretty sure Ireland once entered a stuffed turkey to sing a lovely little ditty called "Irlande douze points" that got booed that strangely wasn't seen in the last placed video strangely enough.
Ireland have also entered Zig and Zag - also puppets who got their start on The Big Breakfast - UK Channel 4's breakfast show for the 1990s and Jedward.
Yes, really.
Jedward!
To put the ESC into perspective, it is very much influenced by countries general feelings towards each other and the politics of the time.
Also you don’t really want to win too often because then you have to host the next one and that thing is expensive like hell!
Hey, Lena is still great. Watch 'wild & free' by her from the soundtrack of the great german comedy movie 'Fack ju Göhte' and you can see another side of her music.
41:50 Was it James Bay?
please react to Norway in the eurovision song contest! So many great songs
No, 1991 is Tobias Funke with hair!
That German of yours, I really applaud you. Pretty good
More Eurovision, Great Reaction!
United Kingdom
Sweden
Netherlands
Spain
Switzerland
Norway
And France and Greece
2:13 why is the woman wearing a crystal bowl on her head?
Big 5 and host goes straight to final and others compete in two semifinals to get a spot in final. Big 5 are UK, Spain, France, Italy and Germany. From both semifinals 10 best goes to final so there is 26 country's in the final. Did you know at Celine Dion has won Eurovision in 1988?
I think your thinking of Xfactor uk winner = James Arthur who that Redhead sounds like Daniel.
Es war so cool und lustig👏👍. Greetings from 🇩🇪
CZcams that Nicole song as she does verses in English and French and other European languages. A very talented very young lady at the time.
1984 Mary Roos she got very bad news just before the show, but she made it.
Hi guys! As an eurovision fan, I will suggest u to view United Kingdom, France, Spain or Italy compilation, they are really interesting from my point of view :) Greetings from Spain!
0:25 Yes, it's a German word, but the third try was actually pretty good of a pronunciation
3:10 Yes, it's French. It was a French title, but he sang in German with a few words in French
16:11 It's an so called "Eszett" or "scharfes S" which makes the English sound for an s. Bißchen isn't spelled like this anymore but bisschen instead. It isn't used that often anymore, and German is the only language that uses "ß". However you pronounce it like bis-chen. Some American I heard said that "ch" is the sound cats make in English, but I'm not sure if this is true. "Sch" is also a sound in German, which sounds the same as "sh" in English
28:51 This is obviously just a joke, but "What do you have there" would be "Was hast du da". Wadde hadde dudde da is just a fun way to say it, so we don't actually say "Wadde hadde dudde da"
That guy Guildo Horn, the guy climbing the pole, reminds me so much of an ugly elderly version of Johnny Galecki (Leonard from Big Bang Theory) who broke lose. 🤣🤣
You commented that you hear britisch accent in German singers often.
That is because in school we learn englisch pronunciation by lessening comprehension and those educational clips always have a have britisch accent... With many it becomes a habit.
