    Sometimes quitting is a job difficult. We worry about the consequences for our career, the rebuttal from our manager or even just an awkward conversation. Lots of different thoughts can go through your mind: “what if they ask me to stay?”, “what if they offer me a position in a different department that I don’t want?“, “what if they guilt me into staying for another few months or promise me there will be changes, when I know in reality that nothing will change?“. And so on…
    In order to deal with these types of issues, I’ve come up with a few tips that have helped clients in the past - now, you can use them for yourself.

And would you like to explain that you're leaving to have more flexibility? Sometimes it's nice to give the reasons so that people don't feel they're being rejected. Hi Ronan, I hope you're still reading the comments section.
    What's the best excuse or reason to tell a good manager if I want to resign after 11 months and I still have some minor projects to deliver? I basically want to focus on my mental health, and I hate the job that I'm doing, but I don't want to let the manager know that I hate the job. He hired me over so many applicants, and I don't want to just quit and disappoint him, because I'm hoping that I could use him as my reference for the next job eventhough I think he's not really happy with my performance and maybe he thinks it's just satisfactory. I just want to quit and take a break for 3 months, then find another job, but do you think I could still ask him to be my reference? What is the best way or how is the best way to approach this? Thank you.

    • @ronankennedy
      @ronankennedy  Před rokem

      Hi Jack, thanks for your comment. If you knew he was actually happy with your performance, would it make you want to stay?
      I think the most important thing is to firstly figure out what you want to communicate and secondly how you want to say it.
      If you want to quit one way or another, you just need to find a script that makes you comfortable telling him. For example, "I've decided that for a combination of personal and professional reasons, it's best for me to move on. But I really appreciate you giving me the opportunity to work here. Thanks for everything you've done for me..."
      Yeah, you can still ask for a reference once you keep the relationship on the right track.

      I hope that went well for you! I wonder how u felt after that? I’m so fucking sick of my current job been there since may 2015. And I’m so hesitant and nervous to quit
