I walked into my job tonight..looked around I said to myself: " I don't want to be here anymore! "
Enough is enough..wish me luck.
Where are you going ? Do you have another job lined up
Don't do it!
Saner heads prevailed...I am looking but I am not quitting yet....
Keep it just incase, u never know if ur gonna lose everything you need something to fall back on unless ur really really good. I'm in that situation right now.
Good luck đ
I took Dave's advice and left my job that I hated two months ago. And I do NOT regret my decision at all. I'm much healthier now. Thanks Dave!
What did you do?
Me too! I quit last month and my days are now more enjoyable now. Im trying to try my luck with youtube now! Wish me luck!
Iâm an alcoholic from my job. I work in a coked up sales office and get yelled at everyday despite performing. I feel like death. I might just go be a trucker honestly

Dave Ramsey's insights have been a game-changer for me! His practical approach to financial management has empowered me to take control of my money and work towards a debt-free life. The Total Money Makeover is my go-to guide, and I appreciate how he breaks down complex concepts into easy-to-follow steps
Self care is MOST important. You ARE strong enough and intelligent enough to quit a job and get another (or start your own). Respect and love yourself, hear your cries from unhappiness, and show up for YOU!
Thank you, definitely needed this. I've put work ahead of my own health at times when I am rarely appreciated or recognized for all my efforts
Yessss! You have said it all!
Yes very true!!! I hope you find your inner happiness too!
Yes, my cries for unhapiness. Really puts me down

I was always overqualified for good paying jobs in California but was a perfect candidate for min wage jobs.
Just landed a federal job and this morning my car was paid off.

Thanks Dave! My husband has been loyal to his employer for the past 7 years. He has gotten to the point where he is miserable. I told him he would "just know" when it was time to leave. He decided to take a weeks vacation this week to look for a new job. He had an interview and was offered a job that same day making more money with better benefits!
how's it going today? and what did he switch from/to?

Well its a job after all, the cycle always repeat.
This is literally a fairy tale.
melissa swift thatâs great news. I wish him the best.
Wow. Iâve known for a few months that itâs time to quit my job... I get having a steady paycheck but the amount of stress, the dread about going to work every day, the lack of appreciation... itâs just too much. I donât need a job that brings depression, anxiety, and stress. Life is TOO short to be this miserable. Iâm quitting!
how did it go ?
Ssssssooe............ ?!
Any update Matt?
What are you doing now?

"When your spirit leaves, for God's sake, take your body with it". I literally LOL. Classic.
âQuit and go do something elseâ itâs easier said than done. In todayâs world most corporate jobs do not care about their workers. You break your back to make someone else rich, and Company A, B and C are all the same. I agree, at some point you do need to leave but leave to start your own business. Make yourself rich, not someone else.
When your spirit leaves, for God's sake, take your body with it. Real words of wisdom. Thanks Dave đ
Wow what awesome timing. I quit my job just a few hours ago. The supervisor was awful, and didn't care about any of her employees. I quit because I was always so stressed out and I said "I've had it." I'm on my way to do something else now in the workforce. God has a great plan for me and for all of us!
Amen
Good for you!

how are you doing now?
I think America is slowly starting to realize itâs ok to not want to work 80 hour weeks consistently and wear it as a badge of honor
I just quit today. No back up plan right now but I feel happy and FREE!
So true. Our biggest problem is fear, when we quit a job. One door close and another opens. You may be surprised, what the Universe have in store for you, once you are being honest to yourself. Cheerio.
christina leutscher Amen
Or you just donât know what business to start
The universe is an inanimate object. It doesn't know you from Adam
My father used to say that most people make decisions "governed by fear." That doesn't mean that you do something impulsively, but don't allow fear to make you stay stuck or not try something different.
christina leutscher, are you god? Is it really you?
Just left my job in printing for 10 years. I tried to do my two weeks. They didnât pay me 1500 I quit after my lunch.I watched this video it woke me up. Now a week later new career wants me to design a new training program.Integrity and your word are very important never forget that people!
I took this advice before Dave uploaded this video. In 2012, I worked in a toxic environment. The work I did I loved but the people were bad to work for... fast forward to today I work doing the same kind of work for people that I am proud to work for and pay almost triple what I used to make.
Iâve just left my job yesterday. I had only been there for less than a month, and I thought I could stick it out for at least a year. but as time went on I realised very quickly that my heart was not in it and i dreaded going to work in the mornings. The day before I quite I had Applied for a job that I had always wanted (but was less pay). After I had quite in the same hour of me leaving I received a call from my dream job saying that I could come in for an interview the same day! I found out today that I got the job and Iâm starting next week. I honestly believe that some things happen for a reason and as long as you follow your heart and are smart about the decisions you make, you will be okay
Agree with Dave on this...I had a pension, good pay, and great schedule but lost trust in my leadership. I quit my job and went to grad school.. BEST DECISION EVER!
What did you study at grad school?
@@rdawdon I had one year of my gi bill left. So I found a one year program so I wouldnât have to pay anything. I graduated with a Masterâs degree in Organizational Leadership.
@@KevinArnett2011 that's good man congrats to you. I'm thinking about quitting my job and go back to school aswell.
People stay in jobs because they feel trapped. It's hard to find another job. Thank God I like my job now, but I stayed in some rats nests because I didn't want to quit without looking for something better.
No one is motivated to look for a job whilst theyâre in one. But itâs the best thing you can do if youâre ready to move on. Obviously you wonât have the recent reference which could be important

Dave âQuit for your jobâ
One second later âwe need to get that income up, start delivering pizzasâ
What is it about delivering pizzas that tears at your integrity? Is it the weekend hours or the hard work? What is it about pizza parlours that is unscrupulous?
@@mairzydoats4879 personally I donât see the shame in delivering food especially if itâs to help payoff debt or just to add additional income. Itâs just not a glamorous job in the eyes of society
Not to reiterate the attitude of Ramsey's message in this post, a point well taken. Somehow many of us working at a job or seek one, have come to think we are either or must be bound (tethered) to a job for whatever reason, when in reality (as Dave have so eloquently said) we don't have to be. The real question is, what are the other real alternatives available, and are we in a position or willing to do what it takes to be in a position, to make those alternatives work for us, or are we going to cry foul about those things too, because there are many of them we don't like?
I delivered pizza for a little over a year. It was the best job that I ever had and I was often in a good mood, but people will look down on you for it.
@@shiptj01 Because people are jealous! They are miserabel with their "glorious" jobs, so you shall be miserabl too by being looked down on..
I placed my 2 weeks and I'm so happy! Having said that, lets not be tone deaf. Some people simply cannot quit their job. Some regions of this country don't have plentiful jobs around. And employers have 0% loyalty to employees in 2020.
Can't fully agree. Sometimes you get into careers with best intentions and the tide slowly changes. And not everyone has the luxury in life to drop that job or career and replace it immediately.
When the tide slowly changes against your integrity then there has to be a limit. We have been eating beans and rice every day for two years to have the luxury of leaving an unscrupulous company. Maybe you joined a company believing their lies about themselves but it's good to be free by God Almighty.
This world needs more people like you who values personal freedom and sees more things. When I did something similar to your advice, I was criticized as a "quitter"
Well when you have bills, kids and responsibilities its not so easy to just up and leave a steady paycheck.
He didnât say that you should quit cold turkey! Nor did he say it would be easy!
"When your spirit leaves...take your body with it." This is profound.
I needed this message this morning... I am so mistreated at my company...
Do they tell you to clean the washrooms?
Deep breaths, research something new, maximum effort......... Quit! 65 year old retired and spent 32 years with a national food company in sales. Was never bored. Was never mistreated. Was always appreciative and always grateful. Good luck sister!
âWhen your spirit leaves, take your body with itâ ! Ok! This one hit me hard! Thank you!
I worked for the same corporation for 35 years. I gave them 100% of my talent. They put food on my table. I loved my job, my coworkers, and my bosses. I came to them when I decided to walk away from a company, coworkers, bosses, and job I could no longer tolerate. Best career decision I ever made.
Dude I cried after hearing this confirmation. Let me go get caught up with my body & heart. Thanks Dave!
I drive an 18 wheeler. I hate it. the trucking industry is a terrible industry, the problem is my spirit left the industry 10 years ago, but I can't find work that pays. I actually have an IT degree but can't find work paying more than $10 an hour. So while I agree with Dave I also think it's not so easy to just quit.
I'm right there with you.
+Bill Fayne You could try doing tech-related freelancing on the side, to get something on your resume. Eventually freelancing could become your only job, or your experience could help you get into a tech company. Or, you could take a tech job that doesn't pay much, just to get your foot in the door, and do freelancing to help supplement your income until you move up in the industry.
Have you thought about doing things that make your degree useful? You gotta put your talent on display if you want opportunities. Find ways to use the information you have and make it valuable in the life of others. What made you interested In an IT degree? What does it mean to you? When you answer those questions it'll help you to help others.
In the tech industry, certs are the gold. Cert up on Security +, CCNA, CASP. Even having just one of those certifications require higher payment and a company wouldn't DARE offer you $10 for fear you'd laugh in their faces. I'd start with Security + and CCNA.
I want a follow up to this, because it appears he hasn't used his IT degree, and being out of the industry more than 5 years puts you way way behind.
My job let me go after 11yrs. And it was the best thing they do for me!! I got a Better job!!đđ

I never thought I would hear Dave tell us to quit our job. Iâm so use to videos of him telling us to get two jobs to pay off our debt. But he is so right life is too short to be miserable
I've never heard it that way before: "if you keep working for a company you don't like anymore, that says more about you than it does about the company".
This man has been one of the biggest inspirations in my life. Been following for a decade now. Feels amazing to be where I am when 10 years ago I was in what I thought was a hopeless amount of debt.
"When your spirit leaves, take your body with it." Great quote!!!
It's like staying in a bad relationship that's dragging you down!đ
I will quit my job soon because I'm not happy with the way my company treats its own clients, and I'm unhappy to cover someone that lies his own customers... So thanks Dave, this video is very cheerful and comes to me in the right time!
I so agree with this. There is no way one should stay in a horrible situation. I did for many months and prayed to God everyday I could leave. God only allowed me to take so much and I walked out. Thank you Dave!
I am planning to quit my job soon. I am a chef and the amount of time I spend inside the restaurant is just not worth it. I have to work extra hours plus I am always closing. I feel miserable because I can barely see my wife . I'd rather get a job that let's me see my wife more often. At the end of the day when we die, the money does not go with us. Wish u all the best. I have 2 weeks left at a J-O-B I have been at for 10 years! I am leaving to go to a different job where I can use 2 of my degrees simultaneously and there is room for advancement where I am coming from there was none. Hello Future!

This is one of my favorite DR videos! First, because Dave's driving, secondly, because he threw a personal story of his family and thirdly, because of the way he talks, his choice of words to illustrate the situation: honest, straight-forward and loving! I love this man!
100% correct. When you find yourself surrounded by enemies at work it's time to leave.
This just changed my entire work mentality
There is a difference between quitting and knowing when you've had enough.
Want a bad life? Get a job with coworkers you dislike and a supervisor you loathe. If you really like suffering, stay at that job for a prolonged period of time.
I agree 100%. Just be very careful to interpret this message. Heâs not saying âgo now and quit your jobâ without any plan. Heâs saying that if you are not spiritually, physically and mentally aligned with your job, and deep inside you donât fit its culture and their values causes you to not be loyal (even to yourself), then quit and do something different.
I would quit my J-O-B, but I need M-O-N-E-Y. Easier said than done when you have to make enough to meet your basic needs. Making some extra money is not a problem, it's making enough consistently to totally allow you to get rid of the job you currently don't like and still live the lifestyle you have to maintain.
Rob Jones I don't think Dave is saying that people should just leave their jobs in a seconds notice without having prepared for something else. I think preparation and transition was implied. People should of course be wise, but his point is that you need to find somewhere else to work if it is so bad. "Easier said than done" is an overused statement. Life in general is hard. I don't know your personal beliefs, but keeping in what Dave was saying, faith is required in even tough times. He's saying trust that God will place you somewhere that you'll be happy. God knows what you need, pray, believe and He will bless you with better. Many people just sit and accept what they have as if that's all can have. Dave is saying, God has better, it's up to you to seek it and accept it.
so stop creating more liability, because then you would not have that problem
create asset for yourself
giggles Again....you seem to thing everything is so easy. It takes a longer time than a couple weeks to even generate consistent income for yourself to the point where you can quit. I am working on trying to leave my job by having more assets, however it is not like I'm going to make $50,000 in two weeks.
it's not making enough. it's more like spending less.
Rob Jones Your exact needs are. Food water air. The rest are wants
Sometimes you have to stay in a place you hate until you can get into place that you like.
who said, like he said if you stay that tells alot about you, you dont have to stay, you were getting abuse would you stay or leave
giggles Unfortunately that mindset doesn't work in today's United States because everything is so highly priced and wages are low, so you can't just up and quit. Trust me. I learned that lesson.
this is really an appropirate way to quit the job!
Very Very true. You just can't quit. The most irresponsible thing to do is to just quit. As the Bible counsels us not to be rash in our ways
Not realistic Mr. Ramsey when you at a good paying job, have a family to feed.....not everyone is in your shoes sir!
I was in that boat working at a nursing home I was under pain under appreciated I was mentally drained financially drained and depressed it took my 4 1/2 years to finally say enough is enough and I moved on to northwell health which is huge healthcare company in ny and my life has changed dramatically Iâm paid good money work a lot of overtime and Iâm appreciated I feel extremely loyal to this company Iâve never felt this way working anywhere in my life Iâm so thankful I finally got the courage to leave that nursing home

@@Sabres16 yes!!!
macarari congratulations
I think you are confusing integrity with naivety. The vast majority of the time, your employers couldn't care less about you.
Good reason to search for a job with a caring employer.
My employer cares about me... I do 10x more work in a fraction of the time as my fellow workers. If the managers were cold like I hear from folks, I would quit the next day. The people who accept that your employer doesn't need to care about you are the ones that get taken advantage of
Really not at all the point he was making.
Robert Stanfield wow, 10 times the work in just a Fraction of the time . You must be some kind of super cyborg. Learn some basic math before making ludicrous statements. If you are exponentially better than everyone else, why are you working for anyone? Just go into the superhero business and clean up. It should only take a fraction of a second. Lol
Nick, I do not think I am better than everyone else. But I really do 10x the work in a fraction of the time. When you study to better yourself in a profession long enough, you figure out how to be efficient and that makes you valuable to an employer. Negotiations is a two way street. You cannot expect the world from an employer and offer nothing in return.
To answer your question, I plan to open a software company and build software for my county, but right now I just freelance on the side and build websites small business owners. My plan is to build capital to hire employees. I work more than 40 hours a week because I have the drive to do so, which many employees cannot even fulfill for their bosses.
I can never forget this was the video that changed my life forever.
I have an upcoming interview this Friday and Iâm so excited because I feel like my current job just isnât cutting it and this new job is offering me double the salary. Good vibes are welcomed from everyone!
I stayed longer than I should've because I felt financially trapped. Well I left a grocery store clerk job and now I'm a Millionaire. Don't get stuck in these places people, you can do better!
"Why do you keep working for someone that you think is a crook and mistreats people?"
Because I don't want a hole in my resume and I need money...
I think people exaggerate the effects of the "holes" in the resume. There are ways to hide that information and if your skills are good people will want you nonetheless. People stop working for many different reasons and nobody worth dime would judge you for leaving a place that is making you miserable.
I like Dave and his teachings but let's remember it's a lot easier for a multimillionaire to say "if you don't like your job, leave!" than it is for us to do it.
@@pedlpower The reason he's a multi millionaire is bc he quit his job. If you never have the balls to do it, you will only suffer for many years. But let's remember that it takes courage to jump off the cliff of life. Some will fall and some will soar. Life is not living in fear.

From what Dave has said himself, I don't think he quit his job. I think he lost bank funding for his business and went bankrupt. After that he found strength and financial truths in the Bible. I'm not disparaging Dave in any way. Just saying that I think you are incorrect.
That's the practical answer, the real answer is because you're weak. Man up, you can do it.
Thanks Dave I needed this. I've been too much of a punk to put in my 2 weeks. I hate dissapointing others my brain was making up excuses for me to stay. But at the end of the day the only person I was dissapointing is myself.
Iâll be resigning this Friday, my job for the most part was bearable due to good managers but certain elements of the job having changed have left me anxious and dreading going to work. Been there for over 11 years, and so itâs time for me to go.
Quit my corporate job this year, around 200k a year comp plan depending on bonus. Trust me, the money wasn't worth it. I absolutely hated the job, the corporate mindset and fakery, and all of the calls about meetings and meeting about calls. I now run a successful business with no drama and also make youtube vids, run a forum and just live life. When I quit my job people couldn't believe it, their biggest question was around how I would make money. Look, most people are in debt up to their eyeballs and can't walk away. Probably killed himself. .
I love being a locksmith for over 18 years. However not ever starting my own business has taken a toll on me and my growing family now. The small companies I work for. Never offered 401k match. I have nothing. The previous business owners I have worked for are all doing well. The one I work for now is doing well. What did I do wrong? No money saved in the bank. Nothing but living check to check. Not by choice but by faith of hoping I would get ahead and make the income I felt I have always deserved. I am awake now and will strive for my own business. It's time. It's never too late.
I love this video, I had worked my job for 17yrs Over time I began to hate my job , to make a long story short one day I just could not do it anymore called my supervisor told him I am Done! This is how I feel about the college I attend. "When the spirit leaves let your body leave with it." Feels like I'm going into debt for nothing. They don't teach a thing these days, they just hand out assignments and then wonder why kids are failing. Thinking of ditching this for a technical institution instead.
There is no reason to go to college unless you absolutely need a degree to get the job you want. (Big pharma doctor, lawyer, etc.)
What do you do when there are no honest companies left to work for? Loyalty is earned.
Thank you so much for this message. It spoke to me. I've been miserable for years but always stayed for one reason or another. It's time to move on!
Is March annual 'quit your job' month? I recently just left a job because the management was extremely hypocritical and would talk down to employees if any mistake was made while fabricating false statements of employee numbers to corporate! Found a job later that paid more, and had an extensively more positive more environment.
Always know your worth and strive for it.

I quit my hated insurance sales job that I dreaded coming into work for everyday in January. Started my own video production company as filmmaking is my passion. I still have no idea how I'm pulling through but God is a miracle worker and I rely on Him everyday for the new opportunities He has given me.
Yes Dave Yes! I did that this year and feel so liberated. Life has a way of working itself out, and I'm on that track right now.
Yes, when they donât have integrity, quit. I did and it took me a day and a half to recover from the evil place I was in. Yes my spirit did. Leave. I was glad I left and caught up with it.
I wish our economy was how it was when most of you baby boomers were looking for jobs. You could quit one great job and find another great job the same day with just a high school diploma.

True.
If you have no debt and a 6 month emergency fund, (or fund a new one for job hunting only), then you can quit any job. If you can't find a job in 6 months, then something is wrong with how you are looking. Something in wrong with your perception of a job. Baby boomers worked whatever job they could find most of the time, so it makes it look like they didn't do much work to get jobs, but that's because they put in the work early to get references and all that so finding another job is much easier.
strikevipermkII youâre naive, itâs not like that in 2018
Dave, we are grateful to you and I hope you know how powerful, true, and meaningful these videos are. I hope the world had more of you. You are changing the world sir, and you are a real leader.
Such wise people as you are very needed for the world today. So please, oh please keep yourself safe. Both hands on the wheel!!
I sooo need to quit my job. Iâm 38 and been there since out of high school, 18. Been loyal for 20 years. The last 7 years leadership has been horrific. The main cheese got fired a couple months ago for doing racist things and using government money for himself, so I heard. âLeadersâ only looking out for themselves. My passion for it is gone. I have to get on the ball and look for something else. A little tough being the main bread winner but itâs possible. Thanks for the tough talk Dave!
I hope you quit your job and doing well!
If possible quit "AFTER" you've lined up something better. Versus being completely without an income source, while frantically searching for a new job. Do what you got to do!
Moral of the story, work hard for your family, so they are happy, while for 30+ years youâre depressed.
"when your spirit leaves, take your body with it." wise words
Iïž know this video was put up a while ago but this resonates with right now. My job is horrible and Iâve put myself in an uncomfortable situation. Thanks Dave for the encouragement
Truth. The job transition does not have to be immediate. Because we live in an amazing country, I'd estimate in 2-3 months you can find another job that pays the same if not more. Bless you all. : )
That depends on whether you have adequate savings to "weather the storm". If not, that's not an option.
So true, every job I ever quit I found a new 1 that pays about the same or more within a month or so,be sure to save alittle so you will be ok during the job seeking process and it will all workout
You listed every reason why I left my previous job. I knew I did the right thing, but YOU sir have given me restful reassurance. THANK YOU!
I absolutely love you Mr. Ramsey! đđȘđ Thanks sooo much. You have NO IDEA how much I needed to hear that!
let me get this straight. You work for years of your life for a company that can fire you at the drop of a hat if they so choose to do so. The example just given is my point. I would lose it on my father or anyone who came in to my house grabbed anything out of my wife's hand and started throwing it around in my yard. Are you out of your mind?! That's what happens to hard working people who have become beholden to companies that they don't own or have a stock in but have put their life's blood into it! They are loyal subjects but will never be given what they truly deserve for their efforts. People will do insane things when it comes to money and what money affords them. Explaining your loyality to an organization is one thing; that type of behavior warrants mental health counseling. No employer is my master. I say this as a therapist, a veteran, and a father. Loyalty is earned. If you have the best product people will buy it. If you take care of what is important to employees they will stay. If you care more about your shareholders than anything else your employees and your customers will become opportunists.
You put it perfectly!!!
God speaks through people, you spoke to me in my time of need when fear is telling me to stay but heart says go .
Thank you and god bless đ
God doesn't speak through people he speaks through Angels.
Dave, you are a strong voice I have needed in my life. Thank you for doing what you do.
WOW!!! I know that this is an old video, but this truly served me today. "When your spirit leaves, let your body leave with it". So enlightening and I'm in tears! I'm definitely struggling.
