I was a creative director working on Fortune 500 brands and IP’s like Marvel / Star Wars for over 20 years. Eventually I walked away from the all the corporate industry bs to create my own clothing lines and fulfill my actual dreams as a creative. I don’t regret the time I spent working for those big brands cause I gained great experience but I should have taken the leap much earlier. It’s never too late. Great video! 👍

I believe in following dreams but with realistic expectations added in. Most people will fail badly at something in life. But if they never tried anything they would never have failed either, and would never have succeeded either. Wayne Gretzky said "you miss 100% of the shots you don't take".
The best things in life are free, stop accumulating things you don’t need, walk the dog, exercise, listen to music, help others, trust me you will be happier...

I lived this way in the 90s as a teenager with barely anything I was free and happy . Now as adult jobs I don’t like I do it to get a paycheck to get by and inside I feel empty

If I quit my day job, I'm not fearful of other's opinions, I'm fearful of becoming homeless while working on my dream of working from home. But when I'm at my day job, all I can think about is my dream and I'm one step away from just walking out and never looking back.
Assess your finances saving more than you thought you could. Make sure you have a tent and camp stove. Drive a mini van. You then can vacation cheaply learning home is in the house. Read' living more with less' ,look at work away website,consider being nanny,elder assistant. Time passes so fast,2020's happen. Jump
@@cherylcarlson3315 Yeah. Or at least get two decent small backpacking backpacks (every extra ounce is a back breaker). I lived out of a backpack for 6 months (after my car broke down), found weed trimming work, then continued to film my video project abroad. Definitely worth it.
Do it
I faced my financial fears. I paid off all of my debt in 1.5 years, right sized my home to what I needed (almost 2000 square feet and a large yard to 1200 and a smaller yard with lots of gardens!) and put what I made on the sale of my home into a retirement fund. I worked 2 jobs for 5 years to build a nice nest egg, pay off that debt, and I was not making a lot of money. You can downsize all parts of your life and still live like a King or Queen. I drive a 10 year old Jeep, that I love. I make all of my meals, I take long hikes, I volunteer at an animal shelter and I live very simple and frugally. I have never been more productive or happy! I am the weirdo among those in my 40's but I don't mind. Someone has to be.

@@johntao6822 Experience can be a valuable teacher, otherwise its like a 20 year old smacking head first into a wall and then a 60 year old saying, "oh yeah I didn't tell you about that." Sometimes no is exactly what we need to hear. Wisdom is the practical application of truth and simply casting aside an older, more experienced voice because it doesn't align with your perception makes you a fool, not someone who is fighting for their dream. Not everything you want is always going to lead to good. You can't always assume that no is a bad word. If one can't take "no" and figure out how to grow from it then they are not going to be able to grow in anything they do.
Started my own bussiness at 23 as a Designer/General Contractor, I'm 60 years old now and have always lived my dream,,when everyone told me i would fail,,,now I've started my other dream to buy and restore classic cars, and I will succeed again.

Thanks for the advice. I'm 52 and quit the manufacturing world after 29 years. I got so tired of the corporate puppets coming down and acting like tyrants I turned walk in and handed in my 30 day notice. I worked as a supervisor but it turned into a supervisor, manager, HR and Safety manager job and expected us to work 12 hour days seven days a week. I decided screw that paid everything off I own. I now make knives and jewelry as my hobby and help my kids out with their business. Best thing I could of done.

Quit my job on Friday. This my first Monday without having a job. Well, I'm self-employed now. I read a book name The Exit Plan: A guide to leaving your 9-to5 permanently, that really helped put my plans into action. Good luck to everyone looking or who's left their job!

Writing this 10 months after you posted: How long did it take you to pay your rent after leaving your job?
The Weekday well that’s what I go through in the book (not a plug, I promise🤣) but I had put a few things in place, savings and also, while I was working I had invested in properties that provided me an income. So my expenses including my mortgage is paid by my tenants. I also eliminated unnecessary spending. So really that provided me with the ultimate freedom to build my business with less stress. Don’t get me wrong, there will always be some level of stress but it was purely business building related and not with how I will pay my expenses. I make it clear in my book that’s it not just a jump into the deep end situation. I wish you all the best.

From somebody who's done this: There is a difference between fear of failure and fear of homelessness. When I got five mortgage payments behind, I was no longer focusing my creative energy on writing, I was losing sleep because I was about to lose my house. For a novelist anyway, I think the idea of quitting your day job is really bad advice. I have found it easier to be creative when I don't have to worry about where my next house payment is coming from. I've written six novels, one of them while unemployed and "chasing my dream." Lemme tell you - financial desperation does not improve your odds. I can still produce 10,000 words a week just fine as somebody who gets a paycheck. And my books still don't sell. That problem is not solved by adding the anxiety of having no income. .02 from somebody who tried it and lost.
I agree with you. Examples given of people chasing their dreams by quitting their job and going all is 1)An example given in a vacuum, not accounting setbacks, and the pain associated with poverty (Dunning kruger effect), and 2)Based on Survivorship Bias, where 1 amazing story of incredible success is defined as a common outcome, and 3)Based on an argument that the worse things get, the better they will become because you have nothing to lose (kind of like accelerationism). This idea is bullshit. Rather, artists should probably keep their day jobs and simultaneously try to build their careers in the arts/entertainment. It's actually possible, especially today with computers and the internet.
Well said, and a HIGHLY needed does of reality. I'm also a creative, and I can imagine that the stress of late bills would COMPLETELY shut my creative juices down.
Excellent point, it's totally bad advice. It's actually backwards. First, get financially stable as best as possible and then either cash out or just pursue the so called dream after hours. We all have 24 hours in a day, a lot can be accomplished if one is willing to get uncomfortable and sleep less to work more until either the job or the so called living the dream comes to fulfillment. I'm done struggling financially, I'll wait, save my money and then live my dream. If I drop dead so be it, at least I dropped dead trying to improve myself. Jesus is always in control, let Him.
I'm really glad you commented because I was kind of annoyed at this video. This is for people who are deciding to put any work to a dream career - in the dream phase, not when they have been trying to build it as they live and work in a conventional career in order to get and stay financially in a good position. This guy has networks, was already working in the industry when he jumped from his comments and financial stability (he lives in LA), he fails to touch on building all the things you need to have to make a career in the 'business' of movie making even as a writer which is what creatives need to know to make the change successful (Maybe its in the book but from the focus of the discussion I'm guessing not). And that is far more challenging than throwing over a good career and fighting your fear! If you are focused on fear you aren't focused on what you want and you won't make it one step because to my prior point, its a business with no one path, breaking in is like breaking into fort Knox and out of Alcatraz simultaneously. You wouldn't achieve either of these and certainly not both if you are still unsure if it for you.

What's worse is you when you think you know what your dream is, so you quit your day job to pursue that dream... Then it turns out you don't like it at all... That's kind of what happened with me. And I think I can speak for many of us, that turning a passion into a career, often kills that passion altogether.
That said, I'm happy I did it, as it would've haunted me forever if I never tried. In the end, it taught me an important lesson and humbled me a bit. Now, I personally don't think there's anything wrong with being a cog in the machine. After all, you can't have a machine without cogs, and a lot of people's dreams would be unattainable without creating those jobs for other people. That's another thing nobody ever talks about.

I watched this video a year ago and I quit my job to pursue building my own business. I left a very lucrative paying job in tech. Working for yourself is hard, working for someone else is hard but I now go to sleep at night feeling good about what I'm doing for myself. Don't quit your job if you don't have savings, don't quit your job if you don't have a plan. Don't quit your job if you do not have validated highly sought marketable skills. Do it when you have these three things figured out.
You live in fear! All you have to do is jump! Believe in yourself and trust the Universe! Do not ever invite fear for a cup of tea!!
My skills are the thing that I use in my unsatisfying job. Why would I quit my job to go into some other occupation that requires the same skillset, I would be better off not quitting

Edit: It's Sept 30, 2021 now. I worked on a bunch of shoots, was homeless a total of 2 1/2 years, got a job, filed bankruptcy, then got another, much better job at a film company, live in an apartment in Hollywood, and am writing a lot and taking Corey Mandell's workshops.

In 2013, I quit my job to fulfill my dream of moving to the Southwest. I had flown out, bought a house & enrolled my son in high school. I then flew back & drove my son & dog out here from the East Coast. I chose not to work for 7 months & then landed the perfect job. Still at the same job almost a decade later. Some of the questions I got are “you’re not scared?”, “you don’t have a job lined up?” of course it was scary, but it was also extremely liberating & everything worked out.

I lost my day job as soon as covid hit. Completely took me out of that "safe" illusion, good thing I saved a lot and am now pursuing my own work whilst doing some part time work to make sure I don't go broke. Otherwise the plan is to be fully independent of waiting for a salary

So, with my therapist help, I decided that next year -2021- I'm going to study archeology! That’s no trick unless your pursuing some sort of digital marketing career, or inventing something. I have a dream to pursue a career that involves delivering and hauling pallets for businesses. How am I supposed to do that when I work 7-4:30? I need to be available to my clients during the time I’m at work. Your trick won’t work for me.
My Great-Grandmother dropped out of high school at 14 to help on the farm in 1913. She graduated high school at 94 and walked across the stage with my sister and they both received their diplomas together. It was always a dream of hers to graduate, she was blind and did the course work with braille in her early 90's.
Quit my 9-5 aged 23 coz I wanted to change the world. Became a nurse. Now 49 and still have huge passion for a job that changes daily and can present any challenge throughout a shift. It's bloody hard work. My advice to my kids 'forget about how much money you will earn, choose a job that you can feel passion for'.
Becoming a nurse isn't exactly a high-risk career change.

I design and produce different electronic projects, for example remote bee hive monitoring, electric vehicle charging, parking space occupancy and such. I have a small production line for electronic assembly with stencil printer, pick&place machine and reflow line and bunch of other tools. I started working on NB-IoT, which will consume my winter months. I have a lot of spare time for other things and which is most important, very little stress. Wish you all the best.

Inaccurate, again. You may have one customer or many. They pay you - and then the boss gets paid. If "the boss" does not get customers, and sales volumes - he's not going to a boss much longer, and you'll be out of work, too. The "boss" hires you (an employee) to free up his time, so he / she can devote their attention to other aspects of the boss' business, or for you to perform in a department. Or because the boss either does not or can not work, 16 hours a day. I'm not a pro-business Conservative, btw.
You make it sound like it's "easy street" or some other b/s. Once your customer volume is huge, and sales are huge, that's a way different story. It's also somewhat rare.

Most companies these days are large corporations ,therefore the real bosses are the corporate bosses in which the site manager is a puppet.3/4 of corporate bosses are college trained and doesn't know much about the money making bare operations of a company. I had a successful sales job for years and I hated it. I finally started taking steps to get a contractor license to hang Xmas lights. Then expanded to handyman services. I set my hours, pay, and deal with customers I like 👍
I don’t make as much money, but I can watch this video and walk my dog without some corporate jerk asking for my sales numbers whilst breathing down my neck!
I feel paid by giving myself more life worth living. I make the decisions and am completely responsible for my failures and successes. It’s freeing to be more in control of your day. Good luck, take steps, work hard for yourself! If you are successful then give back to the community and help others. Hire workers and treat them better. It will pay you back in multitude ❤️

@@andeleon6838 I quit my job at the end of June and took a crosscountry roadtrip so that I could move in with my friend and made it in time to attend my other friend's bachelor party. I've been doing a bunch of errands, settling in, and catching up with friends and family I haven't seen since I left my home state 4 years ago (for work).
Next week things will have calmed down enough for me to get into a stricter schedule where I am focusing on film. I just finished editing some footage I recorded at my friend's bachelor party, so next week I'll start working on stitching together the footage from my roadtrip and put it up on my channel once I'm done. I bought a crappy camcorder and was documenting the trip rather than trying to make a narrative, so don't feel compelled to judge me too harshly on that product once it's on my channel. I am going to be very thorough with my first narrative short film.

I grew up without security. My dad has his own business but he's an incompetent hack - the type of person to spend 100s on throwing a BBQ to impress people he barely knows and then our electricity gets turned off the next day because we owe them more than $2000 because he kept begging them each month for an extension and citing overblown health concerns. My childhood was a wreck because of this. We've been homeless and sleeping in our car. We've had to beg people for money to buy food to eat. We've lived with relatives that are so shitty about us "burdening" them that I was so tempted just to run away and sleep in the park on the dirt. Now I'm living my dream every day. When I was in college I was having a conversation with a classmate that I had become friends with about dreams and he said that he had a dream but wanted to work in a company because he wanted the job security. It opened my eyes a bit. I had never worried about job security because I'd lived through the worst-case scenarios. I know I can survive through anything. Giving up your dreams because you're afraid of what will happen seems silly to me. But don't put your family through that shit. I sacrificed having a family to follow my dreams. I've never pursued anyone romantically and I have no intention of having kids. To me it's worth it though.

I actually listened to my intuition and followed my heart for my dreams and I've now been homeless. I think that a tenure professor like him with a partner saying this is different than someone who is actually already living in poverty to say this. If you don't have shelter, you cannot work on your art and your dreams. It's more about survival at this point.

I'm a doctor but I was made to work as a receptionist.. I totally lost confidence in me. It was really toxic. Today I took this step to resign for my mental health.. though I don't have another job in hand, I had to take this step. I hope I'll get a good job next 😇
How are you doing now? Any update? If I were in your shoes I will definitely open my own clinic, this is surprising as doctors are not going to lose jobs, unless you are barred or your license revoked. Where I'm at, I know some cab drivers, one of them a chemical engineer, and the other an architect, driving cabs, that's because they still need to take certifications to be proven as such, but they used to practice their qual on the country they originated from.

At age 60 my wife and I finally bought a piece of "raw" land after renting our entire lives. It is 750 miles away. I've been working on it for five years now. I'll work for 6 months saving money and then head to the property to work on it for 3-4 weeks (until the money runs out! Ha!) It was the scariest thing I've ever done. I came to to a point in my life where I said "This is it, now or never" . We just raised our Timber Frame from lumber I milled myself. Heading back in 3 weeks to put the roof on. If you live your life dreaming about the life you want and then work towards it, pretty soon you are living the life that you had only dreamed about.

To live the dream you have to have the balls to quit that salary job and the peer group pressure we all feel when working in the corporate world. I quit 6 years ago and wake up every morning and do what I feel like doing. It's the most liberating feeling you can imagine. I'm now 54 and enjoy so much time with my kids. Something that's not possible when working in the corporate world. I make more money now than I've ever made being an employee and I don't have to deal with those ass licking creeps who play the company politics to further their own benefits. Don't be fearful..just get out there and do what you want to do.,
So, what exactly do you do?
As hard as our "dayjobs" can be, they're far easier than living on the edge and possibly facing "failure" in pursuing our dreams. But failure is continuing down the easy path of a steady paycheck and letting your dreams die. I left a cushy job at a financial institution and took my dreams to NYC. I'm waiting tables now, after not working for 9 months, just acting and auditioning. Started a personal training business and have been doing pretty much what I want for the last 9 months.

The older you get, the harder it is to serve two masters. The pay becomes higher and harder to leave, and physical loss of energy is a reality. Doesn't mean it can't be done. Just be aware of some realities that it gets tougher, not easier as time goes on. I've lived through corporate jobs with good money and striking out on my own, only to find myself crying in the middle of my living room because I didn't know how I'd pay the rent. It's easy to take for granted the things we have when we fantasize about something better. There is a financial reality we have to account for. Get a plan. Live below your means. Figure out a way to do both as long as you need to...it doesn't have to be "either/or" it can be "either/and." At least for a period of time. Keep at it. What you want to do is get the horse running alongside the stagecoach before you take a leap. It may not be easy, but it's possible. Whar stood out the most for me was when he said that colleagues/friends usually get angry at you for leaving, thinking you are ungrateful, how dare you leave us here....I have experienced that feeling. You can truly see their fear and envy reflected back at your bold and valiant move
I walked away from my career after 7 years of college and 25 years on the job because of anxiety. I could no longer take the daily pressure. I tried everything to get over it and eventually walked away. It was very hard to give up something I was good at and enjoyed. I have started my own business now and doing fine financially but I do miss it. Just getting over your fear as he suggests isn’t always so easy.

Ever since I was a little kid, I was told how we need to get a job, work your life away, and eventually retire. I watched as my dad went off to teach kids every day and then return, a very honorable individual who contributed to society by taking on the task of trying to educate and mold students to learn. My dad was definitely a great man, but something I always wondered as I listened to my family and society is what was the point of it all? I see people wasting away, miserable at these things we're supposed to want, where they brag about having these overly expensive things. Then one day, I looked at my family, looked at their mindset and realized how I wanted none of it. I didn't want to waste my life doing a job, I didn't want or care about those nice things, I didn't give a damn about money, where the only reasons I pursued a paycheck was because it was a means to have a roof over my head and food. I came to the realization that work is worthless, it'll do nothing in the end and that we as a species need to focus more on our time, not wasting it working for someone else.

This is a great sentiment, but of course we are forced to work on end because we will need it when we grow old, we need money to pay for meds and hospital bills, and also of course food on the table and roof over our heads, but I agree with you, we don't need excess money in exchange of wasting our life away having a very stressful 9 to 5 jobs, because at the end of the day, what if you died, will you be able to take those material things with you?

At 71, I am a year away from opening my first Cafe...after losing my last small business of thirty years to our most recent recession/depression. I love this! My grandfather had 3 careers in his 92 years. I'm turning 40 this year and feel like I just started living. My daughters is 20, hates college and doesn't know what her passion is and is so worried about disappointing us if she drops out because she gets free tuition from me working there. I told her I just found out my passion so you have time. No worries! Only way she can disappoint me is by looking back at 40 and wishing she followed her passion and not her parents dream for her. And now I can quit my job (which is miserable). I started a podcast this year and plan on moving out of state for the first time and just have this free feeling and I love it.

My "problem" is I don't have dreams. I'm curious and have lots of interests and hobbies, but nothing makes me feel so passionate about it that I know I want to make that activity "my mission in life". What I know I want is at least time to dedicate to my interests, though at times I feel sort of missing out on purpose or at least passionate drive.

I'm 37 years old. I just made one of the biggest decisions of my life. I always wanted to become a full-time artist, and finally, I have resigned from my full-time employment to pursue my dreams. I am on my third day as a full-time artist and as much as I wanted this I was starting to doubt myself. Being on your own with your thoughts can drive you crazy. I was even questioning myself if I have reached a level of craziness. As much as I am trying to encourage myself, I was finding it hard to convenience myself. I was thinking that I might be naive or fooling myself. It's a constant weight on my head and chest. You can't just get rid of it. I happen to come across this video, and my god...I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your words are very to the point. I worked in factory and did real estate for 7 years, for her to get BSN. I could have got a BS for me at same time, but she would have to have lived in a 1500sf house on a city lot, while in school, instead of 3000sf house on an acre. I got knifed in the back, betrayed and divorce raped as my reward.
Most of these people had money, or had someone who had money. In the end, its about your CONNECTIONS, not just you.

Absolutely love this! This has hit home on so many levels. I will leaving my job soon after over 12 years in a decent government position, saying goodbye to the promise of healthcare and a decent pension. My soul was dying inside. Soon, I will move back in with my elderly dad to help care for him, be closer to family, taking business courses and start my own business and a non-profit. Im just 23 and earth is big. I’ll do what I like.
I quit my day job. Had $50,000 to start my business. By year three went broke. I lost my girl friend, friends, and family dismissed me because of failure, though I never asked for money or support. I had to give away my dog because I couldn't take proper care for it. I pressed into it anyways and became homeless living in my car. I pressed further and moved to Colorado for better summer weather and kept at it by utilizing public libraries. Still couldn't make a solid steady income. Nearly died in the winter. Breaking point was being homeless, catching the flu, no one around to help or care; so, after I got better I took the last of my money, moved home, on my own accord, and got my job back. And, that's where I am now. My family and friends came back into my life because I am back playing the same game of life that they are playing. However, the relationships only work because I have to put aside the knowledge that they only care for me when I meet their expectations. My mom says I got to learn a lot about myself, and had an adventure. This is her way of validating the coldness which she showed to me. My fiends have similar sentiments about leanring one's limits and such. I think it is all just words one says who hasn't faced limits and read false FB quotes too often. An abused wife, would probably rather never have been abused than get the opportunity to learn about her own limits and herself. The things I learned, I wish I hadn't. Businesses fail. Some never reach their potential. I am not the same person I was years ago. I am now one who knows the cold. One who knows that the cold knows not of me. Some choices lead to death. I often wonder if a physical death would have been more humane. Good luck out there. I wish that no one has the same experiences as I did. The stars are beautiful but they might not think that you are too.

Sob stories with no pay off; I suppose. I hope you are able to keep yourself going. I planned suicide thinking it was what the universe wanted of me. While setting up I decided if the universe wants me dead its gonna have to work harder than that to get me. I hope you make the universe work hard for it too.

I planned suicide also , wrote letters and picked a day but i didnt have the courage to go through with it , now i just about get by in my dead end job , over worked under paid and under appriciated . All that keeps me going is bitterness , i want to see everybody who judged me or didnt care go into the ground before me .

One of the saddest days of my life was my last day of my career, I don't think I've ever cried that much in my life in one day. But I kept telling myself that this was the right thing to do and the right time to do it (I was 54). The next day I woke up and thought "I never have to work again" and I went from crying to smiling right there. Yeah, I don't have the money I would have had if I'd kept working but I am so, so happy and very grateful/blessed which is a nice place to be.
Work should a be a calling not a comunity service.

After languishing and struggling existentially throughout my 30s, I'm finally buckling down to recommit myself to the two areas in which I feel most competent and confident: writing and being a personal trainer. For too long, I've held onto too many other "dreams" that really functioned as distractions from the main dream, which is to be a published novelist. I've started working in earnest to improve my mental health and self-love, to stop punishing myself, to let go of the pain, anger, and loss that I've lived through and that have become the defining features of my life, far more than hope or any single dream. I'm fighting to make my 40s the decade in which I live the dreams of my 20s. And if it costs me a decade, well, with any luck, I'll still have a few more left to enjoy it.
This is tough. I struggle from not having one dream/knowing what it is I have many but you have to pick one right. Is it too ambitious to a renaissance man famous for doing a ****load of random stuff?
Maybe after some soul searching I should pick one to start and go for it 😈

I pursued film and comedy and it’s kept me VERY happy. And it’s taken years for it to precipitate a payoff, but it was ENTIRELY worth it. Don’t be miserable. People will discourage you and that’s not ok.
Fear is wisdom in the face of danger. but its not necessarily a reason to stop. Courage is not the lack of fear, it's continuing even though you are affraid.

I did this years ago. It put me in the poorhouse. Now, I'm back to working with a whole new attitude and less stress. I do my dream job on the side. I need the money and benefits from my job.

I also wonder why people believe they can't do it again. This is also easy for me to say to others and harder to say to myself. Honestly you can only try and either be rejected or accepted. Life might change or stay the same. It's better to try and find out.
I'm all for pursuing a dream, but poor,hungry, and homeless is not for me.
Most underrated comment right here. In a world (our world) where wages vs the cost of living is getting worse and worse, "follow your dreams" is a nice sentiment, but needs to be tempered with increasing practicality.
It's not for everyone that's for sure, but a lot of successful people started out or became homeless and poor.
A lot of people stay at "safe" jobs and end up being poor anyway due to layoffs.
If you're gonna fail anyway, might as well fail doing what love.
You can always just start small on the side and grow it.
Having a job with enough salary is a blessing. Having the same grocery and living at the same home for 30 years is a blessing. Good home sitting with the people you love watching a movie in a quiet weekend is a blessing. We just don't care about blessed life anymore. We want more of everything. Fame, money, women, we want anything and everything although all receive a big zero at the end. God bless you.
I've been in law enforcement for 10 years. I now have a little one. I'm a 247 single mom. I have such a deep calling to get out and do something different. But I am afraid If I quit that security of being able to provide for my daughter will be ripped away from me . Will I be able to provide for her?!?! It's so scary you have another little person to provide for. I feel like I'm stuck in a transition .. I do have little projects going on.. but im afraid to take that leap! I am meant to do more!
Dude spits the truth here. Im a live musician, songwriter, and composer. Mannnnn if I would've quit at this when people told me to, Id be so miserable. I enjoy everyday because Im following thru on my dreams and my own personal goals. Great interview. More people need the mindset that this guy has. People would be a lot nicer to each other if we all focused on our dreams. Much love :)

I went through it too, I know the feel. The business went better than I could've ever hoped, but you will discover your true friends through the process. The funniest part is the dismissal and almost blatant ignoring. Hard to explain, but it's almost like people have to look in the mirror if they acknowledge what you're doing. Don't expect everyone to be happy for you. The great thing is you'll also discover people who are. Have unwavering belief in yourself even when the odds are stacked against you. You can do it.

My wife and I both working in good paying jobs in our 30s sold everything we owned, cleared our debts and went bush to live the lifestyle we wanted.
We found a life and wealth differently than the normal way things are done.
We both in our mid 60s , successful and glad we jumped ship 30+ years ago...
I was born a natural artist's. Never paid attention to my gift.....i got into concrete construction "union of course". 32 yrs later and with a pension I'm definitely ready to get out. A natural artist will make art from what ever he has in front of him\her. I have turned into a cement engraver and ready to put in another 32 yrs.
God willing.
I also born artist but i AM Blocked. Paralise. I AM a person that work in totally diferent Jobs but nothing fullfill me. I AM like zombie.
@@riseevolution ahh, so unfortunate. I'm a student and I'm doing something completely different to my passion for art. It's really draining. I don't really get the support from my family for what I blessed with. I've been in a state of depression for a year now. Society thinks academics is everything but once you don't have that zeal for something you wouldn't be as productive.
If each person on this planet followed their dreams/what they want to do with their lives (instead of conforming to the pressures and ideals of society/culture) the world will be a much more harmonious place.

its an older outdated era of people after the wars thinking. Its changing now thankfully, I believe.
The hardest thing in life for me was to reinvent myself. I defined myself for what I did and what I owned. Once all of it fell apart, well, my ego was shattered. There was nothing left but to start again. It was painful for me but it didn't have to be. I know that now and I wish I had faced my circumstances diferently back then.
