One minute I was listening to The Cars and learned that Ric Ocasek produced the “Never Say Never” EP...and here I am listening to another fantastic ‘80s group!
Love love love this talented group from the 80s, I still jam to them now, sexy singer, sexy sax, sexy riffs on guitars, with a legendary drummer with punk beats. What's not to love.
I’m so annoyed to hear that record executives passed them over because of the lead singers looks. That is so wrong her voice was so distinctive and cool. They were so awesome.
I think she's beautiful but that's irrelevant to her art. The music she was putting out was incredible and I'm just glad CZcams music auto recommended it to me
She was beautiful and powerful. When they came to San Francisco State I realized I was in radio management and all I had to do is invite them over to the station and see if they wanted to be interviewed on air and they did. It was really cool. They were great. Especially the sax player.
It had happened nearly the same with Heart around that period. But the difference was when Heart was signed in the 70's, Ann Wilson wasn't chubby like she was in the 80's. By the mid 80's, you could tell by the music videos, they were featuring Nancy more than Ann even though Ann was the lead singer. They even tried to put Nancy as lead vocalist, but the thing was Ann's voice was so powerful even the executives couldn't bury her. And that's around when Heart had hit their peaks.
Hearing this song for the first time. I've known of the band for years but never dived into their catalog. The line "Were we ten years younger, five years ago?" is hitting me very hard.
I love them and it's sad that music is based more off of looks than talent now. It may have been like that back then, but raw talent isn't enough today. I wish I could have see them live. They inspire me so much...coming from a big girl singer song writer herself❤🙏😎
On American Idol, Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson turned this African american girl down because she had pink hair and looked "ghetto". Music is based on looks first then talent.
You come to me with a photograph "How long ago?" is the question, you ask You've never known how to Watch what you say You ask for everything A fire in the streets The people we meet As far from now The dust and the heat Is there something missing, now in our eyes? Maybe it's just missing tonight Say it ain't so, Say it ain't so, Say it ain't so Were we ten years younger, five years ago? Say no, Say no, Say no Tell me one more time, one more, one less Say no, Say no, Say no When I'm like this I'm sick of this heat and I'm sick of the flack And I'm sick that nothing can ever be planned 'cause I miss my life like I miss your eyes I'm right by your side A fire in the night Burning so bright It happened so fast At the speed of light We looked, we leaped We weren't waitin' to see What wishes would last when light Would leave Say it ain't so, Say it ain't so, Say it ain't so Were we ten years younger, five years ago? Say no, Say no, Say no Tell me one more time, one more, one less Say no, Say no, Say no When I'm like this
Going back you discover a lot of great bands like this one face it from the late 50s to the 90s (especially 60s) there was too much great music to consume.......
Great song, great band, great video, but I'm confused. Howie Klein claimed on the TV show "Night Music" in 1984 that this was an edited version, that originally it was wilder with more animal images. I know I saw a version once where at :34 (and maybe earlier) Debora's lower face became animal. After all these years, why wouldn't Romeo Void be in possession of the original video and prefer that one to be shown? Anyway. Debora, thanks a lot for the 1988 KFJC interview with you, for autographing my bag in a SF club, it was cool to met you Benjamin with Howie, too!
The fact that the band couldn’t go on in the music industry because the singer didn’t give the “appropriate” image for a cool band makes me think if Adele would have been in the 80s maybe we never would’ve known about her 🤔😒
This is a shame they were cheated out of a longer career due to stupid music executives. Being a full figured singer male or female has nothing to do with a singer or a band's success. It did not stop Aretha Franklin
Did you ever see pictures of Aretha when she was young? She only gained weight like that in the late 80s/ early 90s. Google images is your friend before making comments...
This band had to struggle so hard when they were starting out that they even had to resort to rationing their food. During this time It was suspected that one of the band members was eating way more than their share but no one was ever caught in the act. I wonder if they ever figured it out which one it was.
the SAX is what's missing from music today !!!!
rockabillyrikk
One of few times I even like sax in music arrangement.
Loved this band still love them. Used to hear them in thé alternative clubs this band is so talented

@@philliplandry4139 sad
I don't care what anyone says, she is confident and sexy!
I graduated high school in 1986. SO GLAD I grew up with the likes of Romeo Void.
I did too. Miss the 80’s so much.
She had such an awesome voice for the 80s vibe.
romeo void videos are amazing
I've discovered this great band in the year 2020!
Same, thanks to Queens of the stone age
I saw them in a bar in Houston whatever year never say never came out. Maybe 1984.
You have a great ear for excellent music. They deserved to be bigger but all the cool peeps in the early 80s knew and loved them.
Hearing this song for the first time. I've known of the band for years but never dived into their catalog.
The line "Were we ten years younger, five years ago?" is hitting me very hard.
Deborah Iyall is a Queen 👑
So definitely agree with you
Yes but you misspelled Debora.
2:25 *BEST GUITAR AND SAX MIX MY EARS HAS EVER HEARD!!!!*

Great song. First time I've heard it. Romeo Void always rocks.
Debora has cool style. Her voice is different in a good way. I miss good music.
🌵🔊 "Instincts" (1984) is an excellent album. Used to have it on cassette way back when.
I always love this band.
a very very underrated song!
This band was a force...
Always well done... They really worked hard.Just a solid group. Thanks for great times.
You come to me with a photograph
"How long ago?" is the question, you ask
You've never known how to
Watch what you say
You ask for everything
A fire in the streets
The people we meet
As far from now
The dust and the heat
Is there something missing, now in our eyes?
Maybe it's just missing tonight
Say it ain't so, Say it ain't so, Say it ain't so
Were we ten years younger, five years ago?
Say no, Say no, Say no
Tell me one more time, one more, one less
Say no, Say no, Say no
When I'm like this
I'm sick of this heat and
I'm sick of the flack
And I'm sick that nothing can ever be planned
'cause I miss my life like I miss your eyes
I'm right by your side
A fire in the night
Burning so bright
It happened so fast
At the speed of light
We looked, we leaped
We weren't waitin' to see
What wishes would last when light
Would leave
Say it ain't so, Say it ain't so, Say it ain't so
Were we ten years younger, five years ago?
Say no, Say no, Say no
Tell me one more time, one more, one less
Say no, Say no, Say no
When I'm like this
Vienes a mi con una fotografía
"¿Cuánto tiempo hace?" es la pregunta, preguntas
Nunca has sabido cómo
Di no, di no, di no
Di no, di no, di no
Estoy a tu lado
Un fuego en la noche
Ardiendo tan brillante
Sucedió tan rápido
A la velocidad de la luz
Miramos, saltamos
No estábamos esperando para ver
Qué deseos durarían cuando la luz
Abandonaría
Di que no es así, Di que no es así, Di que no es así
¿Eramos diez años más jóvenes, hace cinco años?
Di no, di no, di no
Di no, di no, di no
Cuando soy así

True artists...
The ending is part of my early childhood unknown melodies
She and her voice are so attractive
Smoothest female voice of all time!…. Love it
XM first wave!!
Wow it took me until the year 2015 to finally see this 80's music video for this song.
yes!! :-)
What are you complaining about? It took me til 2020! And I was around to see the Beatles come to the states.
2021 here haha!

☆LONG LIVE THE 80'S☆
Bravoooooooooooo!!! Que gran conjunto!!! Me fascinan!! 🎶🎵🎷🎤🎶🎵🎤❤👏👏👏👏👏🎷🎷🎷🎸🎸🎸🎤♥️
Always a pleasure to listen to !!
The jackal$ in the record industry wouldn't back them because of her size. Never mind the band was excellent!
So many tracks I haven't heard... Mind Blow!
Not quite sure I get the video, but this song absolutely rips and tears!
Great song, great band, great video, but I'm confused. Howie Klein claimed on the TV show "Night Music" in 1984 that this was an edited version, that originally it was wilder with more animal images. I was so PROUD they were Canadian until I found out they weren't😆
Made sense in 2018 for an official 2010 hearbreak love of mine
This is beyond the words n'video....
Good music
Looove
The only bad thing about this song is that its so short.
why was this in my feed and why have i never seen or heard this?
I like them very much.very special.
yeee nice song nice band..
Record label shenanigans what killed this band.
2019... I got this !
art students cool I love it
So, then I can say no, but I should never say never??
I'm confused too
R.I.P. Benjamin Bossi
The sax gives it more of a distinctive sound then your run of the mill '80s band.
❣️❣️❣️❣️💯💯💯
A beautiful soul about to find her truenquest and calling : )
come back!!!!!!!!
classic Punk surrealism!! :-)
The sax player reminds me of the X Ray Specs. 💓
Totally
You mean X Ray Spex. Rest In Peace Benjamin Bossi.
She is so cool! And the guys are hot!
Was a passionate follower , no idea who I was followi g elieving I was in bib love with my Cal. Sailor
Say no to this charade
🥁🎻🎺👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤❤❤
video killed the radio star
Great band unfortunately underrated
at least its not a gota🐐
MTV CLASSIC should rebroadcast MTV 1981- 1992 BEFORE R kicked in with NON music related b.s . OH wait . I'm, working on that...................
Isso é genuinamente bom, porque é tao subestimado ?
Petition "Stranger Things," to add this to the next season!!!
The fact that the band couldn’t go on in the music industry because the singer didn’t give the “appropriate” image for a cool band makes me think if Adele would have been in the 80s maybe we never would’ve known about her 🤔😒
Excellent point.
the singer awesome to bad they pulled the plug
Clive Davis did this.
Nobody ever had to tell these boys to pull their pants up!
No.
Ah...the 80's where they tried anything for stage and camera tricks
With a voice like that I would’ve never thought she’d be a fucking chair breaker
Google images is your friend before making comments...
she is awesome but rec ex treated her like crap esp replacing her with head shots in girl in trouble
An early precursor to furries?
This band had to struggle so hard when they were starting out that they even had to resort to rationing their food. lol
I love this song but this video is terrible
