I'd like a breakdown of We Are the Flesh. It's a crazy Mexican horror movie.
When was it made?
@@chrispierce2239 2016, I think
OMG Yes! This movie mad me scratching my head for days afterwards. Very bizarre but great watch.
I was going to suggest that as well.
I saw this at a UK film festival called ‘fright fest’, years ago! It was great, everyone loved it in the screening. I thought it really pushed boundaries😂
Shoujo Tsubaki (1984) if ykyk
I could've sworn he had talked about it already! It seems right up his alley
@@nunonanemHe did talk about it. I guess youtube nuked it. :\
@@Lunar_SpellI deleted it because I made a lot of mistakes in the original video.
Oh....we know...lol
Already watched that
Come And See, it’s an anti war film where a young boy joins the Soviet resistance and faces countless horrors. Some of the scenes are absolutely brutal but the horror is/was based on very real things that would have happened during that time. Definitely worth a watch at least once.
From what I hear that is one of the most terrifying films ever created that was not a horror film.
Isn't this the movie based on ‘The Painted Bird’ novel by Jerzy Kosinski?
@@devilsrejecthbb1 Same.
I vote for "Come and See" too. I've heard it's super upsetting, so I'm not going to watch it. However, I'd watch a SpookyRice video about it to see if it's really as upsetting as they say. (It probably is given that it's based on reality, as opposed to aliens or something.)
This is really good spooky should definitely cover it.
A "Requiem for a Dream" breakdown would be nice.
just what i thought too, great bleak reality setting
Requiem for a Dream is hands-down the most depressing movie I've ever seen. Watching it once was enough for me. Definitely a good call though
id really like that
im still messed up over this one man
One of my faves. Great anti drug psa lol
*Moral of the story is if you have a nuke shelter DON'T invite anyone else in*
Not really gore but very disturbing Taxidermia, never watched it fully but traumatised me anyway.
Love your content a lot !
I watched Taxidermia waiting at the DMV on my phone. Freaked the people around me out LOL
YES!! I'd love to see Spooky Rice talk about this movie!
I feel like the strong point of Taxidermia is its grossness.
@@BloodylocksBathory I don't like it because I saw the end and it traumatised me but if you enjoy it it's fine too.
@@mrssherlockasy4236 Sorry I was so vague earlier lol. What I meant was the film is indeed disturbing, but far more on the disgusting end of the spectrum. I remember thinking it was pretty good, having seen it like 10 years ago, but... ughhhh. The sound effects.
The french horror film Inside might be one of the most messed up movie i've seen. It's the only movie with a scene that had me looking away and covering my ears. If you haven't seen it Spooky you should it's great 👍
Wich scene man? To me it was the one were the pregnant lady gets his belly hit by that blind cop, the movie is awesome tho.
Yeah, I recommend that film to my co-worker which is a horror veteran. That film was to much for him man a rough watch indeed,
Yes. That film has a couple scenes that are squirm worthy. That, Martyrs and Irreversible are three films that are great examples of French extreme horror. They do not eff around. 😂
director?
@@mkultra5122 the 2007 movie from Julien Amaury and Alexandre Bustillo
The poetry that IS Mickey's fate is great writing. It's hinted that he was in the service, and lost his family in 911. He was also a fire fighter(maybe during or post 911). He diss by fire taking care of Sam and looking at a photo of him and his wife. It's bittersweet but him smiling and accepting fate was awesome.
So this movie is partially responsible for what I have come to call the Weekend of Despair. I went to redbox (I'm old) and picked up The Divide, Melancholia and The Grey. I had no idea what they were about, and I watched them all back to back. I stayed in bed for two days and called out of work on Monday 😂
This movie doesn't get nearly enough love. It's, in a word, upsetting.
Oh no 😂
Moral of the story was to never let other survivors into your shelter 😂
👎👎👎👎Nah, the real moral is that the lucky ones die in the blast but I guess that fits too
Idk, the little girl didn’t deserve what happened to her and the Eva girl certainly didn’t either, along with Adrien.
Sam, Josh, Bobby and Marilyn all had it coming
Micky most definitely did not want them to come in lol. But ultimately he’s a good guy at heart so he did. It just sucks that some of them were terrible people.
@@DanniMonroe23 💯💯
i watched this years ago whilst working through ashton holmes' filmography and it freaked me tf out - i think it's what made me realize that i can handle most things in horror movies except SA. what happened to marilyn in particular was so depressing and bleak.
I'd like to see you cover Threads (1984). It's utterly soul destroying, bleak and terribly disturbing. Shows the days before and time after a nuclear attack on an English city.
That's the one I said! I just watched it the other day and I'm traumatized. I can't believe I used to complain about Irreversible, that one feels like a Disney movie now.
Omg yes
I love this. There are barely any internet analysis/breakdown of Threads. Would love to see that film get a second following
@@shosc16Ryan Hollinger did a great video on it.
I was gonna say the same thing! I've seen it twice and it really changes your mind on the current issues going on today
Broooo!! I love this movie. I watched it with my sister after we rented it from our library. After it was over we just sat there in silence for a few seconds.
As traumatizing as it was I liked how it showed how barbaric people get in an isolated environment with limited food. It’s so intense and in your face about the true horrors of man. No matter what tho watching it as a high schooler definitely made me realize the strength of a desperate person.
Climax by Gaspar Noé is pretty disturbing and also really amazing, I would LOVE a breakdown on it
Yes!! I have yet to see a breakdown of it. Can't watch the movie lol
Yes! It was intense! I loved it!
I don't know why people like that movie,Gasper Noe is one of my favorite directors, but Climax was really disappointing. The whole time I was thinking," why don't they call the police and tell them what is happening and to send help". I guess I shouldn't overthink it, If they had done that, there wouldn't have been a movie.
came to say this!
YES THIS ONE
Wait, what were your favorite parts? And what was the most messed up part?
The mother choosing for pain instead of a safe place was kinda disturbing.
the last third of the movie is the most messed up part
The two guys raping the mother repeatedly was the most disturbing part for me. And how she eventually dies from I'm guessing physical/emotional burnout.
This kinda scenerio always reminds me of prison. People know without a doubt that being alone for long periods of time is the worst kind of torture mentally and physically yet we do it to countless prisoners everyday.
Enter The Void is a really interesting Gaspar Noé film and well worth a review.
I'd love to see that get the Spooky treatment.
@@jeremymacnicol6023my favorite French film
We need a breakdown of The Brave Little Toaster. That shit is depressing asf
aymen. protect that god damn hot water bottle with all your life.
Requiem for a Dream was so disturbing to me. And I was going through addiction at the time I first saw it. It didn't fix me as there is no fix for it. But I have recovered over the past 3 years or so. But man that movie really got to me at my core.
The Spanish film The Skin I Live In (2011) really fits your channel in my opinion. Thanks for the hours and hours of entertainment you've given us!
Great great movie - messed up and great
That onw was crazy
Incident in a ghostland (2018) i see no one talk ab and has one of my fav horror movie twists
I watched a breakdown of this movie and it's a pretty good one. One of the few times I can honestly say watching an entire breakdown made me want to watch the movie still.
I always found The Prophecy existentially terrifying. A war in heaven has been raging since the beginning of time and no one can get into heaven. Viggo Mortensen's portrayal of Lucifer is particularly chilling.
Oooooh can you do “The Eyes of my mother”? I thought that was pretty disturbing! 🙌🏽
Agree, very disturbing and strange
More details to how its disturbing. Curious me
This was a definite disturbing movie and I liked it a lot.
“The voices” it has Ryan Reynolds
Good choice!!!
The entire Hellraiser series (yes, even the bad ones)
If despair is what you want, try making a video on Threads.
Only good scene in the whole movie is the last few minutes as one girl escapes and sees the nuclear devastation of the city
Yes! I remember watching this when it came out and was so grossed out. I’ve never heard anyone else talk about it.
Blindness has some disturbing scenes. Not gory but definitely makes you reevaluate humanity.
Watched once, never again! pleased you're looking into this one - very obscure...and grim!
I know right?!?
The clear obviousness of their situation made me dislike every character besides Micheal Biehn veteran (janitor?) character.
@@yeejay6396 I was pleasantly surprised to see Micheal Biehn here. I love seeing him wherever he pops up.
I know it's not really a Disturbing Film, but Wishmaster has always freaked me out since I saw it. Also maybe a film for bootyrice but Monkey Bone has scared my psyche and I can't look at breathing tubes the same way.
Don't forget, at the times, that movie was extremely horrifying. Thank you for mentioning this. 😊
A number of deaths in the first two films disturbed me as a kid
Oooooh, thank you, Spooky for mentioning this masterpiece!...
This movie never left me... After seeing this one, I needed a break from movies
Everything about this movie was just utterly shocking and about despair and hopelessness...
Also let me mention the intro and outro music from Jean-Pierre Taïeb...
Heartbreaking... 😢❤
So true I still remember the tune after so may years of watching it
It’s not that much of a disturbing movie but Tomie: Unlimited would be an interesting review.
I really like this movie, it has some disturbing moments but it’s a good movie.
What about Midsommar? Its a well known one, but its also pretty disturbing :)
it’s not nearly as disturbing as the movies he covers though
@mays7571 well sometimes the movies he covers aren't as disturbing as the movies he covers. I think the only criteria is "disturbing"
The Nightingale is such a good movie! Please do a review of it Spookyrice! Love your channel
Nightingale is a gem.
Pontypool (2008) - seriously, this movie will terrify you and it feels very John Carpenter-esque.
mulholland drive. i don't know if its valid but im actually depressed and trauamtized after watching it. 10/10 favorite movie of all time along with dancer in the dark
One of my favorite movies. Great selection!
You should really do the afflicted if you haven’t seen it it’s one of the most disturbing movies I ever watched when I was younger
I would like a breakdown of Silence of the lambs or Battle royale, both of them so disturbing yet thrilling at the same time
I'd love to see a breakdown of Barbarian (2022) or Pearl (2022)
I'd love to see you do a breakdown for William Lustig's Maniac (1980).
There's also a 2012 remake of Maniac with Elija Wood that's supposed to be as disturbing as the original but with a little more depth. I couldn't even watch a review of it because I got squigged out.
The road has got to be one of the most soul crushing films I’ve ever watched
This is a film I recently saw. It’s excellent, and very effed up. It’s called HER NAME WAS TORMENT.
its interesting that you said that "we lose ourselves when everything is gone" and what i think is that when everything is gone that is when the real humanity comes out. its either unfiltered just honest brutal humanity or unfathomable kindness and selflessness. anyway nice video.
Soooo true.
SpookyRice I love your videos. Not for some disturbing reason they are helping me get through a really tough break up. So thank you for what you do!
Would love to see you break down The Woman!
Just watched this and was not expecting that ending at all
I haven’t actually seen this one but I hear “Mysterious Skin” is verrrrry disturbing
Yeah! I heard it was good and been thinking of watching it
@@basil4634 Me too! Some of the other suggestions are movies he’s done before that got taken down so I’m hoping he picks mine. Fingers crossed
Its very VERY sad.
Carcinoma (2014) is pretty weird. Or taxidermia (2006)
Wouldn't mind you doing a video on "One Hour Photo" with Robin Williams
Funan (2018). It's on Netflix. But it will be removed on either the 15th or 30th of July. It's Dark and Depressing. But also kind of Disturbing
Oh damn, one of my first disturbing films that probably influenced my love for the "everything fking sucks" type of apocalypse.
Would you pretty please consider doing threads? Its filmed like a documentry with clinical and cold computer projections of casualties and shortages playing over a blighted, decaying corpse of Britain.
Baskin! 2015 Turkish horror movie. Beyond fucked up and we need that Spooky Rice breakdown 😂
Wolf Creek classic Australian horror
That movie was to much for me 😮
This would make for a pretty cool origin story for a survivor in a post apocalyptic setting. They’d have to address the radiation poisoning of course.
Your videos keep getting better man. Really great work. Watching your stuff evolve and grow over the past few years has been awesome.
Establishing Horror Geek comment shoooot!!
Hell Yeeah 😏.
Would be amazing if you guys did a collaboration:)
"I hate you all." .... the same sentiments I had. So brutal.
The little girl was likable tho. Eva was pretty sympathetic along with the Adrian dude and the Mickey character was cool but everyone else…
planet terror (2007)
Bobby was originally going to be played by Sean William Scott, of American Pie fame, but he backed out due to scheduling reasons. Personally, I got this from Redbox and never returned it. It's one of my favorite, like bring up and show a friend, movies. Crazy the director never came close to doing a film this well imo. I really enjoy the movie and even during the slow burn moments I was invested.
For Colored Girls (2010)! I still can't forgive Michael Ealy to this day. He played that role too damn well!
Hey Spooky! I know this movie is well known, but can you maybe cover Terrifier?
Man, it’s been a minute since I thought about this movie. I remember seeing the trailer and being really excited for it. One of the trailers had an interesting song in it that to this I still never found.
Been watching your videos for years thanks for everything n hope all is well for you ❤️💯
Gone Girl is the most disturbed I've ever been in a movie theatre
You should do Climax next
I remember watching this movie and the actor playing Josh belting "What's down there!?" in the least convincing way possible.
To this day, it's still a joke between my husband and me 😂
Shchindlers list, a classic but really disturbing
"Shutter" (2004) from Thailand. I think it is a pretty good one!
I think you have already did a video on Raw. My second choice is Cat Sick Blues. The Horror Geek has a great video on it but I'm interested in how you would review it. ✌️
I literally was thinking terrifier 2 when you said it 😂
If you like psychological studies, this film is awesome. While most movies of the end of the world do dabble in mental breakdowns, they never go this far or make it so raw. They usually make it comedic like Mad Max style. Seeing a realistic and desperate struggle in a underrated film is amazing.
EXACTLY
This is one of my favorite movies of all time, problably the first time I've seen it mentioned online. It's ending stuck with me for years.
It gets a lot of flack but Thirteen Ghosts (2001) was one of the first movies where I watched it and just could not stop thinking about it. It also has live action Shaggy/William Afton (Matthew Lillard) in it.
It started like Fallout, but turned into Outlast.
Exactly
Requiem For A Dream, Spring Breakers, Less Than Zero, remake of Last House On The Left, American Mary, American Beauty, Fight Club, Green Inferno
Not necessarily disturbing in the usual sense (but certainly a traumatic experience for anybody with anxiety) but I would LOVE to hear your take on Beau is Afraid!
Beau is Afraid is a phenomenal anxiety-inducing movie with all of my greatest fears wrapped into one! A fever dream 😂
A crazy extreme Chilean movie 🇨🇱 Visceral: Between the Ropes of Madness
Mandy! Let's get Nicolas cage in here!
Never heard of this channel before. Just clicked on it because the thumbnail was my girl Chloe from Lucifer.
Love this movie 🍿🎥❤ thanks! Can't wait to hear you break this down!
There's a movie from 1998 called Strangeland that I think needs a little more attention.
Actually, Requiem for a Dream would be perfect. Only watched once years ago but can't get myself to watch again but I'll watch the breakdown
Do Aniara next. Sci fi, pretty fucking bleak.
I just recommend Aniara too.
Bruh i missed this channel! Keep up the good work
Michael Biehn? Milo Ventimiglia? Rosanna Arquette? Courtney B. Vance? Now that’s a stacked cast!
💯💯💯. Definitely. The cast was brilliant
I’d love to see a breakdown on 8mm which is a very disturbing yet good movie
One of Nicolas Cages best film and one of the most underrated films of 1999
@@chasehedges6775 exactly!
I've been waiting for you to cover this movie since I first subscribed! I remember watching The Divide years ago with my mates because it was on late one random night and we all came out traumatised 😂 "It's in the hair" has stuck with me ever since.
I just saw the BBC movie Threads the other day and I'm still processing it. Im low key traumatized. I'd love to see a breakdown of that one.
Super Size Me (2004)….gave me nightmares 🤷🏽♂️
Can you do a video on The Knowing featuring Nick Cage
Yes, and make him
mention a wilhelm scream
kinda a weird one but where the dead go to die has to be one of the weirdest most disturbing fever dream I've ever watched lol it would be entertaining to see you attempt to break that one down love your vids!!!
Mysterious Skin!!! It is disturbing and terribly sad.
This is a damn good psychological horror movie, tem nfs me a lot of Hitchcock's Lifeboat, side note, the actor who plays Josh is in That's My Boy, and he's hilarious in it
Do The Anime Named “Flowers of Evil” or Aku No Hana”
The soundtrack definately made this movie. Made you feel the dispair and hopelessness of the whole situation.
Especially the music playing at the end
The music at the end will haunt me forever
Thank you for this one I watched this film years ago and I couldn't remember the name, time to re-watch. "I just can't put my finger on it" had me laughing so hard 😂❤
Oh my god, please for the love of god do Terrifier 2
Mum & Dad 2008
You should do a video on The Loved Ones, trust me.
The Wizard of Gore (1970) from the godfather of horror himself
Bone Tomahawk!
