    I totally didn't expect that but I found this video the most inspiring thing I've seen in a long time. Not only because of the awesome tool but thanks to your amazing skills. It's sooo pleasurable to watch/hear a pro like you going through such a variety of styles using just sampled orchestra. It reminds me in how amazing times we live in and that we literally have so realistically sounding orchestra under our fingers. I need to try this Divisimate by myself!

    Thinking of writing a .mid to repeater preset converter, unless someone already has. The arp-style semitone sliders are a bit tedious, but the preset picker traverses folders, so we could dump all our Scaler or Strummed Guitar patterns and whatnot in there and batch convert.

    • @bmatt2626
      @bmatt2626 Před 9 měsíci

      Won't work. Mistook the velocity sliders for semitones... :/ Maybe a sequencer that receives input note and chord+program changes on separate channels could sit in between. The next hunt begins...

    Well done! In curious, once you have this level of flexibility, do you use it for everything? Do you still go back to templates that have key switches and whatnot? Love divisimate, and this is perhaps my favorite video I’ve seen using it

    • @vincecomposer
      @vincecomposer  Před 7 měsíci

      Hiya! Glad you enjoyed the video. To be clear, right now I pretty much only use divisimate for improvisation and having fun. But I do generally use samples without key switching for as much as possible. The reason i would bring in a traditional sample with key switches is always because I prefer the tone of thar sample for a particular musical context. It’s very content dependent! I don’t normally use templates due to the kind of projects I work on

    Lovely/tasteful spontaneous comp skills! Is the cello SWAM? Does divisimate add latency and thus the need to use audio modeling to achieve a low latency. Would cinimatic studio strings become even more unbearable to compose with in realtime? Thx for the great video i really dig your channel!

    • @vincecomposer
      @vincecomposer  Před měsícem

      Hey there! Glad you enjoyed the video. Have a look on the description for the full list of instruments. I’m using a layered css sketching patch (non legato strings plus a shorts latch for the attach ) here. Using Css legatos as part of the setup is totally doable I just like the flexibility of having polyphonic patches for real time improvisation.

    • @vincecomposer
      @vincecomposer  Před rokem

      Thanks! Nothing particularly fancy with the setup - the main trick is all of the software instruments I've chosen for my setup are capable of playing a variety of articulations without any keyswitching. Apart from that it's just a question of setting them up as per the divisimate manual and balancing them to taste. Let me know if you have any specific questions!

      @@vincecomposer Iam interested in setting up reverb .. I loved them.
      And second the strings .. how did you layered with swam solo. And what is the modifier doing on all tracks

    • @vincecomposer
      @vincecomposer  Před rokem

      @@akshaygurav9855 Ah ok - I've added some details about the reverb settings to the video description. Regarding the modifiers, I just tend to use those to determine how the instruments respond to the vibrato CC input (which I control with bite). So for instance clarinet, I used the modifier to turn it off completely and on some other instruments I have the value scaled so it's more subtle and blends better in an ensemble context. With the string layering I just put the two (e.g. cello) instruments in a track stack, balanced the volumes and then assign the track stack to the Divisimate appropriate channel. Hope that makes sense?

  • @bensmirmusic
    @bensmirmusic Před rokem

    So basically the cc1 and cc11 are controlled by your controller (faders, breath controller and whatnot) for ALL the instruments at the same time right?

    • @vincecomposer
      @vincecomposer  Před rokem

      Yes that's correct. You can customise how the CC values impact each instrument using modifiers in Logic (for example with piano I make sure that CC11 won't affect the dynamics and just use velocity). But in general with this setup it's not possible to do a quiet sustained trumpet simultaneously with a loud sustained flute for example, without tailoring the template on a case by case basis. FYI i just send one CC stream (CC11) to control the dynamics of everything (and map it in the instruments accordingly)

    How are you able to get the piano sustain to work without triggering it to sustain horns solo?

    • @vincecomposer
      @vincecomposer  Před rokem +2

      Hiya! I removed the midi mapping for sustain pedal on the horn instruments (Infinite assigns it to legato bypass by default). Alternatively you can use a Modifier or Scripter plugin to block or redirect the incoming the sustain pedal CC signal.

    I split my midi keyboard to play different midi channels, then selectively arm the tracks I want to audition. Is that not the same thing that this is accomplishing? Not knocking it... Genuinely asking about the contrasting benefits.

    • @vincecomposer
      @vincecomposer  Před 8 měsíci

      Cool, I might have to try that! Do you do that using the keyboards own firmware? Yes, it’s achieves the same thing but only partially - this program also can split the individual notes of a chord to separate channels, which can be handy eg if you want to play chords end up with 1 track per trombone part for example

    • @warrenwilcock8183
      @warrenwilcock8183 Před 8 měsíci

      @@vincecomposer I see, thanks! It definitely seems like it takes some manual effort away from what I'm currently doing, plus selectively arming tracks can get messy in my large templates.. And yes, I'm using the Arturia Keylab 88mkii which allows me to split the keyboard (via their control software) into separate midi channels. In Cubase, I assign higher melodic instruments to Channel 1 and lower instruments to channel 2 and selectively arm those tracks.
