    Wow, how to emulate some of the soundtrack styles from screen or video games makes a whole lot more sense, thanks!
    You know what, enjoy your coffee sir!

    Thanks for the video. Even though I got a degree in composition and jazz writing almost 50 years ago at the University of North Texas and spend years writing jingles and library music I learned a few bits. Plus there is so much I learned 50 years ago that I haven’t thought of in years. I enjoy your videos. Ted

    Wonderful, I didn't think you could get so many interesting ideas and sounds just by moving one form around. It turned out to be not complicated and very fascinating. Thank you for sharing your experience.

      Exactly! Luckily you don't need lots of techniques or concepts to open up a very broad range of sounds. Glad you enjoyed it!

    Hey mate amazing stuff here and very useful.
    Are you using divisimate ? Also may i ask the string library you are using? It sounded great.

    • @vincecomposer
      @vincecomposer  Před 7 měsíci

      hiya! i believe it's a stack of Cinematic Studio Strings Staccato with the full ensemble sustains patch from Symphobia 2 and setup like this czcams.com/video/nXkLkefJ6Wo/video.html
      I think for this one I didn't use Divisimate but just had some polyphonic patches setup in advance.

    This video is very helpful and instructive. I've encountered some of the ideas before as starting points for jazz piano improvisation (triad pairs etc) but it's fascinating how they can be applied in a classical orchestral context in new and surprising ways. The little bit of "jazzy/hollywood" stuff at around 1.20 sounded great - what was going on there? Seemed to be kind of swooping down on to diatonic chords form a half step below?

    • @vincecomposer
      @vincecomposer  Před rokem

      Hiya! Glad you found it useful 🙌 the jazzy hollywood thing was based around major6 and major 7th inversions with (as you spotted) some chromatic preparations or 'sidestepping'. Also theres a G7#9 chord in there which sounds particularly idiomatic. In part 2 (which I'm currently editing) I'll include an exercise using major6 chords and diminished passing chords which is also a great intro to the soundworld.

    0:46 Nice twinkly little melody there. Personally, I think he was overrated, assuming he didn't pinch it in the first place :). 10:17 That would work well in a horror movie. Thank goodness for the public domain.... PS - Yep, inverting is such a useful technique.

      he drinks from a beercan just behind his chair.
      edit: no stop. he's standing. what a champ. I do the same. standing while music/working/doing stuff.

      Heya! It’s a tec control breath and bite controller- I use it control the volume in real time (cc11) so I can do crescendos on sustained chords.
