    The more I watch this channel, the more impressed I am with the translation. This guy does a hell of a job of translating the down to earth language into English. The important thing is that it's not word for word, but rather the whole sentence. I speak/understand both languages and I can tell that this is as real-life, down to earth translation as it gets. People may watch this and think it's just the content, but subconsciously the language does a hell of a lot to bring out the humanity in this and establish bridges between the two countries/cultures, possibly conceived to be more divided/different because of stereotypes (or simply lack of information).

Then the side that has just the brake rotor will get all of the power and it will spin double the normal speed. this is so cool because I remember watching NASCAR and F1 when I was younger and sometimes they had a camera on the car pointed at the wheels and when they would brake you could see the rotor go red hot then cool down as they took off. It gave me such a respect and understanding of the mechanical strain on those cars and how much work goes into making them capable of handling those forces without shredding itself. Seeing this just reminds me of that and re-solidifies that understanding.

    The reason why these rotors did not fracture into pieces is because it was a solid rotor. On another channel, Beyond The Press, they did the same experiment, but with vented rotors, and when those overheat, they fail spectacularly.

    • @sergeybabkin9614
      @sergeybabkin9614 Před 6 lety +2

      The rotors fracture from the repeated heat cycles. Maybe they just don't put enough heat into them during the ice races to start the cracks, or maybe there is not enough heat dissipated on the rear brakes anyway.

      hill billy drilled and slotted rotors are extremely dangerous and should be DOT banned because they have a high failure rate with zero warning. They also heat up faster because they have less mass. Only idiot boiracers who know nothing about cars use them.

    • @GeorgeJFW
      @GeorgeJFW Před 6 lety +15

      Generic Name Generic Name I see your point,and I think in most applications they actually reduce braking force because there is less surface area for the pads to act on. But there used all the time by manufacturers in high performance applications so I am pretty sure there safe, when manufactured correctly. I don’t know if they would heat up faster or not?. You make a good point about less mass heating up quicker, but they should also cool down faster. The purpose of the slots and holes are actually to prevent a condition called gas fade. Where the liner of the pad can off gas at extremely high temperatures, causing a barrier layer of gas to form between the pad and rotor.the slots give the gas a place to go. Anyway you make some interesting arguments and I would love to see them actually get put to the test!

      Name Surname, I was braking all the way down the hill, by the time I got to the bottom the brakes were fried, luckily I could swerve onto a verge to avoid a land rover coming up the hill, scary does not describe it! Old brake fluid soaks up moisture, and this turns to steam when hot, and that can be compressed, so technically it wasn't the brake fluid that boiled. You are supposed to change brake fluid every few years, and I hadn't.

      @TheMetalButcher Před 6 lety +22

      Dear lord. People like you that don't know how to downshift are scary. You shouldn't be using your brakes going down a hill, except for a corner or to slow down. Brakes are not for holding speed, they are for slowing and stopping. You were lucky. A local man in a dump truck was not so lucky. Please, do some research and downshift next time!

      The engine has more power than the brakes when running at peak torque (which varries by engine model). That's why you can do a burnout with a car.

    • @hussamkhalil96
      @hussamkhalil96 Před 5 lety

      That is true when you have all four wheels braking the car, friction between the tires and the road that is acting force against the movement of the car and with all the moment of inertia that basically means the car is resisting movement naturally due to it's dimensions and weight.
      In this experiment the car is stationary and the only force acting against the spinning of the rotors is the rear brakes which is usually less powerful than the front.
      My guess if it was a front wheel drive it might be a tad harder to carry out this experiment.

      Normally yes, because to draw out a burnout , people tend to hit the brakes....the solution to this is to get "line locks", it's a device that will disable the rear brakes to prevent damage to the pads and rotors during a burnout, while still allowing the front brakes to hold the car
