@@tonysun3707 i actually installed a wall mount for my c1, which is capable of extending outward from the wall approximately 16 inches. this allows me to keep the TV at a comfortable viewing distance, while also taking up zero room on my desk. this is what i would recommend for anyone with the option. i even built simple brackets that attach to the wall mount so i could attach the left, right and center speakers of my surround sound system directly to it, avoiding the need of having to reposition speakers any time i retract or extend the TV from the wall.

Great video. Absolutely agree, the device displaying your image is the most important part of the equation but alot of people fail to take that into the equation. I went OLED for movie and console gaming in 2016 and soon as I saw the 48" CX hit the market it was a must for PC gaming. Now I'm tempted to get the 34" Alienware 1440p 144hz QD-OLED that's just hit the market since it's actually a proper monitor. You should consider doing a review and see how it compares w the LG side by side

I also have the LG OLED, and you can also run a feature from the tv menu where it resets the pixels (I don’t remember the actual name but it is under the video menu). You can have it run automatically or you can run it yourself, best when you are turning it off so it does everything before it turns off. Think of it like defragging spinning hard drives. The 42" and 48" cost the same due to 42" being more expensive to manufacture due to it's pixel pitch and how the panels are created. However street prices may be slightly lower eventually. If you can stomach it I would go with the 48". Also anything below 55" will be slightly less bright due to the aforementioned pixel pitch. Not that you would notice without a side to side comparison.

I got one partly because of Daniel's advice. He was spot on! This thing is awesome and the best PC upgrade since SSD's. I feel like it took my gaming setup to the next level. I am running a 6700XT which I would say is the minimum to play AAA games @4K. 3060ti/3070 would work but 8GB VRAM isn't great) and 6800/3080+ would be ideal. FSR/DLSS helps a ton too. Playing a game like Witcher 3 with texture mods is like playing it for the first time! Forza Horizon 5 is mind blowing. The 42" might be better but I'm not regretting jumping on this thing when the price dropped to $1100 late 2021 before Christmas. I have a bedroom set as a dedicated computer room and a big desk so space wasn't an issue for me, but it might be for some. Ideally you would mount this thing.

I definitely agree, the C1 is also the biggest gaming upgrade I’ve ever had (Mine is the 65” C1) … Recently upgraded my main gaming console from Switch to XSX as well, which was pretty substantive - but not quite as much of an impression maker as the OLED.
That said, I think the Switch looks better on my old 4k 50” Samsung LCD - the higher pixel density doesn’t reveal as much of the flaws. Games just look blurry and soft. Which is hard to go back to after spending last few weeks on Series X. I bet it looks great on the 42” or 48” C2 - especially with a nice HDMI upscaler.

No work, no productivity, just flying, driving and space sims. I have watched more videos then I care to admit and it has been a hard decision. I puchased IPS dell with HDR 600 nits, and was completely blown away with what HDR brings to gaming. I was not satisfied with local dimming and blacks, though I thought I could live with that. But I realized I don't care much about burn in, considering the quality OLED brings. Now I'm choosing between LG and samsung for TV as a monitor.
I've been playing since 1996, and I can say OLED brings those sensations I had when switching from sega megadrive to PS1, and from SD to HD. It's that impressive

That is very glowing praise. And I have come to trust your attention to detail in such things :)
I have been torn between the 2022 Neo G7, and the Asus PG42UQ (an asus rog-swift adaptation of the 42" LG C2 panel).
I honestly think the Neo G7 is better in many regards (color accuracy, text clarity, and no burn in). But that 1000R curve is TOO curved. It actually validates the complaints of the naysayers of curved screens, because it's too rigid in terms of head placement & distance, and it's curve is _not_ uniform (more like 500R in the middle to 3000R at the edges). Too much curve forces you to reduce FOV in game settings or suffer fish-eye headaches. And a non-uniform curve actually does make it bad for productivity.
I am still concerned about getting burn-in from desktop and/or playing over 1000 hours in a game and ending up with a permanent ghost of the UI on the panel. I have a laptop with a 4k oled... no burn in there. But honestly I don't use it for extended periods of time.
You're kinda leaning me towards the Asus over the LG.

  • @ChrisHarmon1

I have been running a 4K tv as monitor since 2014 at least. The early Vizio M series 43" was a great monitor with full 444 chroma and no sub pixel bs like new tvs. Extreme gaming wasnt in the cards for it as the input latency was still 18ms and display full transition around 8ms but I gamed on it exclusively which it worked well for 90% of gamers IMO. Now about to move on and Im split between the R646 and C1. I like OLED on phone and tablets but the TV brightness leaves some to be desired. The TCL is half the price and brighter, good contrast with mini led backlight and panel colors are about the same so you loose some black contrast but gain a lot of brightness which helps with HDR. The burn in is also a non issue with cheaper model.

Some things i do as you, is a black background/hide the task bar, remove icons, place a screen savior up for 1 min cause sometimes i walk away or get distracted. also in games i adjust the UI like in horzion zero dawn. Turning off what i can and enabling dynamic UI elements so when im running around the world the static UI elements are not there. I do this for every game that allows it.

I was also aware there are more pros than cons. I did not wait for the C2 because there is no way it will be $1097 like I paid, and I highly doubt the price difference would justify the upgrade in brightness. I will agree with you that if you have a bright room or have lights on behind your seat, you will probably hate it. It is VERY reflective so keep that in mind. The 42" will be great, but after having the 48", I would not downgrade even if it was free to do so. You get used to the size very quickly.

    HI, ok i understood this:
the only way today to have everything "active" (4k, 120hz, HDR, VRR G-sync / etc ..) without problems is to connect usb c (DP 1.4) or DP1.4 or later
on DP monitor input. Or connect an HDMI 2.1 output to the card / pc (only the new rtx 3000 cards support it now).
So the rtx2000 series may already have problems with 120hz 4k and HDR. The 3000 series on laptops (like mine: rog zephyrus s17 with rtx 3080) must necessarily be connected with USB c (display port) otherwise the laptop uses the iGPU (Intel) instead of the dGPU (3080). So I have to put a USB c to hdmi 2.1 adapter to use a lg C2 tv. NO ADAPTER TODAY supports VRR / Gsync. So you will have no problem 4k 120hz and hdr with the best adapters and an 8k hdmi cable BUT NOT THE VRR / GSYNC. I know I have to give up on this. The only way to directly and cleanly connect the rtx graphics to the tv (via hdmi 2.1) is to change laptop or PC with native output on 2.1 graphics (or from DP to DP only with some monitors, but no hdmi 2.1 tv) .
Or wait for an adapter cable to come out (if it does come out) that does not lose any information.
