      magnetic USB breakaway cables are cool and all, but you can and will undermine the integrity of the cable's EMI spec - much more so with USB 3 standards and above.

    I've got the 11 Pro right in front of me.
    Microsoft literally fixed all the issue the Surface lineup had till today.
    The Snapdragon is extremely fast while being super efficient. No more ludicrous standby drain, a battery life better than basically any laptop out there and finally an Windows on ARM OS which is running everything fine, including emulated x86 apps.
    Not only that, but major companies like Adobe or Blackmagic natively now also offer their productivity-suite for ARM on Windows. Completely crazy, this wasn't even thought to be possible some years ago.

    • @rowaystarco
      @rowaystarco Před 2 dny

      Yeah, I love it. But I'm somewhat disappointed that Microsoft left us with a cloud only version of the Xbox app. Even steam will let you install a bunch of X86 games. If Microsoft is serious about ARM, they should have Xbox compile some of their lighter first party games to run on ARM as well.

    • @safetinspector2
      @safetinspector2 Před 2 dny

      I've been curious about the x86 emulation. What is the real-world feel of those emulated apps? Anything that isn't working as you'd expect?

    • @kruemelfelix
      @kruemelfelix Před 2 dny

      @@rowaystarco Yeah that's true. Although this likely will change over time.
      Currently they can't emulate AVX2 due to license stuff. And the licensing for AVX2 runs out this year or early next year afaik. The Games published on Microsoft Store highly likely need AVX2, so theres no way to run them anyways.

    • @kruemelfelix
      @kruemelfelix Před 2 dny

      @@safetinspector2 There are some very rare circumstances which definitely won't work with the emulation layer right now.
      One is custom network adapters. For example VPN services typically offer their own client, they won't work as x86 apps as the emulation layer can't translate an x86 network adapter. However you can just use the native wireguard client instead.
      The second thing is AVX2 emulation. That simply isn't possible right now. Any app which requires that won't run. This is a pretty niche thing as I'm not aware of any program which require AVX2 instructions except modern video games. All the others just fall back to AVX.
      Everything else is literally working out of the box, you don't notice the emulation at all. In the end emulating x86 with the current Windows build is as fast on the X Elite as running the apps natively on the last Intel Ultra 7 chip. Although it uses a bit more power emulated.
      However more impressive is the current availability of native ARM apps. It's ludicrous, basically all major productivity tools you use are available on ARM. Have a look at "armrepo" on Github pages to see a list.
