There was a “Fish Plays Pokemon” years ago with a betta fish right after the hype of Twitch Plays Pokemon. The betta was eventually put in a barely decorated, filtered and heated (uncycled) 2.5gal tank (accepted minimum at the time) after many complaints from fish keepers. The poor fish still had lights on it 24/7 and eventually the owners stopped streaming it.
This man educates me and calms my anxiety with his smooth voice.

I am extremely new to this hobby. I ended up scoring a 2g tank for free and decided to pratice planting the tank and keeping a snail.
The first one died (rip Edward "Gay Snail" No Hands) and got a second one (Edward 2: Electric Boogaloo). Ed 2 disappeared from the tank? I figured on of my cats must have gotten her while I had the lid open to experiment with light.
Now a week later, got myself a ten gallon that I just finished setting up, and I notice some weird looking bugs in the tank. Think nothing of it, probably from the duckweed I just added. Come back a hour later and Ed 2 us just chilling in the tank no idea where she came from. What I'm guessing what happened is that Ed was hiding in the shell i use for hardscape and the little "bugs" I found were actually baby snails.
Honestly I'm just glad I didn't fuck up this snail so bad that it died again

Hello! I'm a beginner fish keeper, I chose 1 male betta as my first fish and I did tons of research-- when I say that, I did A LOT. Small prometheus is living happily in a 5 gallon currently but I'm going to upgrade him to a 10 gallon and maybe add a few nerite snails. Live plants, driftwood, rock, etc. He seems to be doing extraordinary in his 5 gallon, his fins are beautiful and very vibrant- no sign of disease or infection of any kind. Im also getting a "quarantine tank" for the snails just in case and some new rich substrate. Hopefully all goes well, I've just gotten into fish and from all of the hours researching it seems like I'm ready to get a second one. Wish me luck! If you have any tips then please comment below and tell me :) and thank you for your videos, they really are giving me even more information and I can now identify what is considered a great tank vs a horrible one.
(Update) Prometheus is now in a 10 gallon and I saw a purple betta which I've never seen before and I couldn't help myself.. I brought him home and he is flourishing In the 5 gallon with brackish water, driftwood, etc. His fins have filled in over night and he looks beautiful. Naming him Hyacinth. :) the live plants are doing fantastic in the 10 gallon and he seems to be extremely active checking out every nook and cranny the tank offers. He loves the driftwood and brackish water, im currently training him on jumping for food. I chose Java ferns for the live plants. Getting more soon :)
That sounds awesome! Welcome to an addictive hobby. It's awesome when someone joins the hobby the right way. I love that your Betta is clearly having a wonderful home and excellent care.

Lets make a version of the gaming betta where the setup is in the middle of a 20 gallon tank with that wall in the center a nice path to it between the aqua scape and it is random if the fish moves across it or not

The fish with the turtles are climbing perch they grow big I have 2 of them
they're a native species where i live by the way i live in kerala, India , they're quite hardy fish and they're invasive and they
threaten a lot of native species in a lot of places because they're spines get stuck in the throats of a lot of animals that eat them. they can breath air for a long period of time ive found them on the sides of roads while I'm walking during the moonson season.

The turtle one broke my heart, the feeling when you've been wanting a certain pet since forever but you can't get it because right now you don't have the possibility to take care for it properly so you have to wait like 5 more years but then you see some Karen who just throws them in a small box with a little bit of water and some fish. I'm literally about to cry.

The first betta fish died after 800h of playing pokemon. Later they replaced it with two other betta fish and do 12hour shift . I do think they are trying to keep the fish healthy but i still feel bad about the betta

I love your FTRs, I have a confession to make. 2 weeks ago I bought a betta who I named Pixel, a heater and silk plants, and a 5 gallon tank and 5 gallons of the "ready to use" water from the pet store. I got everything set up and like a moron put my betta in the tank. Shortly after I learned about cycling the tank, which I hadn't done.. I got some other things that was necessary, water test kit, gravel vacuum, neutral regulator for ph, and prime conditioner. I tested the water every day and besides the PH everything else seemed perfect, too perfect because of the cycling there wasn't any of that bacteria and no plants. A week passed and the betta, while a little shy (or sick by the conditions I have put it in) seemed to do ok, he would come out and chill in the front of the tank and looked like he was swimming fine. Then hurricane Sally hit, I had to leave to go to my buddys house because my house isn't the best to bunker up in and unfortunately I couldn't take him with. The power went out for 2 days and I come back and he had passed away. I suppose there's a couple of things that could've contributed to his death but I do feel really bad about setting him up early, and will take this as a lesson. I'm hoping to set up and cycle a 10 gallon tank soon and will keep you updated on that.
TL;DR Please cycle your tanks, even for bettas.
I'm sorry to hear that!!! It's great you learned the proper way to setup a tank tho. Good luck on your next fish! Join a local fish group... Everywhere seems to have one (even if not in person with covid happening) it's a good way to get a start on cycling a tank by getting media from someone else.

The fish at 4:30 looks almost like a species of climbing perch or 'ikan puyu/koruk' in my native language (common fish in Asia). The only difference is that where I live, the climbing perch don't have those kind of markings.

Thanks for the rhizome tip...i have a mystery plant (was told it was water wysteria but I'm not so sure) and it was doing well floating but once it got huge I tried to plant it and its been slowly dying. I'm going to have to do more research.
You should join FFT discord so you can share a photo with everyone. I know someone could ID it for sure.
A simple, general, rule of thumb is bulbs partial/mostly out, let their roots grow down into substrate. If they're too deep they rot.
Stems, anything that is a stem with a regular root you would see on regular plants, plant completely in substrate.
Rhizomes, those are thick roots that grow sideways, crookedways, down ways... Lol, they are thick and kinda remind me of a carrot, they are thick and have little tiny roots that grow off them. You can attach to driftwood, glue/tie to rocks, heck even float them, just don't plant them.

Ok, i know natural colors are best, but a large part of me wants to get a few dark colored guppies and make an enchanted ruins themed 20 gallon with blue, red, and purple tones to it, and a nice black substrate.
