  • We got invited by Denver Auto to come and have a look at the BYD Seal at their spanking new showroom. They only had the Premium model on display but that's ok because looks wise, the Premium model is only missing the 3.8s badge.
Spec wise, both come with the advanced Blade battery pack, but since the Performance model has a motor each at the front and at the back, it can shoot to from 0 to 100 kmh in 3.8 seconds. Just for comparison, the Aston-Martin Vantage Roadster 4.0 V8 Turbo (2020) has the same 0-100kmh time. The Premium model does it in 5.9 seconds, which isn't slow. The Performance model also comes with electronic child lock. Other than that, they're the same.
So you can't go wrong with either model.
Some dealers are offering free home chargers to early birds so please check with your dealer on this and other packages available.
Thank you BYD Denver Auto for the invite.

Thanks to the Blade battery tech, of course. Many people don't know that BYD was and still is a battery manufacturer, hence the advantage they have here.

I like the space the of the model 3 but I like the design of the Seal better. I think the driver screen, HUD and physical buttons are features I have to consider. I think I need to test drive this before I decide. I've already driven the model 3 and it was pretty good but having to look to the main screen to view your speed takes a bit of getting use to.

3.8s to 100 is no joke. But the Premium is good enough for me and much better for my wallet.

@@LynaVasyVoyage i have been driving Camry Hybrid for the past 7+ years and it is time for change. I started looking for a car since early Oct 2023 with a budget of around RM 200K. Current model of Camry is not in my consideration due to lack of Hybrid powertrain even though Toyota gave massive discount of 15K during year end 2023. Honda gave even bigger discount for Accord but it is the model to be phased out in Malaysia market, so Accord also not my choice. Nissan Teana no longer on sales and i do not feel comfortable with other Japanese maker including Mazda. Forget continental cars as i had bad experience in the past.
Unless if i opt for re-conditioned/used car, there are really not that many choices with the budget given. The remaining options are Honda CRV Hybrid and BYD Seal. By early Nov 2023, the final price of Honda CRV Hybrid was still yet to be revealed though SA had informed me about the estimated price which i think is reasonable and BYD Seal launching is still undecided and estimated to be at around RM 200K for Premium variant. i decided to place a booking for Honda CRV Hybrid on 15 Nov 2023. When CRV Hybrid finally launch, I visited and test drove and it was acceptable with minor disappointments (hard plastic rear seat door panel and lack of BSM) but i am ok with it. On the day BYD Seal pricing is announce, i was pleasantly surprised that it is RM 20K cheaper than earlier estimate and i immediately made arrangement for test drive. After the test drive, i cancelled my Honda CRV Hybrid (haven't got the car yet) and go for BYD Seal instead. Yes, that RM 20K lesser made the difference although previously i already know that BYD Seal's exterior, interior, ride comfort and build quality seems to be better after months of surfing the internet for BYD Seal review. I did not consider Tesla Model 3 as in my opinion, it is too simple and the feeling and perceived quality is no match for BYD Seal. I have a feeling that if you change the BYD batch to Merc or BMW, it can easily sell at least 2X the price of BYD Seal and yes, i am taking about E class and 5 series level if not higher.

@@LynaVasyVoyage, exterior, interior, ride comfort and build quality better than many cars that is more expensive. Tesla Model 3 doesn't come close. If you change the BYD badge to Merc or BMW, there will be people who are willing to pay at least 2 times the price. Yes I am talking about E class or 5 series level if not higher.

what do you mean design not original? you should show some respect to their chief designer Wolfgang Egger who was design head of Alfa Romeo, Audi, Lamborghini

    • @LynaVasyVoyage
      @LynaVasyVoyage  Před 2 měsíci

Thanks for your feedback. You've done your homework.
Our opinion was not to put down the designer as we did mention we prefer this design over the Tesla Model 3.
In fact our opinion is shared by other content creators on other channels.
      It's just something people noticed.
At the launch, potential buyers could be heard saying, "This part reminds me of X car" or "That part looks like the one from Y car" Is it a bad thing?
Judging from the sales - certainly not!
We still remember the BMW X6 and X4; following it was the Mercedes GLE Coupe and GLC Coupe, which took inspiration from the BMW. That said, after the CLS was launched, a few models from other marques took inspiration from that design. We may even see other cars models take inspiration from BYD designs in the future.
BYD brought in this acclaimed designer to give their cars a continental look and feel, and he succeeded. Design cues were inspired by other makes and injected with identity unique to BYD. It takes skill to blend many influences into one complete design package and the Seal is testament to this designer's creativity. Hats off to him.
In this market segment, the design has to be 'safer' and appeal to a wider audience, which is why the final design in often the toned down version of the concept.
If you're going to design a proper supercar, like the fantastic looking BYD Yangwang U9, you have more possibilities in terms of design.
What do you think is the best feature of the Seal?

Yeah, we know what you mean. We remember when we first bought flagship smartphones. The first couple of weeks were so exiting playing with all the bells and whistles. After the excitement waned, we just used the basic functions. This was before all the shopping, banking and eWallet apps came along. We also remember when cars first offered AT. People used to say it was for those who don't know how to drive that they needed an AT to change gears for them. Now it's a must have. Can't wait to see how they build on this.
Thanks for your comment, btw. We love to hear your views and opinions. It does not matter if you agree with ours or not. It's always enlightening to see another side of things.
Out of curiosity, which features do you think the Seal could do without?
