The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is a head turner. While the looks of the Ioniq 5 was just too much for some, the Ioniq 6 is a much easier car to like, thanks to its Porsche-like looks.
It shares many features with the Ioniq 6 with a few upgrades, notably the USB-C ports, faster wireless charging, one-touch rear window controls, rear seat fold levers at the boot and more range.
For the most part It's not in direct competition with the BYD Seal, price wise. However, is the asking price worth it.
The Seal is a very good deal for its asking price, even for it's performance model. And one might say the same for the Model 3.
The Ioniq 6 and its sibling the Ioniq 5 isn't the quickest to 100kmh or has the longest range but having been in both, I have to say that if you have some extra cash in your pockets, the Ioniq 6 (for Lyna, for me it's the Ioniq 5) could be the way to go.
There are a few EVs now that can do the century sprint in 3.8s. That's AMG A45s and Panamera territory except that you get the rush immediately with EVs. However, that novelty quickly dies once reality sets in and you succumb to the daily grind of being stuck in traffic jams at least 5 days a week, twice a day. That is when you appreciate being in a Ioniq 6 (or and Ioniq 5). If you have 4 passengers with you, you'll probably be the only one awake as the generous legroom would be too much temptation not to stretch some legs and catch 40 winks.
The Ioniq 6 isn't perfect, of course. More soft touch materials would be welcome especially along the door panels and storage areas. Handphone and tablet holders would not be out of place on the rear center armrest. Last but not least, a soft rear seat folding feature would be a classy touch for a car of this price range.
