I’m from the UK, and I used to love getting into computers when I was a teenager to 20s, but kinda got stuck outside with other jobs. Now I’m near mid 30s I decided to take an IT technician course so I’m trying to properly understand things and some of it feels scary at times 😂 but I’m glad I found this video. Helps me be a bit more calmer to what I should expect on my first days when I get into this properly. Thanks
Yeah no problem. You got this!!
Hie there I have no qualifications, what can study
@@MbonisiM The google IT professional certification is a good start!
Kevtech & you are doing an amazing job into helping newbies and non-techs getting into IT. You are gems! 😊
Thank you very much!
This is great! Just getting started on my IT journey so I'm just soaking it all up. Thank you, this stuff is so appreciated.
Glad you find use in my content.
Let's go Jamesy, you're gonna go places!
You really boosted my confidence, thanks for your work
Happy to hear that!
Keep doing what your doing your awesome!! :)
Sounds sorta like my orientation years ago, but I just work in a grocery store. For me that was 25 years ago,. I've basically used computers since the 1980's and had to deal with customers since the 1990's.
I need a career change and going to start studying for the A+ cert so that once I get a help desk job I wont go in blindly. Hopefully I'll transition well. The thought of setting up computers sounds interesting and I really want a less physical and more paying job going forward.
I even just recently decided to change my mourning routine to help. I'll walk and jog in the mourning then study for the A+ cert for a few hours before I have to go into work each day and only play my game on my days off.
That will be a huge change for me because the reason I stayed with my company this long is because I basically just gamed for 4 hours every morning before going to work, but now I'm really in need of a career change.
Good luck! Glad you're getting the motivation and fire under you to go out there and do better for yourself. That tells me that you'll do well in this field. Thanks for watching.
Great perspective on IT Help Desk role!
Very reassuring video thanks man
No problem!
Thanks for this information
Thank you for this video, great content!
No problem!
You've got a lot of certifications! I'm currently trying to get the CCST, I saw your video on the ISC2 a few minutes ago, I'm thinking about aiming for that one afterwards.
Thanks for watching and for the feedback. Good luck!!
I love your content Jamesy
Thank you! Glad you like it.
Great video mate, thanks! Would be cool to see some 'day in the life' type content too 👍
I’ll consider it!
Thank you for this video, your really help me a lot for my new journey as a IT helpdesk btw I'm from Philippines.
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching!
Great video :)
Thanks!
Good video!
IT Help Desk, how may I help you?
thanks for sharing your experience and helping us out! kind of a weird question but is it ridiculous to go into your first day and take notes with a pen and paper as the supervisor is showing me around? Or should I be using my phone to put the notes into an app? Thanks for you time!
I think it depends on the company/supervisor. If in doubt, ask. If you're own your phone taking notes and don't tell them, they may assume you're doing something else on your phone.
@@JJFlores197 Really agree with this statement ^ I would probably do pen and paper to be safe. Since it would be in my eyes more respectful to listen and take notes physically than on a phone which like JJ said can look like you're doing other things.
which beginner IT Cert do you recommend for help desk?
If you have no clue, A+. If you are good with computers, get the network + and Security +.
@@tlopez5069always get A+ first. Even if you have experience. Its just helpful to build off of
@@tlopez5069i think i know a lot about PCs so o guess I should go for Net+ then?
As someone who's very beginner , would you recommend getting the ITF+ and A+ Certs?
ITF maybe but I would go for the A+ to be honest. If you're not confident maybe do the Google IT Professional certification it has good coursework and will teach you the things you need to know for the A+. Goodluck!
@@Jamesytech22 You’re awesome, thanks for the reply man
I always was intrested in IT but life moved me into business.
I am now financially free and stable hence why I have started my IT journey at the age of 40 😂
Nice! Good luck!
hi im from Morocco do ihave chance to find it help desk job online?? do ineed degree or experience? and thank you for youre help
You can find jobs online. Most of the time, a certification or some sort of IT experience is expected when applying. I would get something like the A+ or better to get an IT help desk job.
wich website is best to get training for IT help desk?
Hmm that’s very broad but if you want a full course then Google’s IT Support Professional has a free trial. The A+ cert has to
do with basic computer knowledge that’s used in help desk.
Did you have any Certs before you applied to this job?
I had the Google IT Professional cert and the ITF+. I also had intern experience at my school which did more than the certs in my opinion.
It sounds like your job is closer to a Level I/II SysAdmin not a Helpdesk Intern. Ask for more money haha! :)
Haha…
niche is pronounced "neesh" btw not "nitch" good video tho 👍
I used to say that all the time until everyone started correcting me lol…
haha no worries then!
what the hell is an IT help desk?
Pretty much supporting IT within a company
I honestly thought those jobs no longer existed... Guess I was wrong.@@Jamesytech22
@@altaccount648 lol dude. They're very much still a thing. In some businesses, they're outsourced. But in other businesses, they still have in-house IT support. I work in a school district in IT support as an IT tech.
Typo in the title, you accidentally hit P instead of L.
🤣🤣 love it
