Please let me know what you think of the new Firebox Cast Iron Cook-All (still deciding on the name). My first testing video for this new product prototype was more detailed as to all the features and functions, here's a link for your reference: • Prototype Testing! Fee...
In this video I use it on, or should I say in, a campfire. In my previous testing video I used it exclusively with the 5" G2 Firebox Stove. So far I'm loving it! Please comment your thoughts below.
While imagining the many cooking techniques possible on my latest camping gear creation, Emma (our carnivore child) came to mind. Lol, I need to do a mash-up video of her and I eating Beef Steaks at different locations over the years. She's a true connoisseur. I was able to entice her (with prime cuts) into doing a camp with me. The original plan was to sleep overnight at the truck then hike in to a beautiful little trout fishing lake where we planned to spend another night. It's a good thing the mosquitoes were so bad that we decided to run away because later that day a record storm hit while driving home. I've never seen so much rain at one time! Buckets! We dodged a bullet for sure! Hopefully Emma and I will get a chance to make it to the lake before the end of the year. Her and I fished that lake about four years ago and she caught the biggest. I'd say it's about time for a rematch ;)
I've been designing bushcraft style camping products for over ten years now and I've got to say that these trips, where I learn what my product are like to live with is the very best part. I find myself realizing improvements and sometimes completely new possibilities that I feel gives my products an edge over bigger corporate style companies. Please take a moment to check out more of my hard work by visiting my website via this link: fireboxstove.com/
Thanks, Steve

I absolutely love your testing videos Steve. Jealous of your adventures. And tell Em she's a wondeful rare daughter these days who would choose an outdoor adventure with her father. You're so blessed.
Thank you Timmy! I let her know that all the time. I'm so grateful to have my family 👍😎👌
I think the new cast iron pieces are a fantastic idea. because of your R&D work, they can be used as a lightweight, more transportable, Dutch oven, I really like that.
Thank you Paul! So glad you like them!
awesome video Dad....my youngest daughter was my pardner she would have turned 27 this month she was killed in 2021 ...I sure miss her ...keep her close Dad .thank you for this video
So sorry for your loss. We always need to remember how fragile life is and to appreciate it!
Good to see Emma again! Wow! She's turning into a beautiful young lady!
Kids grow like weeds, it's amazing to see how much she has grown!!
Love the cast iron pans!!!
Yes, she's definitely turning into a wonderful young adult. They are all getting so big. The cast iron pans are pretty neat, we are very excited about them! 😁
That amazing lake looks like a movie set. Cant think of a more beautiful coffee or camp place
My thoughts exactly👍😎👌 I love it when there's rocks on the water's edge 👍
Good job. Glad to see your daughter out there with you again. Emma 😊
Me too! I wish my daughters could get out with me once per year but they're just so darn busy these days 👍😎👌😆
@@fireboxstove I guess being grateful for the time together in the crazy, busy times. Happy for you.
I can't wait till they become available for purchase. This will be on every bushcrafter's
packing list.
We are pretty excited about them!! Thanks for the support. 😁
Your little girl has grown up into a beautiful fine lady. I think it is awesome that she still spends time with dad outdoors. Most ladies her age are to busy...especially in the rain...lol. i cant even get my boys to come for an afternoon picnic. They say..take your dogs. SO I DO!
Thank goodness for dogs 👌👍😎 Thanks so much with a kind words which I did pass on to Emma.
Great new piece of kit.
It’s been fun watching your kids grow up in these videos over the years.
Thank you. They grow too quickly for sure! 😁
I prefer cast iron as it lasts a lifetime and is easy to clean and maintain. I love that its so multifunctional (like most of your stuff). I would definitely buy this for car camping, would be a solid addition to my kit. I would be interested in its weight but can probably guess. Lovely video thanks
Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to let me know your feedback 👍😎
Just when I think I have all the cooking gear I need. This is brilliant! Can’t wait to buy a set and play with them. I have loved every Firebox product I’ve ever purchased, and I so appreciate your connection to your customers, through videos and recipes and sharing the testing process and all of it. I’m a senior female solo camper, and cooking lakeside is my happy place, so thank you for this lovely video, and please thank Emma too. When you’re ready to release this product, please consider offering a set-two cast-iron whatchamacalits, a pair of suitable leather gloves, and a small goat. 😊
I had three daughters (only). They were daddy’s girls, all enjoyed camping, hiking and fishing …until they turned 13-14 years old, when they left Dad. They didn’t even say, “Goodbye”. Then when they turned 25 yo they came back with some kids of their own. YEA…. The cast iron is always great on a fire. Your box skillet/Dutch Oven may be just the ticket…Thanks for sharing. From northern Kentucky
It's great you have those memories with your girls, they'll cherish them always I'm sure. Thanks for your comment and feedback as well! 😁 cheers my friend.
I'm working 3__12hr days so I'm so happy to have you video to bring some happiness to my day..
Love you guys!!!!
Linda from Missouri 👍🥰😊♥️
Thank you Linda! I'm so glad you find these videos helpful 👌👍😎
Love to watch your camping trips. Awesome daughter you have !
Yes! She is great! So much fun to be with 👍😎👌
Steve, this is why I love your channel and your products. It's all about getting outdoors and finding new ways to make great food. The cast iron kit worked beautifully. I love how you got the steaks up to temp and then gave them a nice crust. Excellent job on the cinnamon rolls and then biscuits and gravy. It looks like all of the prep work and practice runs really paid off. Great job!
Thanks 👍
I just love the father daughter moments you share, so very special..
Thank you, I try to make these life long memories with my kids. 😁
Love seeing Emma again! And the new product.
We are super excited about our new products and excited for our new products!! They will be great!
So Love to see Dad and Daughter get some special one-on-one Time. Kudos dad to make time for her❣️🥰💁🏻🙏🏼💙
More like the other way around. I have to talk her into making time for me. lol 👌👍😎
Well steve you made another very enjoyable video thank you . I am glad you had your camping and fishing buddy with you to enjoy .. Father GOD likes to see fathers and there children doing things together and enjoying each other there ant enough of that in this world so thank for your good example .. A big howdy to you and your family from the mountains of KENTUCKY ..
As always! I appreciate your ongoing support!
I sure miss camping with my kids… my oldest daughter is 47 and my baby girl is 40… with two maniac brothers in between. We had some serious good times back then…
It is sad when winter kill hits your favorite little fishing hole. It used to happen all to often in the Bear Tooth’s in Wyoming… then Wyoming Game & Fish decided that the brookies were not Indigenous… my favorite fish to eat.
I can imagine flipping my steak over with “Firebox” grill lines all across the cut.
Those cinnamon rolls and biscuits (as I eat my 2” thick French Toast) are mouth watering.
I am pretty sure either Wyoming or Utah should adopt the mosquito as the state bird… darn those things!
I think you cast iron griddle, skillet pan is going to a hit! Another awesome video sir, God bless and thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for your vote of encouragement Ray 👌👍😎
@@fireboxstove you are welcome Steve. I have been the back pack thing for almost 50 years. If you look at my pack kit now, it’s all Firebox gear. Your products work period. I try to avoid camping in the Goni Desert so I can always find stick to get my water hot for coffee or a meal. You stoves give me the option to prepare food as good as I can at home and that my freind is cool.
Cheers
Super entertaining video, from trespassing on a closed road, to Maggie growling over Emma.
Introducing the Firebox Fiddle makes music for your Mouth. Not just a griddle its a Fiddle.
From the Folks at Firebox.
Cheers!
Nice! Glad you enjoyed it
What a wonderful father and daughter campout! Such wonderful memories! Bill cracks me up, especially when he was bullying Emma and his hackles were raised, too funny! Emma has the absolute right idea about how much icing should go on the cinnamon buns, yum! The new addition to the cook set is awesome, the ideal new pans! Thanks for sharing. :) :)
Thank you for the comment, for watching and for your support. It was a great trip, worth all the delicious food! 😋
What a wonderful perfect trip.❤
Yes it was! Thanks!
The master does it again! Happy Labor Day to ya!
Thank you Gray Wolf! Thanks for being at the premiere 👍😎
Really nice to see your daughter still love going camping with you... you got a great loving family keep it up firebox guy i really love all your creations and that skillet i muat buy
Thanks 👍👌😎 much appreciated!
The cast iron pans look great, the steaks, cinnamon rolls, and biscuits and gravy are to die for!👍😃
Thanks Paul! 👌👍😎
Lookin’ good. Excited for the the new additions to the Firebox family of products. The square pot is pretty exciting too. Reminded me of the old days with you cooking trout and hash browns on the old square GSI skillet. Keep up the great work and making memories with your family. It’s nice you share the experience with all of us.
Nice Eric! That goes way back probably 10 years or so 👍😎👌
Steve your ideas are endless but when you show us some of the possibilities that the new cookware can do, that only creates a sale for Firebox😊
Thanks! 👌👍😎
I always like your videos, Steve, but the ones with you and your family are my favorites.
Thank you! I tried to do a little bit of everything but I enjoy being with my family the most as well. It's hard to get everyone's schedules to line up especially once school starts.
You're driving skills could make this a 4x4 channel if you ever get bored with the cooking!
Lol, yeah. I've been enjoying off-roading since I was 16 and got my first vehicle which was a Jeep CJ5 1975. Blew up the engine and replaced it with a AMC 360. Too much fun for a kid I'd say 👌👍😎
Your persistence in seeking simplicity and perfection is infectious. I thought my Firebox 'Nano' and 5" Firebox were all I would ever need, but an open mind and your creativity has given rise to new possibilities...
Thanks! I'm just having fun and letting my life experience dictate ideas 👍😎👌😆
Very nice addition to camping cookware. I like it very much.
Thank you so much Roy I appreciate your feedback 👌👍😎
@@fireboxstove your welcome.
Another great video Steve and ahh coffee time lol fantastic kit your getting sorted 👌 😀
Thank you Brindle
I love it when it's "coffee time"
Lol best time!! 👌
Great idea Steve...this will be a nice addition to our Firebox Fridays!!!! Cheers!!!
That's awesome, Firebox Fridays!! Thanks for the support. 😁
Wow Emma sure grew for a second I thought she was your wife 😂. Love that new pack.
Lol, yep, they are getting way too big!! Thanks for the comment! 😁
Love the video, I always enjoy seeing the dogs. Pans look great. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much! 😁
Steve you are the Tony Stark of camp cooking equipment my friend. Awesome.
Lol, thanks!
I can't wait till the cast-iron pans are available
I'm glad to know I have your support. Thanks so much for letting me know.
I have been watching your videos for the past 5 years or so. I am inspired that you keep pushing the boundaries with new creative ideas. I can't wait to see what you think of next.
Thank you very much, that's truly appreciated!! I'm constantly thinking what can make camp cooking that much better.......
Hi Steve!
We love the cast iron plates. It’s definitely something we can bring on a canoe camping trip. You make great videos 👍 thanks!
Thank you very much for the kind words and support!! 😁
Can’t wait for the new pan addition and that coffee kit pack looks mighty sweet as well 🤗 You may have addressed it in another video and I missed it, but where is Levi? 🥺 Thanks Steve and Emma and the rest of the pack for another adventure!
Thanks for your feedback,Because of multiple blockages Levi had his urinary tract rerouted out the back which makes it difficult to put a pack on him. I have some ideas and hope to get him back on the trail soon.
@@fireboxstove aww so sorry to hear. Thank you for responding. May he heal from his surgery well and quickly ❤️🩹
Really liking the cast pans! It looks like I’ll be adding them and possibly a new pack to the things to get! Love the adventures Steve. Your blessed w/ amazing places.
Thank you for the comment and your support, it's greatly appreciated!! 😁
Girl Dads Rock! Great trip and I am stoked about the cast iron collection. That pack looks cool as well…gonna take all my allowances. Cannot wait Steve!
Lol, that's awesome! We are super excited about the cast iron pans as well. Girl dad's indeed rock!!
Great video with your daughter. I like the cast iron pans, looking forward to seeing more.
Thanks 👍
Thank you Steve and Emma for these tests. The new Firebox Cast Iron Kit was certainly put through it's paces and demonstrated you have another worthy winner..
Thank you! I'll let Emma know that she got to mention 👌👍😎 she's a good sport for letting me film her in these videos 😆
Long time user and lover of your firebox products. Watching you use and test your inventions outdoors with your own family is why your gear works so good.
Glad you like them! Thanks so much for your ongoing support!
the cook-all looks awesome! would love to buy one!
Thanks! Glad to know I have your vote of confidence 👍😎👌
Everything ok with Levi? He's been absent from the last few videos that you have Bill out with you. I see you managed to dodge that pesky stalking rooster too on this trip. Maggie's turning into a very good girl with the training she's responding to. Emma seems to be your adventure buddy, makes a dad's heart glad to see that, and I know you're cherishing every moment of it.
Lovin' that new cast iron! Sadly, ALL of my camping gear was stolen a little over a month ago, including all three of my Firebox Stoves and cook kits. All of my hammocking gear, my cot/tent, my chuck box, my stakes/poles/lines/tarps... all of it. Thousands of dollars worth of gear. I really despise thieves/burglars.
I hate hearing about things being stolen! Lowest of the low lives in this world are thieves!
Because of multiple blockages Levi had his urinary tract rerouted out the back which makes it difficult to put a pack on him. I have some ideas and hope to get him back on the trail soon.
Glad to see the new cast iron working out. I love cooking with cast iron. I use "egg" rings to divide food in my skillet. After watching the original vid for the new cast iron, I have imagined all the different uses. I think I suggested using a divider to cook 2 different items in it. I think 2 handles with one shaped to fit as a divider would be great. You could bake 2 loaves of bread or biscuits on each side. Or eggs on one side and bacon on the other. I would definitely buy the shallow pan and also the deeper pan. I have a 1-quart Dutch oven. Your new cast iron would be a great replacement.
Thanks for the creative ideas. Definitely be kept in mind moving forward. 👌👍😎
Looking forward to the release of the CI pans. The more I see of them, the more I like them.
I also like that spice grinder...
Thank you for that support!! We are extremely excited as well.
That is one cool cast iron invention! As always a very relaxing adventure and delicious looking steaks!
I cook and bake with small cast iron skillets on my large Firebox stove. The rectangular design and the ability to cook on the top and the bottom is a wonderful idea! Can't wait till they're available to try thank you for your wonderful videos and tutorials
Thank you very much, that is awesome to hear! We are still discovering what these pans can do as well, it's pretty cool. 😁
Steve, dude! Take my money! I've been a fan and supporters of firebox for years, have the Gen 1 and the Nano, carry bags, cooking tins and so many accessories, this is the holy grail!
Thanks Paul I'm so glad to hear that you like it!
steve, honestly this is a great new idea and product to go with the firebox stove series of products. I look forward to the product release. amazing,
Steve can i order direct from your still or do i need to order from a
Canadian distributor? @@fireboxstove
We watch your beautiful videos with my family (and children) .Greetings from Turkey ❤
You are so kind👍👌😎
I'd still love one of these.
One thing I noticed with my 5" firebox, is it never scorches what's underneath it. The only time I have issues is when embers fall out the feed hole. I don't think I would ever set my stove on top of the cast iron.
Thanks for your feedback. I have definitely burned some wooden surfaces. He definitely transfers past the ash pan of the 5-in firebox 👌
Thank you for all of your adventures!
As you could see it was my pleasure. Thank you for joining us. 👌😎👍
Hardcore hammer axe to the rescue!
Some kind of trivet to get the griddles off the coals so they can get some air. Certainly do work well as an oven even without the trivet. I've seen small trivets made of horse shoes. Could use rocks to get it off the coals as well. I like the locking pin concept to keep them from sliding sideways.
Thank you for your feedback, we really appreciate that! We are very excited about this product and it's abilities we are still discovering. 😁
Thermacell for mosquitos is terrific
nice trip....
Pioneer cookware! I love how the baking comes out. Some exciting possibilities are coming our way.
Thanks Jan!
The new pieces are great. Grill, bake, what is next?.
Keep up the experiments.
Thank you!! We are super excited about the possibilities!
Love the cast iron plates Steve. Great idea!
Glad you like them! Thanks for letting me know 👍👌😎
Another awesome video. Not surprised how great you are!!!
Wow, thank you! 😊
Would love to have you give a class on the Firebox Stove next year at the Palmetto ADV Rally in Charleston, SC
Sure, sign me up 👌👍😎
@fireboxstove that would be awesome i will email you to discuss thanks for your time and great products
Love the videos! Great product. Wonderful family. You're a blessed man!
Thank you very much!! 😁
Can't wait to add this to my camping kitchen!
It'll be a great addition!! 😁 thanks for the support.
What a Fun trip, very cool.!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Killer video as always, Steve! Love the new stove, could be a game changer in the backcountry, I love the size of it. So many possibilities for cooking!
Thank you into the wild we go! You're that fly fisherman that I met up at that trailhead. I remember you, heck of a nice guy!
Yes sir! I hope we run into each other again, intentionally this time! @@fireboxstove
For once the mosquitoes were a GOOD thing, eh? :D Glad you avoided that storm! :D Chuckled at your description of "bribing" Emma to camp with the promise of quality STEAK! :D
I'm looking forward to seeing the progression of the cast iron product(s) It appears your seasoning has developed significantly from the first test you showed? Looks like the ("standard vs. deeper) pans provided adequate airspace and room to rise for the cinnamon rolls as well as the biscuits. That was the question I was most curious to have answered.. and with a positive outcome! :D YUM!
Misc. questions:
- Was that the blue cordage you sell on your site, that suspended your tarp?
- Which size round cutting board were you using for your steaks?
- What general grind of coffee works best in the aeropress? AND, does decaf coffee work OK in it? (for a bedtime brew :D ) I know that some home coffee makers don't do well with decaf.
- what knife were you using for kindling prep, and was that the same knife Emma used for steak-cutting?
- Did you take any special TYPE of firewood for your cooking/baking? It seemed to create decent coals, and it didn't seem to create as much of the thick sticky soot common with much of the pine/fir we have out west?
Beautiful scenery/video footage was the added bonus as is so often the case with your videos! :D
HI STEVE & EMMA 👋
LOOKED LIKE A GORGEOUS TIME !
WHY DOESN'T THE LAKE HAVE ANY FISH IN IT ? THE PUPPY IS GROWING UP FAST & GETTING BETTER LISTENING TO . LOVE THE CAST IRON SETUP YOU'RE TRYING OUT , ALSO MAKING SURE IT CAN BE USED FOR MANY WAYS OF COOKING , BAKING , GRILLING ! NEXT TIME I GET A CHANCE TO GET TO THE AMISH MARKET WILL HAVE TO GET SOME OF THEIR FRESH OFF THE HOOF SAUSAGE & TRY & MAKE THAT ON A SUNDAY MORNING ! LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE GETTING A ROUND BETTER ! MY OLDEST SON WAS DELIVERING KEGS AT ONE OF HIS STOPS & THE GENTLEMAN / MAYBE LADIES ? NOT SURE DIDN'T WRAP THE PALLETS RIGHT AGAIN / WHILE HE WAS TAKING A FULL KEG OFF ONE OF THE PALLETS ANOTHER CAME LOOSE FELL & CRUSHED HIS ONE FOOT ! BELIEVE ME HE DOESN'T SHOW TEARS OR CRY MUCH BUT WHEN HE CALLED ME AT HOME I COULD HEAR IT IN HIS VOICE ! ONE OF THE SALES PERSONAL THAT WAS AT HIS LUNCH TIME WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT CAME OUT TO HELP FINISH HIS ROUTE / STOPS ! HE KNEW IF HE TOOK HIS BOOT OFF HE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO PUT IT BACK ON . I'VE HAD IT HAPPEN WITH SEWER LIDS THE STEEL TOE BOOTS HELP A LITTLE BIT. MOST LIKELY HAVE TO GET A NEW PAIR THOUGH. I / WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE SPECIALIST IS GOING TO SAY OR DO SOMETIME THIS WEEK 🤔 FINGERS CROSSED ! HOPE YOUR FAMILY & FRIENDS HAVE A GREAT LABOR DAY WEEKEND 😊 BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! ENJOYED 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS ON YOUR ADVENTURES 🙏 YOUR CHILDREN / YOUNG LADIES & GENTLEMAN ARE GROWING UP FAST TOO 😀 THANK YOU 🙏
These lakes are up near 11,000 ft on the top of a mountain where the snow load winter kills some of the lakes depending upon depth. This year all the lakes but two winter killed. Thanks so much for your thoughtful kind comments!
Great video Steve
Glad you enjoyed it👌👍😎
Steve just ordered the firebox ultra cook kit and looking forward to adding this to my bushcraft cooking kit. Steve you have set bar for cooking gear and then you just raise it higher. Thank you for your hard work and testing of your products. Bless you and your family.
Thank you Brandon! I appreciate your kind endorsement 👌👍😎
Steve great videos. I always enjoy them. It may have been said in past chats but I didn't see. How much do the pans weigh. They are a grea
Fat fingered They are a great idea.
That cast iron is super!
Thanks!
Great video! I really love the cast iron set. I also liked the little prototype pack you had the coffee kit in. 👍
Thanks! Stay tuned in fact, you might want to be sure you have notifications turned on so you don't miss any announcements 👌👍😎 Thanks again!
We are all hoping that Levi is ok?! 🐐🐐🐐🐐
He's fineBecause of multiple blockages Levi had his urinary tract rerouted out the back which makes it difficult to put a pack on him. I have some ideas and hope to get him back on the trail soon.
Steve, I own and use about half your product line... Excellent ! I have a suggestion though.... in your videos,,, could you show the fire being put out ? There are too many beginners out here that need to be reminded to ALWAYS make sure that the fire is OUT. Here in Oregon there are at least a dozen fires started every year because people don' t make sure it's OUT. Thanks, and keep it coming.
Thank you for the suggestion and your ongoing support. That's greatly appreciated! Fire safety is always very important. 😁
Very very excited for the Square Dutch pans! Just bought the 5 inch stove and loving it. The cast iron would make the best compliment to what I use!
That's awesome to hear! Thank you for the support and we hope you enjoy many great meals out there. We are hoping to have the pans at the end of this year, beginning of next year. They'll be great!!
Thanks for making the cinnamon rolls I suggested from the last video.
I could taste them on tv. Lol
Lol we need taste-o-vision and smell-o-vision in our lives. 🤣
Shame I'll be missing the rendevous this year and the chance to see the new stuff. Can't wait for the Kickstarter drop!
Thank you Chris! I sure appreciate your support on this. Be sure to have notifications turned on so you don't miss any announcements 👌👍😎
Absolute life inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Chris!
Road closed? I don't think that means what you think it means! Really digging the concept and testing of this cast iron set so far. The steak, cinnamon rolls, and biscuits all turned out so well. I'd like to try a frittata/quiche style bake with those. The seasoning looks pretty good in the video, with enough butter the eggs probably won't stick. Having two lifting handles might be handy in certain situations like moving them around the fire/coals. Perhaps some sort of scrub brush/pad attachment could be made that connects to the handle for cleaning once they're cool? There might be other ways to make the handle multi-use. That bag looks interesting, and the chest pack part sound cool too. It will compliment my Jake pack nicely. Great team work in the video and as usual Bill stole the show. My favorite part was him eating the pine needles while you were trimming the tarp pole. Glad y'all didn't get caught out in the storm. Peace and Freedom!
Thank you very much for the suggestions and feedback, it's truly appreciated! Not to mention you have great ideas. 😊 we are excited about the new gear we have coming out.
That was wonderful!
Thank you!
Im all eager to get my hand on those pans :) Any idea when they might be up for sale?
We will offer them on a Kickstarter campaign first. Which will open in a month or so 👍😎
@@fireboxstove Awesome!
Looking forward to it!

This is going to be a killer Steve!
Nice! Thank you!
Really likin the new pans, are they on the site yet?
Not yet, still prototype testing. Watch for the Kickstarter campaign coming soon!
Looks like more excellent products on the way. I am more of a Nano guy, but could see how a couple of sizes of cast Iron pan could be great for car camping.
Thanks Joseph! We do have the new Box Pot which is a perfect companion for the Nano check out my recent Moto camping video to see it. 👌😎👍
Can't wait to buy one of these!!
Thanks!
