Thanks Shane, I was grinning as much as you in the video, I want to start going back to more natural back(bike)packing so just ordered one on your recommendation.
really looking forward to trying it out soon.
stephen Sparrow that's awesome. I'm super excited for you. You'll have to go onto Facebook and post some pics to StoveAholics when you do!! Thanks for watching!!
So much enthusiasm! 😂. Just bought one myself. Great breakdown r view, definitely one of the best I've seen. Cheers!
I recently picked up the powerful little folding firebox stove. I was blown away as well. Everything cooked up so much quicker than an open fire. It uses very little fuel and cooks extremly efficiently. I added a few accessories recently--extended grill plate, boil plate, extra fire sticks and adjustable fire grate. I think it will give me many more options for fuel and cooking choices. Thanks for the backyard review.
Thanks for the demonstration. I'm reconsidering this stove.
Thanks so much Shane!
I want to send out a big thank you! To the awesome Firebox community for all the support over the years and for the thoughtful feedback that continues the evolution of all our products! I wish everyone great times in the woods with their Firebox Stoves
Great demo of the new features, I think you explained it better than I did! I posted a video today as well.
One nice thing about the New FB is that we didn't lose any of the previous functionality. We gained 6 new features and the overall performance of the stove has improved. I can't believe how much I like the side feed holes even when I'm feeding the stove from the top. They provide such a nice draft of combustion air to the stove, and when the breeze flows into one it stokes the coals like a forge! Then, when using the side feed exclusively I've found that there's enough air flow up through the bottom to burn the coals to ash quickly enough that they don't build up maintaining free air flow for long duration burns.
I'm so pleased with how it turned out!
+FireboxStove I don't see where the costs of production vs profit comes in on this product. Maybe you can work on the costs.
+FireboxStove Love this product, nice to see a company listening to and acting on customer feedback, do you intend to release a titanium version of the standard size firebox Gen2? that really would be the ultimate in lightweight and versatility!! ;-)
really every one should have one of these in case of emergencies also. like the people in florida who have no hydro and anything else right now so they could survive by cooking something for their families until they can get help. Great video thanks for sharing
I have been watching videos..and thinking hard..i have a firebox in my cart...you just pushed me over the edge with the comparison...thank you...SOLD!!!!
Thanks man! You’re going to love it!
Thanks Shane for your enthusiastic review of the Firebox Gen2 :-) ! Thanks for pointing out all the holes and possibilities on the Firebox, very informative. I love that you drink tea when you camp. Now I"m gonna go find a Firebox!
Great video Shane, lots of energy and excitement thanks for sharing
It's good to get a review from somebody who has product knowledge. Some can't even open the Firebox before they tell me how it works. Subscribed !
Hey man, thanks for your Sub. and thanks for such a nice comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It was a super fun stove to burn in.
that's cool, I'm glad I found your channel. looking forward to watching.

Share away man. It will put you in the drawing.
Very nice one brother! Looks great and I love the improvements
Be well
Craig
Shane, I have shared this on my Facebook page. I already own the 5" Folding Firebox and the NANO. Both are excellent stoves and Steve offered an excellent value to us Military folks, I like how you explained the differences between the two.. good job
Hey Thanks Ken! That's great he gave you guys some savings, you guys deserve a discount for your service. I'm real glad you enjoyed the video. Your in man! Good luck!
Love your enthusiasm oh and the stove too!
Thanks a lot!! I love stoves so much!! Lol!
Great review Shane! I really like it when companies take care of the mod-suggestions the customers made. And congrats to 1000 subs! Cheers, Marc
Thanks Marc! Yeah, this is what happens when companies listen and actually try to meet all the needs as possible. It's just an all around cool stove man. I believe this shared on Google +. .....you're in!
Hi Shane! I know what you mean about the butterflies! when I am riding by bike down the path I see them taking off as I am riding by them, it's so neat to watch them, it's like they are escorting me down the path! Nice fire box, I have gen 1 and I love it, I need to get the lighter version tho and now it looks like I'll need to get the gen 2! wow nice upgrades on it, love the side feed hole!
Awesome video! I just forwarded it to 5 campin buds of mine... I'm sure they'll order one if they haven't already!
Thanks Shane!
Awesome vid... emailed it to some buds! Gotta try that Swedish torch too!
Thanks Shane!
I am so glad I waited to get one now. That stove looks awesome. I shared. Thanks for the review.
Thanks so much Deb, it's appreciated.
I just got one of these. Have yet to fire it. Thanks for the video!
Nice video. I have the Gen2 and am going to be using it this weekend so was refreshing myself on options/how to.
So, a good stove is getting even better.. This could be "the one" for our snowy winter trips. Congratz on thousand subs! Shared this to my Finnish friends too.
Thanks for sharing this. I hope, they're as impressed as much as I am. Good luck!
Hiyazz Shane from Eastern Canada, eh? ... lol I really enjoyed your review of the 5" Folding Firebox Stove Gen 2.
I loved the new mods they have added and ones they are working to add before final production. It looks like one mod was taken from their Nano Folding Firebox Stove (the feed slots). Great idea to include to their 5" Folding Firebox Stove. Loved the new bottom plate that allows for the Swedish Fire Torch Method, the addition of the additional slots for the Trangia Stove and the addition of the slots to the bottom for the fire damper.
I have been in an e-mail discussion with Steve DeSpain from Firebox, about 2 years ago, about making a titanium version of its 5" Folding Firebox Stove (Gen 1 at the time) as they did with their Nano Folding Firebox Stove. They where still working on design and cost issues at that time, and may still be. I hope they resolve that issue soonest so I can buy the 5" Folding Firebox Stove Gen 2 in titanium as well as in stainless steel.
I sent an e-mail link to your CZcams video review and asked for his opinion on it as well. I think he's going to like it as well. Am going to order one of the 5" Folding Firebox Stoves Gen 2 in the new year; the more I look at it and study it the more I want one!! Can't wait to get it and try it out with various types of fuel systems.
Thanks for the newest update!
Regards,
Kalvin Noble

Shane those Monarch butterflies were so cool I just love them!! The stove is just amazing!! I really like the changes. I don't have any of them at all but I have seen them. Great review, very informative, thanks!
Thanks for watching and commenting. It's appreciated!
would you say that the firebox is similar in BTU as the solo campfire? Would you characterize your fuel as a swedish configuration? How does the tradeoff between gasification and pack volume?
Man that was a good video I got one an hadn’t been using it for a while I’m going to now motorcycle camping 👍🏼
Hey!! That’s awesome! Thanks for the mice comment. I appreciate you coming along with me.

Love the firebox
If only I could have fire in the Black Hills. That is one sweeeet stove bro.
It is a sweet stove! You've got the Trangia option, lol. I know man. Thanks for watching man. I'll bring it along when we get together. Well cook some breakfast on it before we set out.....
+Shane Coffey cool. Do we have a new time set for the meet up?
Best stoves on the market!
Really nicely done. I have a First Gen. one, but mine looks different to yours. I have 1 big Square at the front, where I can feed bigger Sticks. On the Top I saw that you have foldable plates. I don't. On mine all 4 sides are not movable. I must have one bought one of the 'before release to the public' stoves. Bought it in Switzerland. I drove with my KLR650 over all Alps, as well as from Vancouver Island, Canada to Alaska in Winter. Cooking, sleeping and all outside and solo. I really love this stove. However when feeding it with fast burning wood, which is that one you will find most in european forrests, I found out that the stove burns so damn well, that I have a hard time to grill my meat as there is almost no coal left. You won't find even the ashes. As with only a couple of wooden sticks you can cook, and you are finish with your meat, while others on a regular wooden campfire are still waiting that their wood burns down into coals, it was and still is, a wonderful feeling with this stove. Foldable, durable, usefull, heck I go often into the wild just because I am so happy to stick around this stove and are completely satisfied. And since I bought a foldable saw with me, I am able to cut the thicker wood and have a longer duration of Fire (nice for camping-atmosphäre) and better coals too.
Thank you so much for your very nice comment. I really appreciate that. I agree with you so much
Sweet video
Hey, Shane! Congrats on your 1000 subscriber milestone. I've been watching your videos for a long time now and really enjoy them. I shared this video on my Facebook page and I finally got around to subscribing! Sheesh, I thought I was subbed because I watch your vids all the time, so I was kind of puzzled when I checked to make sure and saw that I wasn't! Lol, well I remedied that real quick. Please put me in the running for the give away.
Hey Helen, Thanks for all your support and for sharing this! You're in for sure! Good luck.
I like subscribed and shared about the crowdfunder campaign for firebox to on the 25th
Shared to Facebook, google plus, and twitter thaanks
great review. How large are the side feed holes?
I have the Gen 1 5" stove and love it. Would recommend to anyone out there for sure. I just shared and subscribed...
I think your Swedish fire stove turned into a Dutch over, as it "sharted" to go down. 22:07
I have the first gen and is great, but Ive always wondered why it wasn't designed with feed slots on the bottom. Ive thought about dremeling out a couple as feeding from the top when cooking is kind of lame. The Emberlit has them, but the firebox is a way better stove.
All the other "upgrades" to the Gen 2 don't seem to be all that exciting to me. The holes in the bottom of the gen 1 are just fine and allow plenty of air flow.
I may buy another one of these just because it has feed slots
Way to go shane on the 1,000 subs! congrats!! very cool stove but you know I share your videos whether or not it's for a giveaway man :-) But I must say that would be so cool to go with that HELIKON-TEX Mess-Kit !!!!!! Hint Hint... very cool stove man and now I want to try to make a swedish stove!!
Thank Jeremy. You're in Dude. I appreciate you watching. I know your going to have you're hands full here in a few Months....congrats and good luck on the Stove Bro.
Your video was very informative. A good stove is something I need to make a first rate kit. I'm leaning toward bio-mass stoves and love the capability of being able to also use alcohol burner. This may be the one for me. I shared your video on Tumblr and hope you will include me in your drawing. Thanks.
Your in Man!
I thought the 2 offset side feed holes were so that the wood could be fed criss-crossed to give a better burn?
I thank it a miracle to make a stove like that and it small to I don’t have to bring the big stove
what are the saw/axe/knife tools you are using?
Do you know if they plan on making a titanium version of the full size Firebox? I got really excited about version 2 until I realized that the changes were largely cosmetic. I have the full size version, but use the titanium nano more often because of weight issues.
Gabriel G Louw well, there has been Talk, but nothing As of yet. Trust me.. as soon as they drop one I'll be the first in line to buy one. Lol
I shot them an email asking about it. They got back to me pretty quick. They are attempting to develop one, but they're having problems getting the price right. Personally, I don't mind paying a premium price for a premium product. I certainly spent enough on my Heavy Cover canteens, and those were worth every penny.
Gabriel G Louw I totally agree with you. I love my Heavy Cover Canteen kit. It goes everywhere with me. I'm in Rome on vacation.. guess what's on my hip.
Take care
Shane
Yes that is the best
Ok ki need that Stove
Excellent Review!!!!
Thanks brother. It was a blast to work with!
what are the pollution ideas on these stoves with the smoke .Thanks for the video.
It's the least amount of smoke possible for one person, and uses a fraction the amount of fuel of any other cooking alternative.
I shared it on my face book app to all my friends . I want one so bad since I'm a single women need it for emergency thank you
Just subscribed and shared the video G+. nice video
Thanks so much man for the subscription and for the share I appreciate it
I be going to the Philippine soon camping.
Deep in the forest moms lawnmower can be heard at 22:00 as drunk Ol' papa drives into the neighbor parked car at 24:00....
Lol, yeah boats can be loud. That's the joy of being on the River. I'll take the boats on the river making noise over Airplanes . Usually, there's always a plane or two flying over in my videos. I have and Airport and an Air Force base not far from me. Hopefully you enjoyed the video and the mowers didn't distract you too much. Thanks, for putting the minute marks down you really paid attention.
I hope I win the firebox too because now that I finally started finding the survival equipment that I should get to be buying to help myself with what's going on . I have to have surgery in a couple days so I hope I win it thanks for showing your video to me
shared great video.
Trying to decide between this and the biolite camp stove 2
themahonster this Stove is superior to the Biolite for use and functionality.
Does the hot ash on the bottom fall to the ground?
Nope it’s still off the ground
Just curious why you used a hatchet to make a mallet to baton a log instead of just splitting the log with the hatchet? Not judging, just curious. I loved the video. I have a nano and love it, about to order the gen 2 5"
Executive EDC No worries at all. When I have time to spend in the woods or the lake, I enjoy trying out all different types of methods. It helps me become more comfortable using and finding different options in different areas. While it's obviously not a survival situation and it's really more just hanging out and playing around with my stuff. I truly enjoy the different approaches we can all take to make it a bit more interesting and entertaining. I truly appreciate you stopping by and watching, have a great day and I hope to hear from you again.
Shane
Shane Coffey Outdoors understand. Again love all your videos keep it up.
Executive EDC --Because he’s the worlds biggest dildo.
hi Shane, I'm new to your channel. great video! I was looking at the original firebox, now I want the gen 2 for sure. thanks for the info. and I will share this. I'm hoping to win. take care.
Thanks for watching, the giveaway has come to an end already, but stay tuned for more giveaways in the future.I appreciate your comments take care.
Correction required for offset fuel feed holes. Nothing to do with "upward angles". They are offset to allow for sticks to cross over each other. The outward ends of the sticks should never be elevated, but can be lowered to control the burn slightly. Level will produce the fastest rate of burn. Also, newer videos show the correct way to utilize the "Swedish Torch" technique. This is NOT it, Shane. Try quartering a 5" long piece of 5" diameter log, then standing it in the Firebox with the 90 degree angles towards the corners. Alternatively, use four 2 1/2" diameter logs, 5" long. Fill central area with tinder and light.
You’re correct. Lol. You’ve got to cut me some slack. This was the preproduction stove and the first announcement of it. I initially did this burn when a lot of stuff was just coming anew with this, if you notice, this is a gen. two with single slats.. it was hand filed by the owner. I’d say, I’ve lived into this stove pretty well since it was released. Thanks for watching, I appreciate your input.
Slack cut. Enjoyed your video.
Hey man! Thanks a lot!!love your username. Have a good weekend..or, what’s left of it.
More sensible if the damper slid into side slots like the crumb plates on my toaster.
That’s a pretty good concept. Great idea!
Its a good product
is the firebox stove still in production ?
stevek2645 most definitely!! Fireboxstove.com
sweety sweet, put me down Shane for the drawing....
