Torture testing ? The folks watching the video since they are cringing and squirming in there seats. But you have to remember , they say charcoal is good for the digestion , not sure about how much.
The firebox works fantastically well for grilling. You build a bed of coals, and away she goes. You can bake whole chicken over the firebox. It's all a matter of skill.
@@petrosspetrosgali thats weird, in another video he sticks the grill plate inside while the fire is burning to burn off all the grease and food to clean it easier.
that was in depth, fair play, you really hammered the firebox and it stood up to whatever you threw at it, the firebox is one of the best bits of kit that I own, it is so versatile, thanks again for another great review
This is hilarious! I just started laughing when you put all 6 hot dogs on there. "Cooks hot dogs just fine too." ha ha ha ha. Great video Ben. I need to get one of these stoves.
GREAT review .. I have been watching these stove vids from lots of folks .. BEST one! I am now sold on the Firebox with that grill plate for sure! I really like my Silverfire Scout .. but the versatility and how it packs down is great! Thanks!
Wow! Great grilling video! Awesome demonstration. That looked like quite a feast. One quick tip, the grill can't handle a full camp fire under it so we engineered it so the Fire Sticks can be used to attach the Grill Plate after the fire has died down a bit.
Can’t believe you cooked all that different types of food on it. Great demonstration of the stoves capabilities! I like my food well done charred anyway. Great video!
Great job on the torture test and tasty too. Love my Firebox as well as Nano. Steve Despain at Firebox Stoves is a remakable man with a creative mind tempered by a good does of engineering savy and an ability to "think outisde the box" ;) Trapezoidal, what a concept!
Dude, I'm not a camper, I'm not a survivalist, and I'm not a prepper, I'm just a guy that restores and paints old cars, but i love your videos. Your concise and factual and favor none of the products you test, and most importantly your entertaining. Awesome job. I've subscribed and am looking forward to more videos.
Agree. Especially the hot dogs. Cook on coals. Flames burn your food so you dont want flames shooting up touching your food. Flames good for boiling water and cooking in pots and pans. You actually did a perfect job with the smores. Brown crispy skin on marshmallow with no black marks and melted inside.
By golly you're right. I'm so used to torture tests consisting of throwing them off of roofs, dragon them behind trucks, throwing them in the mud, submersing them in water, and all kinds of other things. I don't have much experience with a lot of other stoves but the firebox but I do have has more than met my expectations.two hours of sustaining the fire is pretty rough on metals. You should've pointed that out as your goal. Good video. Thanks
Great review. You put that little bugger through the paces. I have a Lixada and I now suspect this stove is more verstatile. What the heck, a guy could pack both of them they are so small.
Won't you have cross contamination by cooking different types of meat? Very good video, looks like a very good system. I was thinking about this stove and the solo. Which one do you find best? Thanks for the info.
Both different applications. This one is great for grilling or heating larger pots where as the solo stove is more efficient at quick boils, however, the solo now comes in three sizes.
im pretty sure he knows how to cook but hes doing a torture test. burning food on a grill is a good test of it capabilities. ie how easy it is to clean off and how bad it gets stuck to it
The extended grill plate (an optional item) and key to the demo here, is the best money you will ever spend. Look for the kit when you buy your Firebox stove.
I don't mean to be rude. The meat looked very black and burnt. Is that because of the soot coming off the stove or is that because you prefer your meat very well done? How long does it take to get a bed of hot coals before grilling on top?
***** YEah, the stove was hot since I was cooking all day on it, just mainly was going for testing the stove over an extended cooking period and not so much worried about the food. I like 'em bloody like the rest of them ;) Not long to get coals.
I use the firebox, but I have found it's really hard to regulate the flames to keep meat from burning. There is a way to use the ash tray to choke oxygen from the bottom but I haven't experimented with that yet. I have a little 6 inch cast iron I use to make hamburgers with and my 15 inch cast iron balances fine on it as well for more complicated recipes. Also there is a way to put an elevated platform in the stove to rest charcoal briquettes on. This stove is great for making coffee in the morning as well. With a little finesse you can get a good coal base going and just toss a stick or two on once in a while to lick the meat. but really it's just easier to use a pan, preferably cast iron. Hope my experiences help.
I cant tell if the stove sucks, or if you suck at using it. A little of both maybe? I also can't understand why you keep saying how well it works when it's clearly not producing good results.
The stove is superb but the grilling is a disaster . Looks like the dude is doing this for the first time in his life . I can imagine Steve the Firebox guy was crying watching this vid . Wrong guy for promoting this product .
+Living Survival ohhh, ok. Well id say it held up pretty well then. Whats the advantage of owning this, as opposed to building a fire and having a grate with fold out legs?
***** many places like state parks you can't build an open fire. this is a way around it. plus it is more efficient having an actual stove. whatever works though :)
I am really into these portable stoves. I am making my second rocket stove tomorrow my first one goes well but the steel was to heavy and takes too long to heat up the riser. I will upload and share my video with you tomorrow.
You certainly put the stove through a heck of a test. But every thing looked a little over done for my taste; would it be possible to put one layer of tin foil over the grill to stop flare up and blackening the food, it would make cleaning far easier?
This video and the firebox are great , but when cooking anything as greasy as bacon or burger meat it should be cooked in a pan to prevent fire flare-ups from the grease, you will have to be very careful in this department when cooking outside.
There’s a really good reason Steve (creator of Firebox) uses lump charcoal when he grills on his stoves. You don’t get the charring and soot all over your food that you get from wood. If you’re cooking in a pan, wood is fine, but for grilling, you’ve gotta cook with coals or you might as well eat that pan of ash when you’re done.
Good survival kit, but definitely a bad cook :)
Is he torture testing the food or the stove?
Torture testing ? The folks watching the video since they are cringing and squirming in there seats. But you have to remember , they say charcoal is good for the digestion , not sure about how much.
Funnest rip i've herd all year
these types of stoves are just too hot for grilling
The firebox works fantastically well for grilling. You build a bed of coals, and away she goes. You can bake whole chicken over the firebox. It's all a matter of skill.
I think he's torturing any militant vegans that might watch.
I don't know much about cooking but when you said "I'd say the steak's about done.", I laughed out loud!
You burnt all that good food please learn how to use it before trying to tell someone how to use it 😂😂
And season it too.
Apparently, he did not read the instructions. Firebox seems pretty adamant about NOT leaving the grill plate on without food on it.
@@petrosspetrosgali thats weird, in another video he sticks the grill plate inside while the fire is burning to burn off all the grease and food to clean it easier.
You slaughtered that food. That bacon has a solid case for assault & battery against you. Press charges and get a restraining order bacon!
Shiiiiittttt epic comment.
@@ashleybishton742 Thank you, thank you.
@@ashleybishton742 I went ahead and just post another comment on the video for your enjoyment.
On the plus side five years later and that steak is still going strong as the sole of my left shoe😂

Yeah for sure, thanks for the comment!
You definitely put the stove to great use that day. Great video really shows just how versatile the stove actually is. Keep up the good work!
I like when someone actually shows the product in use. This video made me subscribe.
thanks eric, I try to do so in every video.
This is the funniest video I’ve seen all week.......make that month!😂🤣😭

Need some cooking lessons. Too impatient....

Engineered or not it held up to all the abuse I gave it and I never stopped the fire throughout! Great piece of kit!
Is the Gen 2 5' available in titanium just like the nano is?
If its not i hope it is soon 😊

the paces ! These stoves are basically bullet proof !!!!

Well, you must have been veeeeery hungry, lol. Seems to do a great job, nice vid Ben, Cheers, Marc

whats th name of the firestarter you use
I purchased the extended grill plate with my unit. Imho it's a must-have accessory. Nice cooking, my friend.
great video. made me hungry. gave me a little knowledge on these stoves that I needed. thanks
I always enjoy watching your stove reviews; I liked how you demostrated grilling different foods. Hope you upload some more, thanks for this review!
Does anyone else find it humorous that the only thing he didn’t burn to a crisp were the marshmallows. 😂
You burnt EVERYTHING!
You should have cooked most of not all of the meat on coals, not flames.
Dylan Castle was just testing the durability of the stove more than anything. thanks.
Then you should have thrown the whole stove in to a big 'ol fire!
Thankyou
Dylan Castle Maybe next time, lol. Thanks for the comment.

Could shoot those burgers out my sligshot and kill a few pigeons with them they that hard 😂🤣😂🤣😂
man, that's really nice and quite versatile. Definitely something for my pack.
How do you deal with all the smoke? Seems like it is one of the biggest problems for cooking.
Travis Heinze Use dry wood. Once it gets going it doesn't smoke at all.
Thanks so much for the review. Food looked amazing!
I'm amazed that you didn't get attacked by a bear!
Were these 80/20 or 75% burgers? I love flareup on a big grill but for the FireBox I may stick with 85 or 90%
***** No clue.
which stove would you recommend the most?? i really like this one, just wanted to see your opinion
Depends on your cookware, what do you use with a stove?
My dude straight did a whole video about burning food lol
Best Products hands Down, with Great support and Quality to count on... I have the Titanium nano.. little Guy is Amazing!!
Interesting how it all fits together! Thanks!

Cooking a ribeye out of doors!! Winning!!! You rock, Ben! Keep up the great vids!
thanks!
charcoals would work much better for grilling; flame is bad without a pot or skillet.
Talk about running the stove through it courses. The food looked great and the stove performed the way it was meant to. Nice Review bud.
Shane Coffey It can cook for a crowd for sure.
No ones getting sick from under cooked food there ! Great video
haha, was more testing the heat capability of the stove than concentrating on the food. was good nonetheless.
You have to love when the fire starts on the first strike :)
***** Heck ya!
Considering the inability to control the temperature that stove is pretty awesome just a bit too expensive for what it is.....
These are great. I need to get me the deluxe version with the extended grill plate. Mmmmmm bacon.
new version has fuel ports in the bottom. can't wait to get mine.
I cook my bacon in a pan and use the grease for what ever else. I use the damper and it cooks where other twig stoves boil and burn
The titanium emberlit is better for light weight packing. But I love my firebox for every thing else.
Agreed.
I cant tell if the stove sucks, or if you suck at using it. A little of both maybe? I also can't understand why you keep saying how well it works when it's clearly not producing good results.
This video was to see if I could keep the stove running hot for a longer period of time. The stove worked flawlessly.
Could kill pigeons by shooting those burgers out my slingshot 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Dont let these comments get you down bro
My kids hate my charcoal cake as well
You need a set of those wondérful " FOON TONGS "
Steve sells on His web store
( ask for em by name ) !!!!
Wow that is cool equipment. Bacon doesn't stick to much.
Not at all, with the really greasy stuff just have to watch the flare ups ;)-
Great video and demo of what you can cook on it.
Glad you liked it and thanks for watching!

4 strips of charred bacon, and 2 charred hamburger patties so far. At least you won't have to deal with good poisoning out in the woodlands.
+XPWNZERX lol, yeah i let it run hot to test the stove for a hour or so on blazing heat.

I will upload and share my video with you tomorrow.
+Chris Dealny cool.
2017 is this still a viable stove option?
very much so.
I notice all your food turn out black? Is that just a personal preference thing?
According to the bumph that comes with it, you shouldn’t have the grill plates on without food on them, they get too hot, doesn’t do them any good!
review the ten 2. please
Are those Nathan's hot dogs? If not, I am not sure if I can watch your cooking videos any more tonight :)
***** Yep, I believe they are.
Where was the torture?

The bacon probably would cook better in a pan. But none the less, im sold on the firebox!
Agreed. More or less just a test of the stove, not my cooking skills here.
Nice job on both the review and the cooking. I eat right off the grill too.
The stove itself works perfectly and is super robust but heavy .... if you know how to use it, which this guy doesn’t.
i like the stove but it seems like blackened food show ! 😂😂😂
+Max Inpains was testing the stove not the food lol
