I do find it amusing that atheism exists in a universe with magic, monsters, other dimensions, long and detailed soul/spiritual studies and arts, actual gods and who knows what else. I mean, it seems like a strange idea to have in a universe like this.

The correct word would be deism: Believing gods and the like exist yet they shouldn't be worshipped.
Think the point is, the Chaos 'Gods', or 'God' Emperor aren't gods, they're just extremely powerful beings of the universe, born of the latent energies of the universe. The combined psychic forces of sentient species gave life to the Chaos Gods, likewise, the combined psychic deaths of shamans to the Emperor. The 'higher power' that designed much life in the galaxy are the Old Ones, who weren't gods either, they had a latent understanding of how the universe works.

I can't help but feel pity for him, in but an instant, all of his hard work that took 48000 YEARS to complete was destroyed and ruined, forced to watch his once fine imperium slowly die a painful death as they do the one thing he never wanted to happen, becoming a god.
On the other hand their faith is slowly making him stronger, so maybe when he dies he will become a fifth true god in the warp. From there he will be able to do more, then alive on the throne.

I'm new to WH40K, as in two weeks new, though I've been aware of it for many years. I must say, this lore about the God Emperor of Man is REALLY compelling stuff!! Not at all what I expected from this series of fiction. I perceive the inspiration for this Emperor from all of the holy civilizers of history (Solomon, Maitreya, Viracocha, Christ's Second Coming), as well as the similarity with Shaddam IV and Leto II from the Dune series, but with the actual powers and morality needed to rule a galactic civilization . . . .

One theory states that the Imperium of Man turned out exactly as the Chaos Gods wanted. If Horus had won the Imperium would have killed itself with civil war. This way, there is a humanity to prey upon for a long time, in a "civilization" that is slowly degenerating in stagnation and steadily is very slowly growing corruption.
Horus winning would have been a quick end to Humanity and the Chaos Gods not long after.

By the imperial crest I have to disagree with you on the day that the emperor will probably not use the Gregorian calendar but the Julian so there are two weeks time till Christmas.
QUESTION: If the emperor came back to life wouldn't it make more sense for him to command the imperium to ally with the Eldar and the Tau to eliminate the evil and uncivilised factions like Chaos, Dark Eldar, Orks, Necrons, and Tyranids? By uniting humanity, the eldar and the tau that to me could potentially be a golden age for all 3 species who ultimately seek peace and order for the Galaxy.

The truth is the emperor is a perpetual but since he's on life support he can't fully die whiCh he needs to do to be brought back. Maybe if 40k end times happens the 50k can begin with his rebirth.

On easter they celebrate a holiday similar to easter of Dornius. This is the celebration of Rogal Dorn. I also believe before he was expunged from record, there was a day of the warmaster. Although i think its now just a day for the emperor

I have always believed that The Deacon Mentioned in the book "The Black Crusade" Core RPG made everyone mortal because he knew when they died he would get all the souls. But that screwed everyone else so they tricked him into becoming mortal. So He became the Emperor. Overtime Regaining his power and learning. At the time of this death people already worshipped him. Allowing him to fulfill there belief that he would always light the way for humanity. The warp has a tendency to give symbols power. A simple phrase becomes a beacon to guide the ships while in the warp. Malice hates everyone, even himself. Which lends to the belief that he is actually the Emperor pr at least his presence in the warp. These are 3 independent coincidences if you believe in chance.
Space marines aren't superior to Thunder warriors, just more stable.

I know it's the most popular theory but it's still only a theory.
I prefer the version whereby the Old Ones created the Emepror whilst fleeing the galaxy. They new a race would be needed to stand against chaos and a resurgent Necrons - the Orks would never be unified and the Eldar were already too far gone down the path of self destruction but humanity, might, with the right leader, hold back the incoming onslaught long enough for Old Ones to return.
Its not a theory. It was printed in "Realm of Chaos: The Lost and The Damned". A book from 1st Edition Rogue Trader. Its 1st Edition Rogue Trader lore from 28 years ago, so its ok if you didn't know. And no offense, but since "Realm of Chaos: The Lost and The Damned" is 1st Edition Rogue Trader book from 28 years ago, it might be older than you.

Is it possible that through some (insert lorebabble here) when his body finally does die that his spirit or psychic imprint or something could still affect the material plane? Like find a new body, or simply operate without a body? Or go to the Warp but be strong enough to not get consumed and maybe work against the chaos gods themselves?
