  • Axillary Web Syndrome, or Cording, is a common condition and side effect of surgery for breast cancer, melanoma, or other cancers that involve lymph node removal in the armpit region. Although many cords go away on their own, these are 5 ways physical therapy assists in getting rid of cording or axillary web syndrome.

You are helping me heal myself. I am a month out of surgery and the cording came after they removed the drain. Very tight.

Mam i have a question,i have cold cough and sore throat (though sore throat almost gone). After one week i m on antibiotics but since my cold stuffs started, i have noticed swollen lymph node on my neck(under jaw), i m a bit worried as it didn't go away still. My sore throat has improved after antibiotics but my cold and cough are still here. So should i try some exercise? My lymph node isn't painful

Can sleeping position cause or worsen cording? I noticed that when i slept on the side of mastectomy (done 3mos ago) thats when cording towards chest area appeared.

Thank you for responding. I’m sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Did they think the cording was related? That is a bit worrisome. I hope you are doing well.

Has anyone out there developed spontaneous cording without prior surgery.? I am dealing with that right now, also with spontaneous onset of lymphedema. Thoughts? Everyone I’ve seen here is confused as to what is going on (negative work up.)

Lots people get lymphoedema without surgery. Many people have primary lymphoedema that doesn't show up until later in life.Treatments still the same no matter what type of lymphoedema,or cording.Hope you can find the right physio/PT to work with you.

look for a PT that offers integrative modalities eg. traditional or electro acupuncture, biofeedback, hot and cold laser, massage, as well as exercise - I have found the merging of traditional and eastern techniques quite beneficial
