    In 1982 I was 6 years old so had no clue who The Who were, or what they had done.
    And although this MTV video was quite bland I found these guys really cool.
    Loved the song, and still do. I guess even before I knew, I knew.
    The Who is one of my all time favorite groups.
    One of the GREATEST rock bands EVER!

      Not really, this album was garbage. They all hated each other, Kieth's death was devastating emotionally and artistically, and it showed in the lack luster writing and dull performances.
      I saw this tour, and it was...not good.

    This is one of the post Keith Moon songs that worked out well, also because it actually needed straight forward drums. It might as well have been a Townshend solo album track though, unlike other Who songs he sang.

      It's sometimes said that it's not really a 'Who song' because it's so uncharacteristic, but I'd say that being so different is part of what makes it great! And isn't it unrepresentative of Pete's solo material too? Incidentally, Pete said at a Who gig I saw in London a few years ago that there's a version they recorded with an excellent lead vocal from Roger. He thought this deserved to be heard one day.

      andzwe, funny, I just posted about how the chord progression in the verse and chorus, although in a different key, is the same as for "Give Blood"...so, a few years, a key change and a tempo boost later, it kind of became a Townsend solo track.

      Totally.. except The SOUND of the drums could have been a little fatter for my liking. Some people hate on Kenney as a bad Keith Moon replacement... but I think The Who's songs from the 80s were 'victims' of the 1980s themselves: thin drums. If you were lucky to get real drums at all.
      But yes, straightfoward drums are definitely what this song needs. I would just prefer a bit thicker SOUND, is all. 👍

Considering I saw them perform Eminence Front in the encore which followed Won't Get Fooled Again at the conclusion of their concert in Arrowhead Stadium in 1989 and it's now 2023 that would make it an iconic song from an iconic band.

    Man...I still love this song...I remember this song & video being played on MTV very well...I was 13 yrs old in 1982 & we had just got cable TV.

    I m back in high school all over again , this song was playing as we jumped into a friends VW van after school , we rolled out onto the parkway with other High Schoolers in pursuit , our gracious driver starts to weave with the music starting our youthful group of followers to do the same , it was all the way unforgettable ,in that moment no one around but our group for 3 miles , craziness how one song brings back something you forgot over time .

    This is my favorite ( or one of them ) classic Who videos. I like the way they all show up individually, per agreement, and lay it down. These guys were good, real professionals.

    I always regretted that they stopped producing records since 1983. I wonder if The Who had continued to release albums during the 1980s. no doubt they would have released wonderful albums

      I disagree with the 'throwaway', but otherwise agree. This would have been brilliant on Pete's second solo album, but he donated it to the band for their last album before a long hiatus.
