    There's a couple differences between this video and the actual instructions in the HD2 kit. 2nd accumulator spacer is actually long and narrow and goes inside the inner "purple" spring which is inside the outer "purple" spring.
    On the 3rd accumulator use the kit supplied "white" spring not the original. And there is a spacer that goes on the end of the retainer tip to spread the load of the retainer on the separator plate. Glue it to the retainer w a bit of grease or assembly lube.
    Lastly, when bolting up the valve body, don't forget to put on the EPC relief valve that was assembled earlier (part of the paper directions).

    Great video I knew when I first watched it that it was a few years old. But this video was using the same kit that I purchased just my kit was updated from the one in the video. I just needed some help understanding what the paper information was trying to say and between both it went together very easily. I’m used to B&M shift kits but this one stood out over that manufacture now after I get done with it I will test it out to see if it works.

    If you can change your transmission fluid and filter you can do this. It's not hard at all. Just do yourself a favor and make your own servo and accumulator tool from box steel and threaded rod with some nuts and a wing nut to compress pistons to free up two hands to remove snap rings, and especially useful when trans is installed and you are upside down. Transmission bench has a whole 4R70W rebuild video series on CZcams, I think Part 1 Lesson 3 has the tool I'm talking about, it took me 10$ to make instead of paying 50 or more for the real tool
    I rebuilt my 95 AODE to 98+ 4R70W specs and used this shift kit. This shift kit is quality, the EPC relief is genius and I am enjoying chirping gears 1-2 and 2-3 thanks to 3500 stall and 4.10 gears! Get it and have fun!

      Edward McSwain I've got a 95 AODE and would also like to convert to the 4R70W specs. I don't suppose you have a list of the parts you used and where you got them from?
      Thanks

      rush2005 it is pretty easy and you can actually do it off ebay without actually having to touch the seals and frictions themselves because they sell rebuilt ready to go pieces put together, search on ebay for 4R70W stub shaft, mech diode, reverse drum and direct drum assemblies, planetary gear, sun shell to match, and make sure it specifies it is for V8 vehicles so it has the extra clutches, the v6 got a few less clutches is only difference. Rest is identical, can probably get it all for less than 300 bucks

    *Hi, I was hoping you could lend you knowledge & experience to help me make a decision...*
    1) Which do you think is a better transmission; the 4R70w or 4R75w... and why?
    Specifically in conjunction w a 4.6 sohc v8 (Lincoln Town Car)
    2) Between 1998-2011, which do you think is the best model year(s) of the Lincoln Town Car, and why?
    Thank you a ton!

    No drilling of the separator plate on this video as intruded with the HD2 kit.

    • @abdulhassan1107
      @abdulhassan1107 Před 3 lety

      Exactly. In the HD2 kit, Page 5, there's a guide to drill a 3/32 or 1/8 hole in #2 depending on converter type, in addition to #1 & 1A if not equal to or bigger than .063 both not shown this good video. Maybe the kit wasn't updated back then.
