    I have a 2012 f150 5.0 going 65 on freeway all the sudden the speed drops to 0. The only message I got was low oil pressure turned off turned back on it barely accelerated. Dealership and mechanics have no clue what is. Can it be the tb?

    Hey there..I put a brand ndw throttle body in my 2014 mustand 3.7 v6....The car was doing everything that the ford tb issues had including wrench coming on,,losing all throttle response,speedo going to zero,limp mode,,3rd and 4th gear like starts..Then i could pull over,shut car off for a few ,,restart car and issue gone...But issue daily came and went so I put the new tb in....Put the brand new throttle body in and the issues never changed....With the new throttle body,Im getting a p2112 code saying the tb acutator is stuck closed....We did a computer reset after the new tb with a matco scanner....Maybe we missed a vital procedure? Is this normal to get a p2112 code with a brand new throttle body? I don't know what to do...I'm at a loss..

    • @atgn70
      @atgn70 Před 2 lety

      And when I say car was having issues Im saying you hit the throttle and the car does absolutely NOTHING but sit at about 1500 rpms flatlining without going up...At idle it was normal. Like throttle not working.

      @CarShopTalk  Před 2 lety

      If the only code you’re getting if P2112, it almost has to be seeing an issue with the throttle body. You didn’t miss any steps, you usually just bolt on a throttle body and you’re good to go. If a throttle body didn’t fix it I’d be wondering about an issue with the wiring or the connectors.

    • @atgn70

      @@CarShopTalk Thanks for getting back to me...Right before I sent this message the car pulled up codes for the input and output speed sensors for the transmission and possibly one for the crank sensor for the first time...But understand that we've run the codes on this vehicle several times over the last four thousand miles or so and this is the first time these codes have shown up amidst the throttle issue..We've done a complete reset on the computer in the past too....Any way that a crank sensor could force a throttle body to get stuck closed? And if it were the speed sensors causing it,wouldnt the codes for those have shown up in the past? And we've pulled codes 6 or so times over the last few months. never any of those. codes until now.

      @@atgn70 Did you ever get this fixed? I'm having the same issue with my 2017 expedition. I replaced the ETB and cleared KAM and the P2112 is still present.

    • @atgn70
      @atgn70 Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@davisphillips7927 I did....It was what was called the molded lead frame connector..This is the most common issue with any ford with a 6r80 transmission...It's the electronic piece that has the input and output speed sensors built ino it...I is bolted onto the undersided of the valve body...What happens is if the speed sensors aren't getting voltage,the system will not send signal to the throttle body what to do ro what not to do considering the tps is built into it...I bought the dorman piece,,was somewhere around 150 bucks and paid my transmission guy to do it...Then he had to reprogram the tranny....Piece may also be called the transmission control module but lead frame connector is what the part is called...I hope this helps.

    Can this also feel like the transmission is sleeping when this happens?

    • @CarShopTalk
      @CarShopTalk  Před 3 měsíci

      Not usually. Normally with a slipping transmission the RPM comes up as clutch starts slipping, sometime accompanied by a shudder.

      The throttle body? It’s usually four 8mm bolts and one or two electrical connectors. It’s a pretty simple repair.

  • @anthonyramirez1757
    @anthonyramirez1757 Před rokem

    I was really hoping for a much simpler solution. Changing out the throttle body is super easy and takes less than 5 mins. I figured they’re be some kind of spray or foam you can apply to the throttle plate and that’s it. But maybe it is about time I replace the tb.

    • @CarShopTalk
      @CarShopTalk  Před rokem

      Usually the issue is in the plastic gears on the side that move the throttle plate. Gear teeth start wearing.

    • @anthonyramirez1757
      @anthonyramirez1757 Před rokem

      Yeah that makes sense. The odd thing is I took the connector off and sprayed it with electronic cleaner and it’s been running fine. I haven’t had it do it again. What I don’t want is it happening while I’m out in town or in the middle of the freeway. But I also don’t want to buy it, if I don’t need it. Im going to take it off tomorrow and spray it down but I’ll most likely buy the part and keep it in my truck and if it does it again, I’ll switch it out there and then.

    • @CarShopTalk
      @CarShopTalk  Před rokem

      @@anthonyramirez1757 that is odd and would definitely make a guy wonder if it was an issue with the connector.

      I get what you’re saying. I think most people, myself included, when they have a specific problem just want to know what the fix is. The thing about modern cars is you rarely see the same problem twice. I try to give people enough information that they can diagnose it themselves and have an idea what things should look like or how they’re suppose to work. When you have the exact same code, exact same problem, you’re right, you only need about twenty seconds of this video.
