    I installed a new battery on 2006 Ford 500 and then had P2111 / P2104 codes. I cleaned the throttle body, erased codes, disconnected battery, etc, etc. but kept getting the same codes and locked in "limp mode". I was just about to buy a new throttle body, but first decided to adjust the closed position stop after watching your video. Mine is a spring loaded stop screw/pin - slightly different from the one shown in your video. The head is a plastic hex that protrudes on the outside of the housing. I backed the stop out about 3/4 turn and this corrected the issue. Car is running better than it has in months. I assume this adjustment may be compensating for a weak return spring, but it got me going for now. Great video! Much appreciated.

    I just had mine fail... the butterfly valve would not close like it should... would stay open... I found a Dorman replacement TB at O'Reilly auto parts for $119(about$130 with tax here) and just swapped the whole thing... truck idles better than before, everything is fine now... Just glad I didn't opt to replace the cap piece like you suggested... I took the old TB apart after swapping it...2 bolt/screws snapped halfway out, one twisted, and one came out fine... would have been a nightmare getting those screws out... depending on how much the cap costs, might be more worthwhile to just replace the whole thing...

    Just had an issue with my car going into limp mode. Same codes previously discussed. Replaced with a new one. Opened the old one and found the first five teeth had been worn almost flat on the half gear that connects to the throttle valve which made for inconsistent idle. 20 minutes to replace. Thanks for the videos.

    Thanks for your vids. Helped me out a lot with my 07 Explorer 4.6 3v Orange Ironman Edition 225k. Thought I was having TPS issues with random stalls at stops or at highway speed as soon as you let off the pedal. I pushed the throttle plate all the way to closed and it stuck close. Removed and cleaned throttle body and no issues at all with the originalTPS. Sticking Throttle Plate essentially blocks all air intake then you stall have to pull over and restart engine which resets throttle plate. Hard to chase down randomness. No codes. Gummed Up Throttle plate. Try pushing yours closed and see if it sticks if u have random things happening. Good luck

    Question about the motor. I understand TBs do a full sweep when you turn car off to align itself. Is this correct? I hear a very loud non stop buzz coming from the TB when the key is set to ACC (before starting car). What is causing this buzzing?!!!... when cleaning the TB, do you suggest NOT forcing it open against motor's resistance to clean around the butterfly plate? Thanks!

  • @omarbedair
    @omarbedair Před 5 lety +3

    Thanks buddy. Happened to me today on the highway. Complete loss of power at 100 kmph, coupled with a heavy gearbox shift, probably to neutral. Was on cruise control. The orange wrench came on but no MIL. Stopped at the shoulder on emergency, no throttle response. Put gear in P then back to drive, nothing.
    After a quick engine off/on cycle, MIL was on but power is back. Checked the OBD back home and it said P2104 and P2111, throttle body fault and throttle stuck open respectively. I don’t think I have experienced and throttle wide open condition during the fault, and therefore suspect a malfunctioning TPS. Will order a full body and replace, will follow the throttle relearning procedures and update on what happens.
    Thank you for the great videos. Keep ‘em coming buddy.

      @miguelcalderon3702 Před 6 měsíci

      Did that fixed the issue?

    • @omarbedair
      @omarbedair Před 6 měsíci

      No it didn’t. The problem persisted after changing the throttle body. I randomly caught a misfire at cylinder 3 a couple of times while checking the faults after the failure occurred. So I decided to work on plugs then the coil. The problem was cured after the coil change.
      My hypothesis, a misfire either calls for torque compensation by increasing throttle flow and a downshift (hence the abrupt shifts). While at high torque situations this might saturate the throttle position to wide open and cause the fault.
      OR -> the misfire causes a weird back emf to the circuitry and that triggers a false signal, allowing the ecu to raise a false flag.

    • @miguelcalderon3702
      @miguelcalderon3702 Před 6 měsíci

      @@omarbedair am facing the exact same problem, did you get any obd codes for the misfires? I just replaced the throttle body, replaced all of the coils and plugs, got the pcm reprogrammed,as at one point the truck had problems running the fuel pump, and i replaced the accelerator pedal with a good known working one and am back to square one. Next i guess i'll double check my plugs and coils and clean the old throttle body. Last thing i might try is replacing the pcm.

    • @omarbedair
      @omarbedair Před 6 měsíci

      @@miguelcalderon3702 sorry to hear that. Guess I had a little bit better luck. Yes I got OBD’s for cyl 3 misfire randomly a couple of times, wasn’t consistent. That led me to change the plugs / coil.
      If this is the case with you, despite chAnging the plugs and coils, you might be facing misfire due to other issues (e.g. coolant leakage into a cylinder). Is your coolant level going down for any reason ?
      The problem could also not be related to misfire. This is a weird issue and u definitely need luck on ur side.

    hey, I just recently came across ur channel and great info! I had a question though. I have a 2011 f150 ecoboost 3.5l and today I was gonna check my throttle body to see if it needed cleaned and saw that it wasn't completely closed bc I could see a line of carbon and stuff where it is suppose to close. so when I push the top of the throttle and hold it, it will close but when I let go it just goes back to where it was. so I was wondering if u knew what is causing it to not close completely. I don't have any check engine lights on or anything. thanks!

      +Cruz Deuce Anytime the vehicle shuts down the lights on the cluster will reset. I would be leaning towards a new throttle body yes. Best to get the codes read first though by a scan tool than can query all modules involved.

    You ever have this issue
    Only on cold or somewhat cold starts the car idles down into limp mode. Wrench light comes on.
    Turn the car off then back on and everything is fine. It doesn't leave a code during limp mode or apon restart. Nothing to go off of.
    I've come to the conclusion that it's either the pedal assembly or throttlebody.
    But wondering your thoughts. Car is a 2006 fusion with a 2.3

    you mention that they may soon sell just the plastic cover with the chip, I have a 2012 edge and the dealership is wanting 780 for the repair. If I can find that specific part which seems to be the failing part I'd rather do it myself as its such a simple fix.

      Brandon Johns Very common for bad throttle bodies to have a surge feeling when going bad yes but can also be a misfire but that would be more a jerking feeling.

    what could be the potential cause of defect if the idle RPM is high?
    Also, the throttle adjusting screw [TAS] has some sort of resin on it. For how long is the curing done on it?

    • @FordTechMakuloco
      @FordTechMakuloco  Před 10 lety

      The stop screw has Loctite on it and is set from the factory and is not to be touched. Idle rpm high on what vehicle? Usually this is from a vacuum leak.

    What is the name for the plastic cover of the throttle body. Trying to google just that part. I've had the same issue as some of the guys down below and want to change out the cover before I have to drop $600 just to change out the throttle body. If you know where I could get one and what it's called that would be awesome. Thanks man

    Where is the Throttle Actuator Control Module Processor Located on a 2008 F250 5.4L? Inside the throttle body, or is it integrated into the PCM? I am getting code P2107 and P2110, and it's incredible easy to misdiagnose this issue. I don't want to recommend to my customer that he replaces the throttle body without being absolutely certain.

    Thanks for you video, very informative. You say that the electronics assembly is available. Two questions. Where can you get it; aftermarket or dealer only part? What is it called. I looked a an item called a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) at AutoZone and it wasn't anything like what is in the video.

    There is a chip available that does exactly what is required for this design. That is an ordinary permanent magnet on the end of the shaft. The chip detects through hall effect sensors the angle of the field with relation to the chip. The unfortunate thing about hall effect devices is because of the heavy doping they have a higher failure rate than other IC's.

    I’m having a major issue with my 2010 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor . When I turn the key over when everything is connected, my fuel pump will not kick in and my throttle body clicks and the car won’t start. If I unplug the throttle body and turn the key, the fuel pump kicks on and the car starts but obviously no acceleration. If I plug the throttle body back in while it’s running, still no acceleration. I’ve replaced the throttle body, ecm and the entire gas pedal assembly but I’m getting the same results. Does anybody have any ideas on what I should do next?
